  • That lady and man are really stupid. That python could crush either of them if it wanted to. Keep it well fed dimwits.

  • F this dude...im so F'n pissed...boas and pythons are great pets in the US

  • Hide yo kids from this dude...

  • my god thts a big red tail

  • Than we are wandering why some call us crazy white people.

  • @LukaSerb1 just to add, being white makes us automatic racists!

  • nice video, my son has two red tails, we love snakes! However, there should be open season on the invasive species in Florida... They are destroying the natural balance of the states native species..If a human is killed by one of these, then ANYONE who supports their survival is criminal in my mind....they do not belong, and should be REMOVED NOW...

  • Fuck you for trying to get people to kill Burmese python for meat that is sick!

  • @kiara282 No! Don't kill the pythons for meat; you make more money with the skins! Decapitate, skin, gut, and cut up the meat into bite-size chunks for the native predators. Turn the tables on the invasive species. Feed our predators and make money from the skins. It's a win-win situation.

Eradication: the best solution, the ONLY solution.

  • @Inquisitor53 your fucking sick !!!

  • @Lucinda785 Coming from an emo I consider that a compliment!

So tell me, oh wise one, how would you deal with an invasive species that's killing off all your native wildlife? Since there's several thousand of them out there I would really love to hear you solution. Really. If you have one, great. If not then STFU & go slit your wrists.

  • @Inquisitor53 What? Still no response from the aging goth queen? Is it because you don't have a logical answer, just an 'emo' tional one? So much for rationality from the emo side.

  • @Inquisitor53 1) i dont even know where you get this emo crap 2) i own 4 snakes 3 of them will grow probaly more than 12 ft so if you dont own a snake then you dont know nothing about them wich makes you ignorent and selfish 3) they are an andangered speices in there own country so my solution (wich btw i have one thanks for asking :) ) would be to capture them and send them back to there country oh and btw you no nothing about snakes so SHUT THE FUCK UP !!!!

  • @Lucinda785 1. Dump the EMOtional baggage & deal with the facts. 2. Just because you own them doesn't mean you know shit about them. Those dumping them in the 'glades is a prime example. Also, since you know nothing about me your statement concerning "ignorent (sic) and selfish" is moot. You're also a rather bad speller. 3. Why are they "andangered" (again your spelling is atrocious)? Maybe they're ENDANGERED because they're being sold to idiots in the US who think it's cool to own an exotic ...

  • @Inquisitor53 ...animal because their easily-bruised egos think they're nothing without one (or more). Ironically, it's your 'love" for these exotics that are decimating their numbers in their original habitat (can you say hypocrite?). Your solution to the problem is flawed on many points. For one, it is now illegal in FL to have in one's posession an unchipped python. FL now states the only unchipped python in one's posession must be a dead one. Also, how would you gather them? where would ...

  • @Inquisitor53 ... store them until the the ship or plane arrived to take them back? Where would you get the money to feed the many thousands of pythons? Who's to pay the transportation fees? You?

Where were you when I put out the call to come get them over a decade ago? Were you not one of the many that were in either total denial that the problem exists or one of those who issued me a death threat for even bringing the problem into the light? Doesn't matter.

Do you have a 'Plan B'?

  • @Inquisitor53 you do have to know EVERYTHING about snakes to own them and yes i am a bad speller ( im dyslexic )and im not an american im fucking english you dope and i own snakes becuase i rescue them from bad homes and people that dont know how to look after them properly and tbh you started this i just thought your idea was a bit sick im allowed my own opinion everything deserves to be on this planet as much as me and you :)

  • @Lucinda785 I'm not concerned with your bad spelling, I'm concerned about your ignorance of what this exotic species doing to Florida's native wildlife. Youi're right about your opinion, that's all it is. You know nothing about Florida's ecosystems and the conversation is about the destruction brought on by invasivive species, pythons in particular. So stick with the original subject matter. Yes, I agree. Pythons deserve to live but only in their native habitat, and that damn sure isn't Florida!

  • @Lucinda785 You still haven't answered my question: Do you have a functional 'Plan B'?

  • These things good or bad can hit a human being without breaking a sweat so having things like that in their houses is really stupid, now some people can look after them very well but to have them in the wild with kids and people walking about could be really dangerous,i don't like snakes as they will always have that reptile attitude, anything that looks like food could be attacked which means, you or someone of your families, sorry but they need to be kept as far away from human or killed.

  • @akebefrontiere your an idiot..and because you hate snakes you are not educated properly about them. :) learna thing or too before you go bashing peoples pets and livelyhoods!!

  • @MKAY4U Who's the idiot here? You're saying some one's livelyhood is more important than an ecosystem being destroyed by an invasive species. You need to learn a thing or two about Florida's ecosystems before opening your mouth about "peoples (sic) pets and livelyhoods!!"

  • @MKAY4U I don't hate snakes. I LOVE are native species of florida snakes; They're a NATURAL part of Florida's ecosystem. Exotics on the other hand, are an INVASIVE species destroying much of the native wildlife. It's why every winter I go into the Everglades hammocks, find those seeking shelter from the cold and with one swing of my razor-sharp machete decapitate every one of them I locate. The cool (if not cold) weather really makes them sluggish, so even when they see the blade coming ...

  • @Inquisitor53 ... there's no way they can avoid it. About 2" behind the skull and they're no longer suffering from their misery of the cold temps. Of course I could stuff manchineel fruit down their throats but hey, I believe in the most humane method of "euthanization" as possible, and this method comes with the recommendation of the FWC (God bless 'em!). And just like those in the exotic pet trade I have to make money for my efforts so after nailing their carcass to a tree (to stop the ...

  • @Inquisitor53 ...majority of their writhing) & I start skinning. Good money in python skins. What's left over I hack up into small pieces for the NATIVE wildlife to dine on. I like to think of it as turning the tables on the invaders, give them the karma the so richly deserve. Some of you might not like it, might even feel rage over it but hey, anybody wanting to stop me please feel free to come to the western 'glades & TRY to stop me but only if you're willing to put your life on the line...

  • In the wild a Burmese Python MIGHT come across one mate each season. So you are honestly telling me that because a few Joe's let their pets out in the everglades that it started a breeding population? hahahahahaha, that's hilarious. That is the most ridiculous claim a person of science could make. You should be ashamed of yourself. It's people like you that give the python "trade" a bad name. Do us all a favor and jump off a bridge... make sure to aim for landing on your head.

  • @passionspythons Ridiculous claim? Well then can you explain why there is such a large population of burmese pythons in the everglades and why the only showed up after people started importing them as pets? It's more then a few joe's were talking about here. It's not a huge problem were i live because there is snow on the ground 4 months of the year but people don't realize how big they actually get and the get let go all the time.

  • @lesouder2222 Pyhtons can not live in cold temperatures as soon as you have a cold winter in the everglades they will be wiped out!! Plus there is a huge highway down there, that they can in no way cross without getting hit. I think they should enforce micro chipping with pythons from all pet stores and family breeders. That way if someone happened to let one go they can be tracked and convicted. Taking away this trade all together not only would be sad and take away our constitutional rights

  • @MKAY4U but it also will put many families on the street.

  • @MKAY4U RE: Wiped out.

Have you not paid attention to our past two winters (31*F last year in the glades, 28*F the year before). Their range has expanded into central Florida. So much for your wipe out.

You're taking the adaptability of nature for granted. They stay alive by staying in the warmer water and burrowing into abandoned gator nests, rotted trunks, etc. for insulation.

The huge highway (I-75/Alligator Alley) has many canals flowing under it. Lots of bridges & panther crossings.

  • @Inquisitor53 You may think you know something about your burms but not about their behaviour in our unique ecosystem. It's obvious you don't know much about Florida and our environment, even less about the glades.

Have you even visited the glades?

Are you willing to risk the extinction of many rare fauna found only in the glades just so somebody can make a buck selling an INVASIVE species?

Why are python-lovers tossing common sense out the window?

    Eradication is the only solution.

  • @passionspythons RE: In the wild.

You mean in it's NATIVE habitat, where it has NATURAL predators to keep it's population in check. Not so in the glades; far fewer predators mean far more offspring survive. I've witnessed breeding masses in the early spring. Easy pickings.

You previously stated they don't have a season, they breed year 'round. So which is it?

For someone who's never been here you're making yourself look rather foolish spouting all supposition and no facts.

  • your wrong man, burms won't travel, they're territorial and if they were forced out they can't survive in places like Texas, new Mexico, Tennessee. that weather is not they metabolism can take, now MAYBE Georgia and Alabama but not for long. the everglades are just perfect for them, and mating season in the everglades? its mating season all year around for them there. no one in Florida for some reason isn't getting what these amazing predators are capable of doing

  • @hondafordRE: Burms won't travel. Burms are now found as far north as Sarasota Co. on the Gulf coast and Indian River Co. on the Atlantic. They got there from the glades...how? Parachute?

The glades are NOT perfect for them. The glades is NOT the Indo-China peninula. It gets down to freeing in the glades some years (the last two). Burms going to mate in cold weather?

Yes, we in Florida know extactly what this INVASIVE SPECIES is capable of, such as wiping out rare native wildlife.

  • I'm just going to say that their is nothing anyone can do to stop this problem anymore

  • @hondaford Sure there is: decapitate, skin & butcher. My daughter's tayra locates them for me, especially females (she loves the females, she knows I'll let her feed on their eggs after I gut them). Eliminate the females & the battle against their invasion is over halfway solved. Since it's now a year-round open season on pythons (as long as you're not using a firearm) The tayra & I are putting a dent in their population & I'm sure the native predators like the hacked-up meat I leave for them.

  • @TombstoneAnnieOakly: other than the check out stand at your grocery store, where are you getting your (mis)information from??? There is no "ban". the PENDING legislation was amending the lacey act. you have demonstated yourself numerous times as a extremely unreliable source of information. do you happen to be involved with peta or the hsus?

  • burms in everglades has been a problem for while... but the population wasnt as bad untill huricane andrew when snake traders buildings and boats were destroyed and thats why the populations as larg as it is

  • @169batman691 Wrong! I've witnessed their growth & range expansion long before Hurricane Andrew hit south Florida. Before you go spouting your so-called 'facts' I suggest you have a talk w/ those of us who've lived here since the '60s, long before the was a python problem. I trust their 'words' far more than your 'facts'.

  • It's not our trade that's destroying the Everglades, it's just a few idiots that didn't realize how big their pets would become. If people were more educated about reptiles, this wouldn't have happened.

They are beautiful animals that should be respected, not hated or feared irrationally. They do not belong in Florida, and that is the fault of a few individuals. I think that permits for larger snakes is reasonable, but the thousands of responsible snake keepers do not deserve to suffer.

  • @totalwombatfan "It's not our trade that's destroying the Everglades..." BULLSHIT! That's like a dynamite salesman selling his wares to a child. "It's not my fault. It's just a few idiots not knowing how big a bang their 'toy' can be." Your statement is nothing more than passing the buck. They don't belong here, never did. All of you python peddlers knew that & the problems that could arise if more than "just a few" were set loose. The blame lies with all python peddlers. Your karma's coming.

  • @totalwombatfan well said

  • That guy is an idiot if he thinks burms will extend their range outside southern Florida. A "snake expert" should know they can't survive freezing temps. They weren't released from pet owners, but escaped from importers during hurricane andrew. This clip pretends to be science but is nothing more than BS sensationalism made by people repeating misinformation and paranoia for grant money and attention.

  • And what does a boa have to do with burms? Totally different animal. They've been kept in the US for over 30 years and no feral populations exist. It isn't giant snakes people should fear, but "scientist" (and I use that term very loosely) who don't know what the hell they are talking about.

  • punk: re: your 1st & 2nd sentences.

It seldom freezes in the Glades. It seldom freezes in the south Tampa Bay area.

    3rd sentence:

There were pythons in small numbers in the glades BEFORE Andrew.

    The rest of your statement:

You need to read the October issue of Outdoor Life, page 8. It's only four paragraphs long but it speaks volumes. Read it, then talk your shit.

You're not as intelligent as you think.

  • re: Your most recent posting:

You ever been into the Everglades? Have you asked any one living here about the ecological destruction caused by the pythons? If that's the case it seems really stupid on your part to make comment when you only know half the subject matter, the pythons. From what you mentioned about south Florida you don't know shit about the other half of the equation (I know both) & that's why you need to S.T.F.U. until you know what's happening with both sides of the equation.

  • What ecological destruction are you referring to? The endangered species (such as the Key Largo wood rat) that were endangered BEFORE the burms?

I do know there isn't any thing that can be solved be a bunch of idiots with guns.

  • You obviously know very little about reptiles. I've kept, bred, and sold more snakes than you and your buddies will ever see. While we're promoting magazine subscriptions, perhaps you should consider Reptiles magazine.

  • Punk: You are too wrapped up in your snakes emotionally to logically look at what Florida state officials have been saying for years concerning the destruction of the Everglades from the invasive nature of the burmese pythons.

Perhaps you need to be reading a few reports from the state of Florida concerning the burms & their destruction of the 'glades before you read any more reptile magazines. Then come back & talk. Until then all you're doing is spewing shit and telling lies.

  • Ecological tragedy.

  • earthling404: This winter on cold & cloudy days in the glades the pythons will be most vulnerable. Most of them will be in the hammocks seeking shelter from the cold winds, Most will be dormant. That's when about 30 of us native floridians will go into those hammocks & initiate a mass slaughter of the pythons, hopefully by the thousands. We will do our best to rid the 'glades of this invader!

  • Inquisitor53: the thousands? I don't think so.

  • You think my group is the only one out there? You don't think we are smart enough to unite with other python hunters to form both a tactical & strategic plan of attack? Damn boy, over 70% of us out there are ex-military. We'll be in the 'glades by the hundreds and you'll never know we were there.

  • Yeah, whatever tough guy. Nothing screams intelligence like a bunch rednecks with guns.

  • Comment removed

  • And nothing screams stupidity like an idiot that can't answer just one of several simple questions like: Who mentioned guns? Have you read the article yet? How about any Florida Wildlife Commission's bulletins or state biologists' statements on the subject? I can answer that for you with a "NO!" because reading the FACTS might shatter those rose-colored glasses of yours by proving you wrong and that would shatter your world as you know it.

Damn, don't you hate it when the facts get in your way?

  • How many more lies you plan to spew in a vain attempt to cover your self-indulgence in ignorance? Is the endangered Key largo Woods Rat the best you can think of? We're talking every nesting bird in the 'Glades, along with every animal that won't eat it, & if it's young enough & small enough it will it too, such as the apex predator the alligator, you ignorant ass!

Now have a discussion with someone dum enough to believe your ignorant shit 'cause nobody's buying it here!

  • For once you are correct, the apex predator is the american alligator, which itself preys not only on the burms, but "every nesting bird in the 'Glades" as well.

  • 1) No, I don't have a subsciption to Redneck Weekly.

    2) Wildlife officials are just making this out for grant money.

    3) Shatter my world? WTF.?

    4) Everyone that has read this is laughing at you and your proficiency with a battle axe...who are you Conan the Barbarian?

    5) I've tried correcting you, but you would rather believe misinformation so you can pretend your'e a tough guy ...grow up.

  • 1. It's Outdoor Life & it is on the internet. So much for reducing your ignorance.

    2. Since you've never been to Florida, especially the 'glades, you have no basis for make such a statement. Ergo, another lie from you.

    3. You're unwilling to view the facts because they would prove you wrong. A person unwilling to accept the truth & further compound his statements with lies is definitely immature.

    4. To be proficient with a battle-ax requires knowing how to use the mechanics of leverage...

  • (4. cont.)... not strength. Apparently you think everything coming out of hollyweird is truth. This is another sign of ignorance & immaturity on your part.

    5. Now this is damned hilarious.

    a. I'm not the one in the conversation with their head up their ass. I LIVE in Florida, you don't. I've seen the damage, you haven't. I'm not the one in need of correction, you are.

    b. Your said you've kept, bred, & sold more snakes than I'll & my buddies will ever see (again, another lie).

  • 5c. I never said I was tough, just a hell of a lot more smarter and damn sure more mature than you'll ever be. You don't know shit about Florida & it's ecosystems, I do. You don't know what it takes to survive the wilds here, I do. I also know how to thrive anywhere in any ecosystem in the Florida wilderness. That's why I make the big bucks teaching it & you don't. I dare say you lack too much in smarts & maturity to handle even a few hours out here without getting yourself killed.

  • You didn't mention a website, but a magazine article.

I have been to Florida. The National Reptiles Breeders Expo is in Daytona.

By calling your arguments "the facts" begs the question. I think maturity looks at both sides of issue before making a position. It is also wise to question everything and not take at face value what the media and politicians are saying.

The fact that you even own a battle axe speaks volumes about your mental state.

  • You have yet to tell me any damage on the eco-system caused by burms.

I called you tough guy because you keep bragging about being all exmilitary-survivalist-weapons expert. I can't decide if you are the type on an FBI watch list or someone with just low self-esteem...or just a 14 year old.

I don't care what it takes to survive in swamp; I have a house. And since we are talking careers, I make my money selling snakes.

  • 1. I have but you aren't listening.

    2. Have the FBI check me out. It'll give me good grounds for suing your ass for libel. I don't give a damn what you think of me.

    3. My 2,300 sq. ft. home is next to a good-size spring feeding a swamp & creek. You wish you had it so good.

    4. Making your money selling snakes. That expains EVERYTHING about your prejudicial blind eyes. I give you a prediction: In two years you'll be looking for another line of business. No threat, just a prediction.

  • 1 more time: True, gators (for now) are the apex predator but that will soon change. Gators will eat nestlings but only those fallen from nests. Your 'burms' though, can & will climb trees to get not only the nestlings but their parents as well. You going to tell me burms don't climb trees? Almost any animal is within reach of a python, not so with gators, or haven't you figured that out yet?

  • I just think that the burms are yet another exotic (but not invasive) species that has established itself in an environment that ALREADY has changed dramatically over recent years. The endangered species that may fall prey to them were ALREADY endangered.

Unfortunately, the media and grant-hungry state biologist are exploiting this situation and making it out to be a problem that it is not.

  • I REALLY wish you could see what your trade has done to the Everglades. I wish you had grown up around the area to truly witness how quick it's native species are being extripiated by foreign species. I agree other species share the blame & I do what I can to eliminate them as well but do we really need the pythons in there to help the other exotics finish off the glades for good? Maybe you would've gone into another, less destructive business.

  • 1. I gave you the legal definition of an invasive species, which qualifications the burms do not meet.

    2. You can't sue someone just because you yourself are an idiot and make foolish statements. You must get your legal counsel from the same place as your "science".

    3. I don't envy someone living in a swamp.

    4. Making money selling snakes shows I probably know more about them. Why do you think I'd be done in 2 years? I'm having fun and making money. Looks like you fail as a psychic also.

  • 1. Screw the legal definition, we both know that they're not native, they're breeding, their range is spreading, they are eating native species faster than native predators could & they have none of their native predators to keep their population in check.

Now tell me that those pythons aren't an invasive species. You could but we both know it would be a lie.

    2. I see what your trade has done to the 'glades, you won't.

    3. I don't live in the swamp. Another misread by you.

  • 4. Your trade is destorying the 'glades & soon enough you will be legally stopped.

Meanwhile, with every python I decapitate I'll be thinking of you.

    Have a good evening.

  • What "my trade has done to the 'glades"? WTF? I didn't know my "trade"was Hurricane Andrew (since that is how the burms got there).

Legally stopped...haha, you're funny. Besides, how would that help the situation with Burms in the everglades? It won't. It will just make a black market, in which case prices may go up. Don't worry about me though, I raise cornsnakes which are native to the everglades anyway.

Have fun at your PETA meeting.

  • Again, you've missed out on what I'm all about. I am not a PETA fan.

I cherish all native wildlife but I do hunt & fish to put food on my table.

The only thing I kill but won't eat are invasives (except for pigs). I'll kill boars & sows all day long & leave them for the vultures to eat but a pig under 75 lbs. I put in my smokehouse.

I don't live in a swamp but on a slight rise facing one. The spring is on my property, feeding a creek that feeds the swamp that feeds into a river.

  • There's a female gator building a nest in that swampthat's just inside my property line. I protect her & her nest from both 2 & 4 legged vermin, with one of my firearms if need be.

It's invasives I kill & leave to rot, or leave as gator or buzzard feed. If it don't belong it needs to be gone.

I'll still kill pythons & don't care about how I do it. They don't belong.

Good to hear that you're at least raising some natives. Cornsnakes are cool. I wish natives were all you raised.

    G' night.

  • While I enjoy all snakes, cornsnakes are the only species that I do breed. However, I do have friends that keep burms, and most people in the reptile community are knowledgeable and responsible individuals.

  • A friend of mine has ball python . It's a female He knows how I feel about burms but his female's microchipped & he has a permit. He's a responsible owner. I'm still not too happy being around it but he said she won't get any larger than 6 - 7 ft. True?

She has her own room that stays locked & whenever she's out she's always in his hands or draped around his shoulders. He does love it. I wish it were a native but I do respect him for his responsibility & he respects my stand on invasives.

  • Most of the accidents that the media reports on occur from the jackasses who have a big snake, not because they enjoy the animal, but because they think it makes them cool.

The animal is abused and when accidents do happen, it's a black eye to those of us who properly do take care of our animals. We spend most of our time, energy, and income on our hobby/business and to only get attention when a novice makes bad choices is unfair.

  • Inquistor53-

While I do enjoy debating the subject, I must admit that many times my responses to your post have been mixed with ad hominem attacks.

While I do feel just as strongly as you do (albeit a different side of the argument as yourself) I think that my childish responses have only hurt my case.

For this I apologize, and I hope we can both keep our emotions from clouding the issue.

  • Same here. I too, tend to get emotional but I remember the 'glades as a young boy having few, if any, exotics. That was almost 50 years ago. It saddens me to see its decline over the decades. It makes me feel old.

It's true that change is what life is all about but we humans shouldn't be the catalyst. All too often we are.

I was raised to be a part of nature, not fight it. What I forage & wildcraft I scatter the seeds from the edible & medicinal flora in same area I gather them.

    Later...

  • @Inquisitor53 I don't care if you decapitate pythons. The pythons in the everglades does need that kind of attention. Thank god you have winter on your side lol but it is absolutely ridiculous to have all of the us banded from 8 different snake species other than a burm. Its crazy to even say they can live outside of the everglades and its crazy to take away peoples business and pets because Florida has a problem!! Thank god we as a reptile nation worked together to smash the ban

  • @Inquisitor53 bitch about feral cats!! they have been over populating the entire U.S for years and eating "native" species. They can handle all weather conditions. Unlike the python who will get a respiratory infection with temps under 75 and die!!! Be educated before you start running your mouth :D

  • crazy

  • thats one big boa nice snake mine is not even close to that
