Why on earth would CHA even consider rehabilitaing such a derilect outdated property that promotes poverty, gang violence, and and feeds into that degenerative cycle?? I certainly hope all the Cabrini Green Housing "projects are demolished. Clearly this does not work on any level.

So are you saying that inanimate buildings caused the problem rather than poor management by the CHA and federal tinkering with the rent system? When Robert Taylor Homes opened in 1962, you could be fined for walking on the grass. But it was a mix of incomes back then.

@sadie1155 If the problem were simply high-rises, then Lake Meadows, Prairie Shores, South Commons, Sandburg Village and all of the Gold Coast and North Lake Shore Drive would be festering slums. Some of it was the CHA's fault, some of it was law-abiding residents who saw crime and looked the other way. A plague on both their houses.
