What console you talking about? Did you record there?
If yr talking about the vintage neve 88r, it's one of the best sounding consoles ever made. Even thou it's likely they ended up having to replace every chanel strip, pre and routing matrix on it. Which really doesn't make it vintage anymore.
Record on a neve, mix on an ssl. That's how we do it.
If the late original owner/founder Geordie Hormel (one of the heirs of the Hormel Foods product) would have seen this video clip, he'd would be spinning so sickly in his grave, as well as the longtime studio manager, who's name escapes me, I'd rather bash a full bottle of wine on her head. Allen Sides at Oceanyway is FAR TIMES SMARTER than this flat-titted nit-wit.
@Zondagavond - do you know what you're talking about? No. Dynamics is controlled by limiters and compressors. They are operated by people. Has nothing to do with the studio.
That desk, you won't get a better sound with more dynamics.
Yeah, the loudness war etc. Go listen to steve albini's work or something. You got to work in a studio to get a good sound in my books, DAW and mixing in the box sounds nasty, and the sound of a studio is down to the soundproofing, room sound, vibe, skills of the people, etc etc.
fuck me that has to be the biggest studio house know to man good lord they have more stuff in like back up and parts then i do im my whole studio put together jaw dropping
been doing projects there for years. best studio in the country. everyone has the same gear but the Village has
Jeff Greenberg the best studio operator in the record business. when you are at the village it is YOUR studio from baby band to superstar, everyone is treated the same. with dignity, respect and reverence for music as an art form. LONG LIVE THE VILLAGE!
:30 californication, great album by the red hot chili peppers, 1:00 great to see studios still using vintage gear, 4:55 haunted as in paranormal haunted? you might want to get the ghost huners in there to investigate do some thermal imaging, video, EVPs all that good stuff
LOL..Brookelyn Boyle...if it's not a fake name it oughta be...women are so lucky...they can skate into jobs and situations with no more qualifications than the fact of their tits...
That's definitely John Mayer's gear in the studio at 3:45. Steve Jordan's drum kit (same one he used to record In Repair for JM) and John's Monterey Pop Strat.
What a cool place!! I love studios. A few years ago I spent all afternoon in Abbey Rd EMI London. It was fab. No one was in number 2 which was where the Beatles made their music, and I just walked around on my own! The canteen was cool with famous faces in there.
Not true. Its because they have so many clients recording at once they need that many rooms and specific rooms are better for a certain genre of music. Notice all the hip hop and rnb artist recorded in that last studio she showed us.
no problem....it would be like a dream just to jam out in that place....i bet you can do some real soul searching in that studio..Do you have any cool pictures from one of those really cool rooms or a b card or something? i collect cool music art and stuff...
the chick reminds me of Maggie Gyellenhaal or sumthin right?

The artist who is recording at 3:53 (that room) is John Mayer.... His Monterey strat is in the line of guitars as well as his signature strat.

I have to say, I'm really quite impressed, that's up there with AIR lyndhurst & stuff, but with some propa like sexy californian chillaxe vibe.

Lol, and all this while some modern home recordings sound way better than the new studio recordings.
Products that come from studio´s like these have zero, and I really mean zero dynamics.

whats the point of more than one studio?
BrandynBoyles 4 years ago
because of the different accustic-characteristics of the different recording-rooms ;)
or just because of the size of a room. if you have to record a whole orchestra, you need a big room.
bratwurstler2 4 years ago
Not true. Its because they have so many clients recording at once they need that many rooms and specific rooms are better for a certain genre of music. Notice all the hip hop and rnb artist recorded in that last studio she showed us.

ScreaminMeemes 4 years ago
they're ok, but you don't get any of the meat you get with reel to reel tape
GeeGeeGee451 4 years ago
Thats a very ghetto looking. I was just recording at a $4,000,000 studio. Studio-H in Halifax Nova Scotia, owned by CBC Radio One
