Wow... I felt myself a real cowboy during this song! I suppose I need to go to that river... Because, I see the fireplace, the sunset, wind, small waves and long long horizon in front. Nice...
Dear Michael Landon, I was born january 4 1997 I was 5 years away to being alive when you were. I like you sooooo much! I wish I had a chance to meet you! You are the man I want! -3 u r the handsomest man I ever saw your singing Hot. And your looks amazingly sexy!:) LOVE YOU, ur number 1 fan who loves you!!!!:) may u rest in peace
Michael was such a great part on the Bonanza series; a fine group of actors, and they worked well on screen, a fine, wholesome, show. Michael, rest in peace until we meet, giovanni
@RoryNights ... Deeply happy ya enjoyed it... this tune sure brings back those "free" days and whilst listening ya just give up ya thought of to-day and feel the ponding heatbeat of reliving those past memories...take care overthere dear sheila :)))
I've always loved this song and this man. Someone else here made the comment that ML was her "first love". Reading that really hit me in the gut. That's the reason I have such enduring (45 years) emotion towards ML. He was my first love too. I'm still entranced by him, and embarrassed by that.
wow! just came across this vid. I live in Virginia and remember stories my grandmother said about Michael and how much she loved him and his family. She was a nanny for his children at South Laguna Beach California.
@MariaLovesDisney If it makes you happy I can tell you there was a Vinyl LP made in the 60s called "Ponderosa Party" with all the cast members. It was supposed to be a party for Pa and everybody sang a song including Michael Landon who sang "Careless Love" and "Shendandoah" also singing with the other three. I bought the LP then and have played it non-stop for years as it is a lovely album.
I cannot understand how a man like that died of pancreatic cancer - this type of cancer only has a 4% 5 year survival rate Not a nice way to die...:o(
@JuanMacready Some claimed that the land he bought very cheaply for filming Little House was previously "Rocketdyne", manufacturer of military weapons and loaded with toxic chemicals. Supposedly, a lot of other cast and crew developed serious health problems. I don't know. Just something I've read a few times on the net. Really tragic if that's true.
HERE we have one who KNOWS what he is singing about, one can feel it ! it was hard to find a credible version of this jewel, most other versions are phoney, schmaltzy or plainly stupid.
Michael Landon was so talented that everything he created succeeded and lasted many years. He was also very kind and genuine. Someone who gave of himself to the end. He compares to Elvis in these ways. Do we see any of these type of entertainers today?
en hommage à un acteur formidable que j'ai plus connu dans le rôle de charles ingalls de la petite maison dans la prairie. j'étais trop jeune quand la série bonanza est sortie à la télé.
I just love the way he sings that song and the lead up to it, on the Ponderosa Party Time LP, is so cute, when Ben says 'I'm sure Joseph will sing it really well'
Michael Landon had the face of an angel. He was my first love and nearly 50 years later, he's still my number one
@ljlover You have the LP of Ponderosa Party time too? I bought that in 1965 and played it non-stop for years and I still have it. I just could not part with it now, I started loving Michael Landon in 1959 when I was 15 and I still love him now. I hope you have had many lovely years listening to the LP as I have.
What a lovely man he was. That singing voice was gorgeous and that laugh he shared with us was so contagious. God only knows how he got that! ;) Thanks for making this and showing Bonanza clips. My mother and I love that show. We love all the Cartwrights and Little Joe made it even better. No one could take his place or the others, either. They made an awesome team :)
He sings better than Pernell Roberts. Being as that song is about my home state I've always liked that song.

If you liked this piece then go to 'Shenandoah Graduate Choir of New Zealand' and listen to one of the best choral versions of this song.
