those who steal the golden fleece must DIE!!.............hahaa imagine how much of a muppet he would look if nothing happened when he threw those teeth lol
Aren't the skellies amazing. I have watched this scene hundreds of times and never tire of it. I sometimes try and "stop/start" in a feeble attempt to see a "glitch" and at this point must admit to an epic fail on my own behalf....lol.
I love it because the skeletons start out being the coolest things in movie history, then they do a unanimous battle shriek and charge. I fall on the floor laughing every time.
Com to think abou it: is Jason really a hero or a simple pirate? I mean: He comes all the way to the end of the world to STEAL the golden fleece. I know It's for reclaiming his kingdom and so on but still he simply steals the fleece?
@GOTH86 St. Augustine tells the story of a pirate captured by Alexander the Great, who asked him how dare he molest the sea. How dare you molest the whole world the pirate replied. Because I do it with a little ship only, I am called a thief; you, doing it with a great navy, are called an emperor....sweet.
I checked over at IMDB and it did not mention this movie even being nominated for an Academy Award for special effects (or whatever the category would have been for at that time). In 1963, these special effects were considered incredible and for this movie not to win much less not be nominated as such, is an incredible omission on the part of the Academy.
Thriller! Thriller! Okay now for the dance, hey where's Michael Jackson? LOL I love this part I remember it like yesterday I feel like a little kid all over again thanxxxxxxxxxx for this great movie haha
The children of the night! gotta love that! and the flaming balls of fire don't forget the flaming balls of fire. and the skeletons gotta love the skeletons, don't forget them too.
I believe, or read somewhere during my youth, that in mythology, the hydra was actually a creature with nine heads. Aside from that, Ray Harryhausen's reptilian hydra is one of his most impressive creations! Imagine, trying to keep track of animating all seven heads and trying to remember which direction each head moves in between filming each frame of film during the tedious stop-motion process! The man was a genius with NO equal!
the hydra had to many heads for greek poters and artists to fashion on to their works, fo it was cut down to nine, ray couldnt work with nine, so he cut it down to 7
The ending "Jason will have many adventures" and "I'm not through with Jason" "The game is not over" and the goddess wanting Jason suggests there would be more movies.
There comes a large story after this...surch on the internet by the stories of Euripides, Apollonius of Rhodes or Ovid(translations) they all wrote stories about Iason and Medea. If you read them, you will see that a lot of what you see in this movie is not right according to the story.
loool skeletons when they scream its funny XD
