Woooo-hoooo! Sick bike! Go Ninjaaaaaa! What a nice friend to drive sick in the rain to store someone else's bike. If you need a Ninja fix, I'll letcha ride mine. :)
Aw, just found this old classic! I remember that day! I had the flu. Thanks again for this! I still miss Shamu. It would be fun to get a li'l Ninja again, if just for the track. Still, I definitely have a bike that suits me better now (and one that's much more comfortable for you to borrow LOL). :-)
Good on you for trying a sport bike for the first time Chuck! A memorable video indeed. Yeah, we have been getting bombarded with wet weather lately too. :(
good one man but sounded a little sore... To be fair I know how you feel with the ride position and Im only 24 with a dodge leg... after about 30 mins to an hour sports kill me... So I ride an inbetween... Naked bikes... one day I will get myself a nice cruiser like my mechanic keep telling me to
I really do regret not letting you take ALF out for a spin when you were down last year. I'm with you. I just can't see myself riding a sport bike for that long of a distance. My hip just hurts thinking about it.
Now that is a change!! I really like those bikes but like you I have alot of trouble getting my legs to bend with my bad knees and could never really get comfortable on one that's why I went with the WR250X, alot more comfortable riding position!
Not the best weather to be riding a bike you're not used to. But it seems you had no problems (besides the foo pegs). Rain is supposed to hit here in SoCal next week. We definitely need it. Take care and rsmf...
After the first two hours of rain the pavement is actually not bad. It's just not that enjoyable for the person on the bike. I still think its a win learning to operate something new.
My young knees were aching just thinking of your pain!! I rode a sport bike once and loved it, minus the neck strain. If I had the dough, I'd own all different types and brands - kind of like Jay Leno.

@lauriejennifer The ninja was ok but the KLX is awesome fun to ride. :)

Just found/saw this.
Did they parachute you in?
Did the wife just push you out the car door and say "See ya"?
SportyRyder. I like that. ;->
KeukaRyder 2 years ago
It was the second choice. LOL
My legs were a bit cramped but otherwise it was fun to ride.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Jlyns bike., cool, it doesnt look that way right now.Hope she gets it back shortly.

It's a bit beat up looking now but the local mechanics are good at the Kawi dealer.

I did notice the roads look familiar. I live in mchenry.
zx6roy 2 years ago
I see you are from Fox Lake.
Maybe you could join my friends and me for some rides next riding season if you would like.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
you did a fine job for never riding a sport bike-a buddy of mine washed out the front end of my bike in the rain and he rides harleys.
zx6roy 2 years ago
wOW. Trial by fire, a sportsbike and raining all in the same day. SR is "the man" for helping out another biker.

I want to know if you are wearing her pink back pack too? : )

I would but pink makes my hips look big. :P

LOL

Eh.... probably better than wandering down the road dodging cars. LOL
I'm probably a lot less boring when people watch me drunk too.

Nothing like learning it the hard way.
After that everything is gravy. LOL

Yep for me it's only short trips on that type of bike. Still I'm glad I tried it.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Since you posted this video I have to believe you made it home ;-> I hope you aren't experiencing any leg cramps.
KeukaRyder 2 years ago
Yep all went smooth.
No problems.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Watching the turn signal light was lower on my priority list at the time.
Not scratching LJ's bike was kind of high priority. :-)
suburbanryder 2 years ago
It was not a position I have ever rode in before I'll tell you that.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
A bike with upright seating is all day comfy. You should sit on some. The lean forward position gets tiring real fast. Why I got the 650r,its comfy.
invisiblemon 2 years ago
So would you recommend something more like say.... a Triumph Amerca?. :-)
suburbanryder 2 years ago
early triumphs had a bit of lean forward seating.I had 2 triumphs a trophy 500 and a 750 trident.
invisiblemon 2 years ago
So does this mean you are going to get a sport bike for DG4?
britex3186 2 years ago
I was thinking....... maybe ...... not !
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Sorry you had to be seen on this thing.... : )

I took the back way so none of my friends would see me. :-)

sweat,,lol...im telling LJ you were popping wheelies on her bike..lol..great vid bro
mr1night 2 years ago
Just a few accidental stoppies but no wheelies.
LOL
suburbanryder 2 years ago
i'm glad to see you starting out on a 250...
sport. :)

Should I try a Hyabusa in the rain next?
Seems like the next logical choice.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
omg uncle chuck. it scares me knowing you are on a sportbike. but that is kind of cool. :D
TwinCult 2 years ago
It was a different experience for me. That's for sure.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
could tell you're used to your Big Comfy Couch
Hope LJ gets well soon
saskscout 2 years ago
I would not think of taking a sport bike on a long trip ever.
Although at a place like Deals Gap if one were there waiting for me I wouldn't turn in down.
suburbanryder 2 years ago

I agree.
It's all about the position you can feel comfortable in.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Interesting video. View was good as well!
ZMagic97 2 years ago
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. My head position was a bit different on this bike.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
I had the same feeling when I got my CBR; I thought my head would be facing too far down for decent vologging.
ZMagic97 2 years ago
Next season, I'm hopping on my SV650 and meeting up with some of you guys, even though I don't Vlog.
You seem like a good guy SR.

Just wait till LJ's next vid titiled "SuburbanRyder Stole My Bike At Work"
LOL just kidding
Sure come on up next season and ride with us.

Chuck when are you going to start doing track days lol. I see FZ1 in your future or something like that now hahaha.
Pittimus84 2 years ago
If I came into money somehow I would certainly have at least one type of sport bike along with many others.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Oh no! Tell me it ain't so! SuburbanRyder on a sport bike. My world just turned upside down! LOL
Wow, really nasty weather to be riding an unfamiliar bike.
Take care,
Rob

Up until LJ called me I really believed I would never drive a sport bike of any kind ever.
The weather this fall has been way wetter than normal.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Dude, really looked way too wet to try out a bike type you're not used too. *pat on your back*
Wasn't so bad, was it? :) All those years of riding experience must count for something
M3anMachin3 2 years ago
I live for danger!
No.... actually with decent tires after the first two hours the pavement is fine for riding even in the rain.
Yes, the over 30 years of riding does help a lot too.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
My young knees were aching just thinking of your pain!! I rode a sport bike once and loved it, minus the neck strain. If I had the dough, I'd own all different types and brands - kind of like Jay Leno.

LJ called me a few hours later and was feeling better.

thats cool man. did you ditch your car at the mall, or did ya get a ride?
eltatertoto 2 years ago
My wife gave me a ride to the mall. It's very close to my house.
suburbanryder 2 years ago
Wahhhhh!!!! I didn't see that coming mate!
Awesome! HAHA. Gonna trade the cruiser in now ;D just kidding.
8cuttlefish8 2 years ago
These old bones can only take that leaning forward for a short ride. I still prefer upright and comfy. :-)
