  • He sings better than Pernell Roberts. Being as that song is about my home state I've always liked that song.

  • @MsRadiorebel is this about iowa or the shenandoah valley in virginia? i'm sort of confused

  • @AlyssHrt123 Its about Mr. Mike L.

  • @AlyssHrt123 I had to sing it in choir last year. Its about Missouri. I promise you in the song it says, "Across the wide Missouri."

  • great i never knew he could sing either

  • yep, he's a g

  • now, would you put mr. landon and pavorotti in the same league?

    Of course you would!

seriously, though, this version was just about okay, just like someone singing in a bath tub!

  • Wow... I felt myself a real cowboy during this song! I suppose I need to go to that river... Because, I see the fireplace, the sunset, wind, small waves and long long horizon in front. Nice...

  • wow!

  • Beautiful.

  • Michael was such a great part on the Bonanza series; a fine group of actors, and they worked well on screen, a fine, wholesome, show. Michael, rest in peace until we meet, giovanni

  • Farewell to all the Ponderosa men; Pa, Adam, Hoss, Little Joe...we miss you...

  • @jehukjehe .....Yeah, we sure do.....Seems so long ago......Regards from downunder....

  • Thank you- for sharing this----

  • 1 person, dont like sexy cowboys who can sing

  • I've always loved this song and this man. Someone else here made the comment that ML was her "first love". Reading that really hit me in the gut. That's the reason I have such enduring (45 years) emotion towards ML. He was my first love too. I'm still entranced by him, and embarrassed by that.

  • Amazing! What a wonderful voice. Thanks for posting this.

  • Amazing....I'm so happy to have come across this video! What a wonderful voice.

  • He is the 1900s Micheal Buble!!! haha

  • @hawkinstaylor51 More Elvis :P

  • wow! just came across this vid. I live in Virginia and remember stories my grandmother said about Michael and how much she loved him and his family. She was a nanny for his children at South Laguna Beach California.

  • Oh. My. Goodness. Someone please tell me he recorded an album (or two or three or four!). If not, what a shame! He should have done this more!

  • @MariaLovesDisney If it makes you happy I can tell you there was a Vinyl LP made in the 60s called "Ponderosa Party" with all the cast members. It was supposed to be a party for Pa and everybody sang a song including Michael Landon who sang "Careless Love" and "Shendandoah" also singing with the other three. I bought the LP then and have played it non-stop for years as it is a lovely album.

  • wow i'm impressed, never knew he sang

  • I've always known Landon could act, but I never knew he had one of the best voices ever!

  • why in the world didnt he come out as a singer and make albums as well as act, what a multitalent he was.

  • Thanks for posting this. Great job. I cannot believe it is 19 years since Michael passed away.

  • Michael's voice is warm and tender...I love the way he sang this ballad....

  • I cannot understand how a man like that died of pancreatic cancer - this type of cancer only has a 4% 5 year survival rate Not a nice way to die...:o(

  • @Cattypuss1 Landon himself wrote that he believed his heavy smoking and alcoholism had caused the cancer.

  • @JuanMacready Some claimed that the land he bought very cheaply for filming Little House was previously "Rocketdyne", manufacturer of military weapons and loaded with toxic chemicals. Supposedly, a lot of other cast and crew developed serious health problems. I don't know. Just something I've read a few times on the net. Really tragic if that's true.

  • @lisadiane55 I think years of heavy drinking and smoking 3-4 packs of cigarettes a day had something to do with it.

  • where you can download this song :D

  • HERE we have one who KNOWS what he is singing about, one can feel it ! it was hard to find a credible version of this jewel, most other versions are phoney, schmaltzy or plainly stupid.

  • Michael Landon was so talented that everything he created succeeded and lasted many years. He was also very kind and genuine. Someone who gave of himself to the end. He compares to Elvis in these ways. Do we see any of these type of entertainers today?

  • en hommage à un acteur formidable que j'ai plus connu dans le rôle de charles ingalls de la petite maison dans la prairie. j'étais trop jeune quand la série bonanza est sortie à la télé.

  • @TheCheyenne63 NO. :) Sad to say.

  • Landon does a great job, but I would have loved to hear Pernell take a stab at this song.

  • He a cracking singer as well as being good looking.R.I.P. Micheal.

  • I LOVE MIKE LANDON i think everybody did

  • Thank you so much for this video! I LOVE this song and him! I love the scenes and pictures you chose, very well done!!!!

  • hes lovely here, it was a sunday tradition in our house to watch bonanza b4 dinner, anyone know where i can find the theme song??

check out the outakes from little house on the prarie, hilarious

  • are we sure this is Michael???? WOW... he sounds like Elvis :) Loved both men :)

  • wow that song gave me chills...u r missed michael

  • Beautiful song by a beautiful man!

    Miss you alot Mike.

  • i love it!!!

    me hero!

  • I didn't know that he sang this song. Thanks for posting it. I fell in love with him in 1963.

  • Even this Adam fan has to admit that that was some pretty durn goooood singin.

  • pitter patter, pitter patter . . . :o)

  • Michael did have a very nice voice. A voice that was quite smoothing and peaceful.

  • I could listen to this all day!!!! I wish he had done more!

  • OMGoodness!! I didn't breath for 2 min 08 sec! Its soooo beautiful!

  • Absolutely lovely...how many tv shows do we have now where 3 out of the 4 main stars sing well, let alone as great as Michael does here?

  • *falls out of chair with mouth wide open* Is that really him singing......i mean holy S***, that is so beautiful. Damn never knew he could sing.

  • is it michael landon that singing

  • How very beautiful!!

  • That is so beautiful

I just love the way he sings that song and the lead up to it, on the Ponderosa Party Time LP, is so cute, when Ben says 'I'm sure Joseph will sing it really well'

Michael Landon had the face of an angel. He was my first love and nearly 50 years later, he's still my number one

    Little Joe forever

    Lynne

  • @ljlover You have the LP of Ponderosa Party time too? I bought that in 1965 and played it non-stop for years and I still have it. I just could not part with it now, I started loving Michael Landon in 1959 when I was 15 and I still love him now. I hope you have had many lovely years listening to the LP as I have.

  • Where can I get this ? Ive been looking for this everywhere !

  • if your still looking for this please let me know and i'll send it to you

  • What a voice! How can you look like that AND sound like that too??

  • @garvin85 I feel that way about Landon AND about Pernell Roberts. My GOD they could both sing and LOOOK that way too!

  • @garvin85 AND write and act like that??

  • What a lovely man he was. That singing voice was gorgeous and that laugh he shared with us was so contagious. God only knows how he got that! ;) Thanks for making this and showing Bonanza clips. My mother and I love that show. We love all the Cartwrights and Little Joe made it even better. No one could take his place or the others, either. They made an awesome team :)

  • He had a really beautiful voice. I can't understand why he didn't have a strong singing career!

  • *floats away in cloud* with the sound of his voice.....:faint
