haha hes been usin ableton an serato too long cudnt beatmatch..... im lost as to wot the point of all this is, u can use any DVS system with any DAW using a 4 channel mixer. all i saw was the ability to scratch ableton clips but djs usin ableton to mix dont scratch.....an if u wanted u cud bounce off the clip first..
also i don't know if anybody noticed, but you really can't even scratch clips either. when he was moving the vinyl back and forth on the deck that had ableton live loaded, you couldn't hear the pull back on the record. it just sounded like he was triggering a sample. i don't know if that could be considered "full" vinyl control
mspinky m4l patch + mspinky vinyl 1/7 price of serato scratch live 3, use timecode to control single tracks inside ableton ... THANK YOU SERATO AND BY BY!
Man, this sucks, I thought, i can now use the serato signal inside ableton live, for LIVE effect manipulation, the most people are searching for a setup to do live manipulation, u can find many posts about that in many forums...
The bridge is only a sync between the two programs in a live situation? sorry, no reason for changing to serato, to expensive for a sync!
for making a dj set inside ableton, i don´t need serato...
WTF ... my Native TSP is on ebay now, i will cancel the auction...
In the past you have 2 decks and a mixer plus the records. Nowdays u need 2 decks a laptop with 2 softwares+ midi controller (2 at least) and two timecode vinyls.
They eat more electricity and sound is not that good like oldschool vinyls..New technology ? Great!
Mixtape is definitely a cool idea, but I really don't see what's so great about being able to play Live songs on the Serato turntables. Obviously you have more control than if you just rendered a WAV file..... but is that it? Or am I missing something? Meh
I would have been a million times happier if Live included a way to control clip playback using a turntable (or CD player or whatever). THAT would be DOPE.
I'm a Pro DJ/VJ and I dabble in making my our tracks and remixes. I use to own hardware but move to digital like everyone else. I currently make all my mix CD's in ableton. What once took me the good part of a week to complete I see now taking 1 day. This is gonna simplify my CD producing greatly. Thank you Serato & ableton for making something that is actually useful and time saving!! I'm glad these companies R working together. Both deliver Power in the simplest way possible. thx again!
it's a really cool thing for people who work with samples, but soon as you "really" play live using VSTs, external synths and whatnot, bridge won't be of any help (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure achieving the same effect with audio material generated on-the-fly is currently impossible).
in my case, crossgrading from a working live + traktor scratch combo to ssl + live + bridge would be a downgrade. but since my secondary setup is an NS7FX w/ ITCH, I'll give it a go just for kicks.
guys, i never wanted to start a flame war here. i won't reply to any offending comments cause i'm not 18 years anymore. just wanted to say that also the gui is an important part of an app cause it's the connection between the users brain and the machine. i was excited when i heard of the hand-in-hand work of abe and rane. but i expected something else than a sync-link between both aps. maybe there's more to come but as long as this doesn't happen i'm pretty happy with my tsp.
Fair enough, you're entitled to your own view, and if you're happy with your current setup, we can't argue with that.
This is the very first stage of our developments with Ableton, designed to get the communication flowing well between both programs. There's HEAPS of things we could do together so hopefully down the road there might be some functionality you identify more with :)
@SeratoHQ So If I sink my NI Maschine to Ableton The Bridge will enable me to use both Scratchlive and Maschine through Ableton simultaneously? If so, does that mean I will be able to take samples and loops from Scratchlive mp3's onto Maschine?
ignoring this bridge stuff... why the hell serato doesn't work on their gui. it looks so 90's. I'm so glad that i've chosen traktor scratch... i could imagine serato will leave the market in about 5 years or so
Some say i love serato, some say i love traktor. but the gui is undiscussable. that was my point. and i will not complain about what i can afford or not
yea and thats why they adapted this for serato.. cause it wont be here in 5 yrs?? lol dude its the standard.. the UI is the shit.. anyone who uses traktor is only because they bought it not knowing about serato
ok ? if you have a ttm57 it records on its own couldnt you just record your tracks and move them to you multitrack program that you already own for a lot cheaper ?
I own Ableton Live 7 and I won't say that FL studio is the best, BUT for a beginner, I would strongly recommend it if you cannot afford Live. Other programs like Ableton have some other and better advantages.
. I would recommend composing in Finale and then import it into Live 8 Suite for more realistic sounds.
The Serato announcement takes things to the next level. Huge!
@djaniquinn - that's the legendary Huston Singletary! He was actually speeding things along - we condensed a 25 minute presentation into 5 minutes for this movie! Glad you're excited, though. We certainly are.
The Ableton guy had too much fucking Starbucks and the Serato dude smoked some weed earlier. Just slapped on some visine.

Now if they find a way to integrate this with an A&H xone:92 it would be 100% perfect. The xone kills the TTM57SL.

@djaniquinn you can tell there was a lot of chemistry between those two ;p
although, I thought the Ableton rep was way more knowledgeable than the SL rep. IMO
Can't wait until this comes out, havn't really seen a update since late Feb.
