  • This song is scary. I don't know why. I love it!

  • 54,377 people didn't realize the video title is misspelled

  • Great video.....

  • absolutely awesome video! Thank you!!!!!

  • Great, great song. I always thought the lyrics were about cocaine....

  • Icicles on my spine

    My boots feel empty

I see the world around me

Through the corners of my eyes

    Lost control again today

  • reminds me of husker du in way..hey are there any more bands like this that anyone could recomend..

  • Man I love this band

So much better than the new so called "punk"(scream-o bullshit) does anyone know if they still tour?

  • I first copied this on a cassette from the Bob Slade show in Miami back in the 80's. I rode my bike 20+ miles to buy Jettison LP at Open Books& Records in Miami. I split the cost with Bobby (former lead singer of LOAD) thinking this song was on it but nonetheless Jettison rocked our 15yo worlds. it took years to score this 7" but through the years, Naked Raygun is the greatest. I even like NR better than Black Flag or the Misfits.

  • the most under rated punk band ever :/ they were as good as the dead kennedies the sex pistols and the clash in my opinion

  • @baranflake better than those bands.

  • I love this band to this day.......one of Chicagos finest. I think this one is about a black chick.....I always remember how this band crossed boundaries with lyrics and even metal fans were at the shows not to mention skins and punks of all kinds.

  • Excellent track...I first heard this around 87 on some compilation lp. It was by far the best track on it so I had to track down the rest of their vinyl... Got it all now except basement Screams and Flammable Solids. Check out the Bomb from chicago.....singers new band they are really great also :)

  • Don't forget I shot half of it and did the rough edit Mr Harder.

  • Best NR song! Got a heart with a knife shoved threw it and a banner of the song title. (Yea it's about an ex.)

  • saw them in waukegan il. years ago. they rocked!

  • I owned a copy of the blue-vinyl 45" of this song, on SANDPOUNDER Records, ordered via snail-mail, in 1990. This song is still absolutely one of the best I have ever heard.

  • God I love Naked Raygun..... best stuff ever

  • everyone's like argh adn i'm like shush let's listen to naked raygun maybe then the world would know peace

  • Death to amerika. Leave jeff alone.

    lost control again today

  • Bullocks. Bullocks to the lot of you. Piss off with your punk rock this and your punk rock that! You 'eard me. Piss off. Bloody wankers. Stupid gits. Are there any more stereotypical punk rock arguments then? No. That's just great.

  • @LongcatBrodzky you better bloody well get your arse out of the loo. ive been waiting a right three hours. your makin me bonkers!

  • whatever. i just like music. oi, metal, rude, gangster rap (shuddup), classical, shoegaze, industrial, and I even wet my dick in japanese music (the ladeez are fucken smexy). you guys shouldn't be afraid to listen to music. quit fighting over that shit.

  • thank you... god how much i love punk or ska... but so much people fight about whats better. its all just opinion. i love all types of music most of which just comes from chicago or just anything thats fuckin good to my ear

  • Right on!

  • english dogs,n.o.t.a.,smv,vandals,cryptic slaughter,s.n.f.u.,ganggreen,gbh,exploited,diekruezen,misfits,dk's,subhumanz,Dr.Know,warzone,D.I.,cromags,suicidal"early"tendencies,wurm,swa,the plugz,mixed with a little madness,mighty mighty bosstones =oi',thats an easy one.

  • Oh...and GG Allin was way better than Blitz too.

  • and now you want to say that some animal fucking,AIDS inftected drug addict homosexual pussy who killed himself cause he couldnt handle life and had major mommy and daddy issues was BETTER THAN BLITZ???and what to talk about 'credibility". I can't even have this discussion with you, dude. ur either trying to be funny(which I hope to god hell u r!! or your'e just a fuckin moron.

  • i got to meet all the band memebers. i went to the recording studio with them. ive been backstage at their concerts. i see them all

the time, and im only 13! how? my daddys the drummer!

  • man i wish my dad had talent

  • Amazing band back in the day and this is definitely one of my all-time favorite songs by any band.

  • One of the finest punk bands ever

  • yup

  • favorite band of all time, favorite song of all time.

    heck yes

  • Dan Andriano from the Chicago band Alkaline Trio was inspired by them.

So I guess they are quite good, right?

  • yea naked raygun are sick but alkaline trio suck the fat one

  • I just discovered Naked Raygun a couple of months ago. They're fucking amazing! Wish I could've seen them back in the day but they're on tour again later this year, I can't wait!

  • I was lucky enough to see them in the '80s and '90s in Los Angeles. They weren't real popular here so the venues were real small but the most intense freaking shows I ever attended. The highlight of my youth for sure.

  • I liked this song!!

  • Chicago punk is/was the best, Raygun were the cream of the crop, Social D tho is a pure CA thing, seen Raygun so many times but still need to see them at least one more time...

  • Chicago Punk Rock is the best....but you can so tell which bands are from Chicago...like Social D...they just have this certain sound

  • LOL compared to who?? what punk have YOU been listening to??? these guys are good. but I can name ONE band that shits on most american punk bands: BLITZ.

  • blitz?i would have to say the ramones there one of my favorite bands.

  • just heard them and they're okay, but there are deffinately better bands than that.

  • of course there are...this band just isn't one of them. they are good tho.LOL

  • Angry Samoans, Government Issue, Black Flag, DOA, The Meatmen, Minor Threat, Bad Brains are all Great bands that are just as good if not better than Blitz!!!!!!!

  • I was taking you seriously until you started with the immature putdown. Oi does have a sound all its own but a style, nope. Section 5 is way better than blitz if you even know what I'm talking about. Be cool and stop with the putdowns, it only makes people not take you with any seriousness or credibility. Look up Section 5.........

  • You mentioned some great bands in your last comment and I was going to take back the 'immature' shit I said but then you went and fucked it ALL up by mentioning one of THEE worse fag Oi!band EVER.Better than Blitz? I think its YOU who now has to worry about being taken serious or with ANY credibility. Seriously bro, Section 5 is just plain bad. Blitz was a respectable, OOTBALL HOOLIGAN Oi! band with an intense sound and style(tho they started suckin in the later years)

  • wow, this is why Oi is stupid.

  • God damn.... this was our fucking youth, man. We embraced this band towards the tail end of high school in the late 80's and this shit spoke to us. Just plain ol' COOL Chicago punk... no frills, no gimmicks, what you see is what you get. "Jettison" was a very personal album for me and I thank you for posting this.

  • Mickey's 40oz. + $2.50 door + skinhead wall of death = Raygun shows at the Riv circa '89.

  • hell yea! naked raygun is pure amazingness <3

  • This is so fucking amazing!!!

I just went in my pants.

  • and thats why i call you... my sweet vanilla blue

  • haha OR NOT..

  • this is an amazing song!! love it so much thanks for uploading the vid.

  • Man, NR was a huge part of my life when I was entering my 20's. I love that band still today. I wish they would record some new songs. OH WEY OH!

I even wrote a song for a Gibson guitar contest and got my inspiration for the chorus from NR! (see my video)

    OH WEY OH!

  • awesome band

  • Thanks for posting this! I'm from the Chicago area and although I was never a huge punk fan other than Misfits, Black Flag and Bad Brains, this band was first for me. I've loved Naked Raygun since I was 10 or 11 and my brother let me listen to his Jettison tape (which was new at the time). I'm still looking for a video or live clip of Soldiers Requiem, which may not exist. This ones awesome too though. Thanks!

  • this song is such a classic.

  • These guys ruled chicago. "All Rise" and "Jettison" are amazing!

  • Perfect indeed.

  • weird remind me of joy division but american

  • But with a much better ratio of moping to rocking.

  • I like the Pegboy-"Strong Reaction" album and researched this band because it's the guitarist and drummer's band before Pegboy, right? This is good stuff, and I agree 100% that there are Joy Division overtones.

  • Isn't it Vanilla not Vanillia?

  • Jeff Pezzati is my cousin!

  • White girls lied to me

    no great surprise at all

when I think of what you mean to me

I shake and then I fall

  • Lost control again today, lost control again today. Lost control again today, lost control again today.

    you're not one of them.

    You're pure.

And you're something special yeah thats for sure.

You're my electric, got a black jag for you.

And thats why I call you my sweet Vanilla Blue.

  • Holy shit! I've been looking for this since 1987! Thanks for posting!

  • great punk rocker.

  • So incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chi-town punk rock!!

  • I've seen them... way back in 1989-1990 when Fractured Adolescents F/A opened for them.

  • Holy shit! You must be fucking old!

  • 31.

  • Oops...sorry. You still have 36 more years until you retire. Sucks doesn't it?

  • Yaaaaaa!!!! This band rules. My friend's dad is the drummer!!!!!

  • dude my friends dad is the bassist

  • are you something special? yeah that's for sure. Thank you

  • You puny, puny man...don't you know that Naked Raygun rules...the wasteland?!

  • One of my favs growin' up. Would kill to see em live.

  • WOW- Classic. This video is pretty old school. The guys look young- Curious to know where and when it was shot. I just saw Raygun in Seattle on a reunion tour of the west coast in November and they still rock. See 'em if you can!

  • thank you I would so much like to see them perform.

  • I shot this in '87 on super 8 at a few shows in MPLS: 7th St. Entry, sound check and live, and First Ave. I first heard this song in rough form with Ian Burgess at Chicago Recording Co. Ian was blown away by a song he recorded earlier that day. Late at night, after many drinks Ian invited Chris Johnson and me to the studio. Ian played it full volume. Vanilla Blue was one of the greatest songs of that era, a teen anthem, came out on 45, pressed in a swirl of white and blue vinyl. Phil Harder

  • @qurpje97

    job well done.

  • no glory without any money.

  • We may enjoy this and feel we are better than the others. Isnt that what it is about?

  • Power pop that should have dominated the pop radio airwaves at the time. Poor, clueless record industry.

  • badasss.

  • raygun melts faces!

  • the 80's was the greatest era for music - naked raygun, husker du, replacements, REM, minor threat, minutemen, rites of spring, sonic youth....

  • ive listened to all of their music a hundred times, and it still gives me chills..

  • i agree with you. there will never be a band like naked raygun again. every fucking song from them is a fucking hit and they're so emotional but still punk rock. on of the greatest bands of all time...

  • yes I get the chills too. My girlfriend Ally at the time (1989) introduced me to Naked Raygun, thank you Ally! Here almost 20 years later, they still sound so good.

  • Great vid thanks. Not to be a prick though, but Vanilla's spelled wrong. - Signed, the Spelling Prick

  • Great song from a great band

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!

  • They were like the "American" Clash. I am sorry but as soon as J.H. left the band they died for me (like a "cut the crap Clash." Still seeing them in NYC back in the 80's was something.

  • This music changed my life. I hope Jeff will be alright.

  • Brilliant!!! Vital punk history, thanks so much for posting this.

  • Thank you! i left my 7" o/seas & miss this song! seeing the vid is great !

  • YES I had that sort of road-warrior artwork, light blue-sleeve and blue/white vinyl single for this song. I sold mine for next-to-nothing years ago, ARRRGGGHHH!

  • you know excactly what i'm talking about! Aspoof of "slim" on the b-side from "blazing saddles"....how do we know so much??? punk forever!!

  • Raygun owes Howie a god damned eye!!!!

  • Love this video
