Tortie cat drinking from faucet

My tortie has no class.....she drinks out of the toilet. I've had cats for 40 years and never had a toilet drinker before. It's quite a balancing act ;-)

Cute! I have a Tortie as well that I got from my shelter and torties are nice cats to have. I also have an Egyptian Mau cat that like to drink from the sink like that, and a whot Kaho Manee Siamese cat who sometimes drinks from the tub. I think its cute when cats do stuff like that.

My tortie likes drinking water out of odd places... the toilet, flower vases, my cups, off the walls of the shower, the sink, the rain on the pavement.... shes more obsessed with water in other places than in her own bowl... such a weirdo lol

i miss my torti she had to be put down due to cancer all inside her we tryied to save her but could do nothing she was only 6 years old and was a very loving cat we miss her so much we found her in 2004 with her mom and the other kittens we still have her brother who is fine but it took a while to get over her death witch was a month ago R.I.P. My tortie cat does the same thing. I'll put water on the floor in a ceramic dish since I heard cats like to drink from ceramic or glass because plastic dished make the water taste funny, but she jumps on the bathroom sink and drinks. I keep the water running very slightly all the time so she always has water. Don't ask what the water bill is. :)

Awwies, I as well have a tortoie and her name is Turtle. She also drinks from a fawcet, but my mom got her off the habit. She is drinking from a dish now, however she'll only drink bottled water AND she has to see the water being poured before she can drink it. It's really neat because my cat will also drink from the water bottle :).

OMG! I too have a Tortie. She looks just like yours and does the faucet thing too. Like some other that have commented here, she refuses to drink out or a water dish as one would expect but rather she has to have a few large glasses of fresh water at locations like side tables - at least one per room. She is also an avid fetcher of a specific toy if tossed down hallways etc. She picks it up and returns it to the thrower and waites for the next toss. Her name is PP (for Pretty Precious)

my tortoise shell bites the asses of everyone in the Whitehouse. This is why Dick Cheney has tried to abduct my cat. Thankfully, I have some videos of him using a vacuum cleaner in an unusual way so my tortoise shell is safe for now.

Your cat's both primal and smart, then. I've seen many animals in the wild act that way, and I believe its a natural instinct to protect against the organisms that normally dwell in still water (like things that might make it sick--or even those nasty mosquitos which usually hang around stagnant water). Running water from streams is always the healthiest. Pretty cool cat.

Thanks for your concern RowenaDot. Unfortunately Muffy passed away a little over a year ago. She was almost 17 years old. I miss her a lot.

Sapphie, my tortie, looks a lot like Muffy, but is skinny. I love her so much, but she just plays hard to get all the time. We call her Sapphie, the Alpha kitty. She is so mean to our other cat, Romeo. Our dog Max gets along great with Romeo, but of course Sapphie is mean to Max too.
