  • Lol, the mortar is supposed to be packed into the holes as you push the brick down on the bed. This wall would be weak as hell. You need a bigger bed than 10mm before you put the brick down to work it down to the line, too. You can't just place it there and expect it to be perfect, lol!

  • @rollindanny57

Now obviously, building a house will entail more than just laying bricks n blocks in perfectly straight even lines.

But I have to point out, that U have upped the stakes to extensions & houses, which is quite a step up from Ur earlier blanket criticism saying "If your that bad you have to resort to this thing..."

U can't deny the thing makes sense. It's just plain, simple physics. Plain simple systemization.

Systemization is everywhere in our world.

  • @rollindanny57

Sorry 4 the delay in answering.

Danny anywhere it is needed to lay a perfectly vertically straight column of bricks/blocks, the Bricky can do it. It's systematic. It's a precision engineered tool, like many manual labour tools.

However, if it is being used TOTALLY IMPROPERLY, as in excessive force being used on it, like any tool, there's going to be error.

But God Man, in the hands of someone who's got even half a clue, it's usefulness & efficiency would be unrivalled.

  • bet the chinese wish they had this when building the great wall

  • just love the "bricky" - remember many a night coming in from clubbing and roaring with laughter at this lmfao

  • "Dude, whatcha got there?"

(cough) (HACK) (spit) "It's called, um, a Bricky."

  • I think this awesome for a home DIY'er. It does remove a lot of the intimidation. BUT, as the daughter of a block & brick mason, who spent her summers hauling mortar - an experienced brick layer would fly through this part faster than "we" DIY'ers could ever imagine! LOL Find me quick way to dig the ditch!!

  • this is actually a pretty neat invention

  • this looks kinda awesome .nice and clean not junk on the side. Awesome although Im not a builder ;(

  • @derick776 I appreciate that the die hard brickies wouldn't bother with it mate but like I said I've seen abought five different building sites lately amd they are using the very long tray version to lay the mortar. Try don't bother with the side prices but look how fast u can lay the bed of mortar? I mean any joey could lay it and experts like u could just wack the bricks on in no time.

  • @lala422 the building trade are using this on site mate and most of the top brick layers are using this to save time, however they don't bother with using the small side piece to butter the ends of the brick. They use the tray to lay yards of mortAr :-)

  • @MrMagsimus Youre talking through your arse mate, ive worked on site laying bricks for 25 years and i have never seen anyone with this piece of shit ,if you did you would be laughed off the job or sacked within 5 minutes

  • Too much time??? Anybody could beat even the best bricky with this systematic device.

Typical old school industry resistance to a great idea. People who think like you do are just holding up the world & wasting environmental resources by slopping mortar all over the place.

Laying bricks the traditional way is like trying 2 draw a STRAIGHT LINE free hand. Then some not incredibly bright spark came up with a thing called a "RULER" daw.

The Bricky's the exact same principle. Get with it.

  • How in the name of GOD can U say "time consuming"??? Do U even know what Ur talking about??

A retard could beat the BEST bricky with this device against the clock for all kinds of walls.

Too time consuming my fuckin arse. Typical old school industry resistance 2 a good idea.

  • Shows how much U know. Or else Ur a bricky & afraid of losing Ur monopoly, using a completely retarded way of slopping bricks up, splattering mortar all over the place, and taking 3 times as much time as a simple guide like this bit of kit.

I apologise if I offend, but it's just plain common sense. I know a *developer* who isn't even a bricky who put up a whole outside boundary wall of concrete blocks all on his own, v little time, perfect results, & used 2/3 the amount of mortar. Common sense.

  • @Sionnach1601 maybe thats the way they do it overseas but here in australia, I do it about 2.5 times faster with no mess on the ground, thats how we teach our guys to lay bricks,...properly

  • @plhollands1

Well fair enough buddy if U can, and fair play to U too! That's a good thing.

I don't mean to sound like an arch critic, so please forgive just 2 considerations.

I've seen vids of 'champion' brick layers laying with lots of speed. But I would just wonder as to the actual uniformity of mortar layed between individual bricks. I'm sorry but I couldn't imagine it still coming close to that offered by a SYSTEMATIC way like the Bricky.

You say 2.5 times faster...faster than what though?

  • @Sionnach1601 Have you ever seen a real brickie build a wall ? The bricks are laid to a tight line, either old way of cornering up or corner profiles. When you spread the mortar with your trowel you leave a much bigger bed than you need. When you lay the brick ,you push gently down to line and the excess mortar is trowelled off and placed on the end of the brick making the joint for the next brick.

  • If your that bad you have to resort to this thing, I would leave it to someone who knows how.You will only make a mess.

  • That is the most ignorant thing I've read in a long time.

You don't NEED some other dumbass doing things the old-school WRONG way when you've got something as systematic and fail-safe as this.

The results are PLAINLY OBVIOUS. It's undeniable, U can see it with your own eyes.

Old school brickies are just holding the world up with their sloppy irregular crap, and wasting the world's resources by wasting so much mortar.

    Unbelievable.

  • @Sionnach1601, Fighting my corner well there my fellow corkconian, appreciated

  • @BrickyTools

    Cheers N,

But as you might remember about me, I thoroughly believe this to be a fantastic invention. In fact, no disrespect, but there was such an obvious need for this kind of manual systemisation in the trade, that it was more like a 'discovery', than an invention if you follow!

But, I know, everybody says that about ALL the best inventions,

"Now why didn't *I* think about that?!?!"

Be proud. U've done a really great thing for the world. Time will tell. Time will tell.

  • @rollindanny57

That's a really stupid thing to say. Just plain ignorance. I bet people said the same thing about drawing a straight line by hand before a thing called a RULER was invented.

"Better get someone who knows how."

  • I want one so much!

I don't even have a garden, it just looks so cool!
