That is one of the finest 22 bolt actions ever made.
With a little bit of work and a couple of bucks you can get it shooting olympic grade groups, (or you could sell it to me it at current blue-book value.)
I sent you a PM with my regular address, drop me a line
You remind me of the old mentor dude in movies who the hero learns all his tricks from, and then you see him at the end smiling as the hero kicks ass.
A local store in my area has a Winchester Model 69A bolt action rifle (used) for about 295 CAD. By the photo it doesn't look too dinged up. Rather well kept condition. Have to pay a visit and check it out. What are your recommendations about it?
I stumbled into winchester rifle porn by mistake but is it ok if I stay ?
I know nothing but they are some very nice looking and well made rifles you have there Mr. As your not a gun manufacture ha ha what do you recommend from the Winchester collection as a good solid first time rifle ?
i have a model 9422m and i been looking on here to try find a video on 1 and this seems to be the only vid, i friend of mine told me that 22m model is rare is that so?
i got my first .22 when i was 11 years old the bullet recashaded into my leg and i stared to roll on the ground and my dad had no clue i shot shot in the leg so its scary shooting .22 these days. p.s very nice video!
Gramps scored BIG TIME on that one! I've never seen a WMR go for under a $1000 and those were all parts guns. Pat the old gent on the back for me, that gun is literally bringing 6 times what he paid for it right now and the market's in the toilet.
Does it have the 28" barrel? ...those are over $2g's
I'll let him know for sure, I'm sure he'd love to know what a good deal he got. His grand dad bough him one when he was a kid in the 40s, and he was kicking himself ever since he sold it off in the 70s. I don't think it has a 28" barrel, I've only seen pictures. You've got a great channel here hombre!
I remember at 12 we watched a gun saftey video with John wayne. Yeh the real John Wayne. Anyway he showed the power of rifle shots on diferent things to enforce the concept of danger, like a 30-30 to a head of cabage. Great if I could find it on Youtube. "Vintage porn".
Well...Acording to the Duke..."your mother would love to use this for coleslaw" I tried to find it but no one has posted the whole thing. Just a real crappy rerecorded film reel. About 30 seconds.
Oh jesus...thanks to you sir after i went to sleep my 12 guage went on my computer and jacked off to this are you happy sir..now ive got little brass pelet stains all over my good chair! haha nice video
Awesome collection! I haven't shot a .22 in months, but I think I'll have to ventilate some tin cans tomorrow. I love those neat old guns from the 20's and 30's.
np basicly woundering if the shot would work on birds(patrage). here u can walk up to em,
u got to kick em to flush em. i might try the 22lr rat shot on stuff like birds and rabits...ill let u know how it works, on my other 22 though, not my 22lr match rifle
I've never used the "rat" or "snake"shells in my .22s, I was told they wreck the rifling in the barrel. All I use is the Wolf Target Match, it's the most accurate ammo I've found for long barrel .22LRs
You can definitely make 200 yd shots with a 22. It won't have any useful stopping power at that range, but it will punch holes in tin cans. If the gun is set for 100 yd, wait for a calm day and start with a point of hold 2" above center, if that doesn't work, aim 1" higher every shot until you hit it. The drop should only be an extra 3" at that range, but that will vary with barrel length, ammo type, and the hight of your sights off the barrel.
Great video, well done, and I love the commentary!! Some great classic rifles. Now if I could just convince the wife that it's normal to have 15 rimfires in the gunsafe. She doesn't think it's okay to have more than 1 rifle in the same caliber.
Be sure and come back for part 2, I've got a model 1897 from 1909, an 1894 from the late 40's and a tack driving model 70 in 30'06 that puts craters in that steel target.
We have a 69 rifle that was my grandpas but its very beaten up :(

@FirearmFanatic99 Absolutely. The 69 and the 69A are both great guns.

Either way I can't remember the last time I felt so flattered.

You could always be like Obi-Wan Kenobi and keep coming back as a ghost with a .22.

@chitoryu12 Would it be alright if I came back with the Colt or the 94?
I can put up a tighter pattern with small bore but there's just no stopping power.

That seems to be a good price, it's an excellent rifle.
Very accurate.
The only difference between the 69 and the 69a is that the 69 cocks as you close the bolt and the 69A cocks as you open it.

Sorry I missed this post, I try to respond to every question.
Model 69's and 69a's are still affordable and very accurate bolt actions..
The 74's are good shooters but anything you find will probably need work.

Thanks for the reply.
I want something ready to point and pull.
Something that is not going to blow my shoulder off but stop what ever is coming my way lol.
I have always loved the Winchester's but as you appear to be a jedi on the subject anything off the shelf ???
many thanks

The Winchester 94 in 30/30 or 32 WS is a great gun.
It will stop anything you might run into.
I really can't tell you much about the market in the UK.
Here in the US you can find a nice one for under $500
(less if you don't mind some dings on it).
The ammo is inexpensive and the kick isn't excessive.
With a 20" barrel it has an effective range of 200 yd and with practice it's accurate to that range.
You won't be able to add a scope, but a micrometer sight would work well and is easily installed.
Marcucco 2 years ago
We are getting there.
I would like one with a scope though.
I fully appreciate your knowledge on these fine rifles and am now super keen to have my own and practice like a man possessed.
One I can mount a scope on ?
Thank you

shannonvinni 2 years ago
It wasn't a real popular chambering for the 94, but there's enough out there so I wouldn't call it rare.
I think guys that wanted the 22 mag for targets bought longer barrel bolt actions and the hunters went with semi autos.
Marcucco 2 years ago
oh fair enough, its just there arnt any videos of them on here, i might have to make one
shannonvinni 2 years ago
I broke it out the other day, just to check up on it.
I fired 2 shots at 125 yards and the holes were touching.
I wish I could coax that fishercat out into the open

Hey,
I just stumbled on to your videos, looking for the Mech Tech CCU.
I like your point of view about chemistry and shooting. I always considered it "Engineering not marksmanship"
I shoot 1000 yard competition with a stock Rem. 700 .308, against guys with bullet shooting machines. I use a bipod and a squeeze bag.
Nice videos.

c2c2p1 3 years ago
There's no love lost between me and rats, but firing from a bench rest is chemistry, not marksmanship,
...and the kids popping rats with high end BB guns are a joke.
You're gonna drop $2000+ to kill a rat?
and you want people to think you're a great hunter when you're plugging them off a pile of bait with a bipod and sand bags?
C'mon.
Marcucco 3 years ago
lol just asking saw it in ur vid, iv never used it and i heard it sucked, woundering if u might have used it on birds.
c2c2p1 3 years ago
I didn't mean to jump in your sh!t, honest, maybe I don't understand what you're asking.
The only birds I shoot are ducks, and pheasant when I can find them. I was using a browning A5 "sweet 16" but I traded it for the 9422m and the 74.
Not the best deal I ever made but what the hell.
I'm hot to try the 1897 in the field, it's got a 30" full choke barrel. but I been spoiled by the semi-auto Browning.
I wonder how I'll do with a pump
