Thank you for this cute video. I am a former resident of the Boston area and the former owner of an Abyssinian cat (not at the same time) and I wonder how "Boris" would have reacted to the passing scene.
Hi there! Thanks for your comment - I appreciate it. Sadly, Gun-Hee is dead, but I have his half-brother, Jake now. He and I go out in Boston and I post the photos on my Daily Abyssinian blog (abyaday dot worpress dot com)
Very cute video. But I had comment on that "Charlie" song: It mentions that his wife comes down every day to the station to hand him a sandwich. Why in the world didn't she just give Charlie a nickel to get off?!!
Even better: Why didn't Charlie take more than 10 cents w/ him in the first place? I assume he was going to make a return trip back home!
But alas, maybe they finally let him off the day they shut down the Arborway line! The song did state that he was going to Jamaica Plain and that was the last stretch of Green Line to use PCC cars @ the time! :)
I think that he didn't bring extra money because he didn't realise that the fare had gone up - hence the "fight the fare increase" protest aspect of the song?
He started out on the Red Line, though: He handed in his dime at the Kendall Square station...
Maybe there was a surcharge to change to the Green Line back then, like the one they used to charge at the ends of the Red Line?
Wow, I miss Boston sometimes. They would never let a cat like that on BART over here in SF (in a carrier or stroller, though...we take our cats out in the stroller).
I have owned cats all my life (I am 57). I loved this video and, of course, I really enjoy the song. So, thanks to the person who posted this video,, thanks very much.
They can, as a matter of fact! You're also allowed to eat and drink on the T, which most public transit systems prohibit. Interestingly enough, the cars aren't that much dirtier than any other city's.
Thats why the Subway ticket "the Charlie card" is called the Charlie card, because of this song ,of a man who died in the horrible Boston Subway system.
lol, I thought that was a dog thing!

A well-composed and overall favorable YouTube experience.
I've only ever taken my cat in the car, but it's the same look on her face: O hai look at all this stuff that's MINE, and I didn't even know about it.

LOL I am from Northern Calif originally! It's funny, the T lets you get away with a lot that most transit systems don't...
Hee! I never thought about taking Gun-Hee on BART. He'd probably love it...he'd probably love love going out in SF in general, come to think...

I LOVE how he meows at the very end in time with the music! He's so well-behaved, too. My cat would be freaking out if I took him on the T.
