  • God I miss this guy

  • red conservative here. I thought Harper was going to send us to Iraq? I thought he was going to build aircraft carriers and put troops in our cities? I thought he was going to ban gay marriage and abortion? Almost all the criticisms originally leveled at Harper have not come true. I'm pretty left when it comes to social issues so I don't see what you're all crying about. The deficit can be blamed on the US housing crash and you all know it. It wasn't Harper's handling our the economy.

  • @jeroliver harper wasnt going to send us to iraq after the outpouring against it, he didnt propose to do it after getting in office, but when the iraq war started he was for it. meaning if he were PM at the time we would be committed to that war crime. so he was ignorant about facts

  • @gasper47 fair argument. I'd have to say that most people didn't know what to think about the Iraq / WMD lies. So they based their opinion on bias. Chretien said no to committing our troops to Iraq because he didn't like the conservatives in Washington, not because he had a better grasp on the facts. As you can tell from this video, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

  • @jeroliver far from being any nerd, ive always had an interest in history, military history and political history. i was 20 years old when the war started and i already knew before the bombs dropped that it was pure bullshit. saddam is known as a secular leader, why do you think he was americas ally for all those years. he waged a war against iran and its islamic revolution. he was a known enemy of osama bin laden and every other secular mid east leader..

  • @jeroliver its not about the wmd. america wouldnt go to war with just any nation that had unconfirmed wmd's. it was about the threat. as a young man then and still i already know, iraq wouldnt have ever used wmd's on america and for that same reason neither would iran. theyre not stupid, they dont want to destroy their own countries...but people like bush would tell you this you sarah palin types can make a 'vote' on the fate of millions of people and their families.

  • you underestimated war because youve never experienced it, youve never seen foreign checkpoints on your street, a foreign army telling you what to do, killing your people, filling your skies with black smoke and death.....'he MAY have wmd's, lets bomb him'

  • @gasper47 you knew the WMD lies were bullshit? no. you didn't. Maybe you guessed right. but that still is only a guess. The weapon inspectors said plenty of chem and bio weapons, they had previously seen, went missing. I don't believe there were any nukes. And I also believe it was used as an excuse for war. We're on the same page there. However, Chretien and yourself based your OPINION on whether Iraq had WMD's on bias. It had nothing to do with facts. I saw no solid evidence on either side.

  • @jeroliver like i said, it wasnt about having them it was about whether he was going to use them against america.

    a) america fought iraq in the kuwait war and saddam didnt use them against american soldiers, b) yore wrong, the inspectors had found nothing, and the UN was doubtful the whole time. saddam was doing a very generous favour if you ask me. america is drumming for war and here is saddam letting weapons inspectors check his military hardware. inspectors that mayor may not contain spies

  • @jeroliver plus they had said saddam had a program in the late 80's where he destroyed his wmd's for the UN. again let me remind you, its not about if he had wmd's...the whole reason for this was the THREAT TO AMERICA...remember? you probably didnt know then, but these alleged wmd's were made from texas companies during the iran/iraq war. companies manufacturing gases and chemicals under cover of "pestisides"...i know this from reading, world leaders should know too...unfortunatly bush, palin

  • @jeroliver its not about americas supplied wmd's, because the US was ok with that when iraq used them against iran, it was the threat to america, which every world leader should know, doesnt make sense. secular, islamist hating...and it wasnt about saddams threat to his own people because for years the US loved him for suppressing islamists. and the US didnt have a problem when he was gassing the shit out of iranians so dont tell me the kurds..and talk about assuming, you underestimate war

  • @jeroliver so, in essence, yes youre right, i didnt know for a fact is he had wmd's, but despite the circumstances saddam was complying. he also had enemies in his neighborhood so he couldnt bow down completely. but to assume wmd, to pull inspectors out for war, to play the public (who is too dumb to realize that a threat from iraq is impossible, as is for iran, syria, jordan, egypt, etc..) do you understand what i mean when i say you underestimate war because youve never lived it, youre family

  • @jeroliver btw, you have all the reasons in the world for going into pakistan but you wouldnt dar invade that terrorist haven. youre problem is not an arab one, 911 was done by arabs in pakistan, indonesia, afghanistan. all youre problems stem from pakistan which has one of the most government created terrorist groups in the world, most made to kill innocent indians but as long as you dont fix the problem its always going to come back and hit you, and poor iraqis had to suffer..again

  • @gasper47 It sounds like you're trying to convince me that Iraq wasn't a threat. U don't need to do that, I know they weren't a treat. The US military industrial complex, Bilderberg group, the CFR and the New World Order needed new wars to expand their agenda. They used 911 to start them. 911 was probably an inside job. It definitely wasnt Osama. And Osama was not killed recently by US forces. It's all lies.

My point was that no one knew anything for sure about Iraq then. It was anyone's guess.

  • @jeroliver ok fine, but it was osama, not the planning but the financing.the planning was done by ramzi yousef and khaled sheikh mohammed, yousef and mohammed bombed the wtc the first time in the 90's with the plan of toppling one against the other..yousef was caught by in 98 and is serving life in new york, mohammed was 02 or 03'. they went to bin laden cause they knew he was a fanatic with a lot of money. obl had bombed some embassys by then. look up 'bojinka plot', reason you cant bring fluids

  • @gasper47 Osama used to work for the CIA. There's photos of zbigniew brzezinski meeting osama bin laden. google: zbigniew brzezinski osama bin laden. You've got some research to do my friend..

  • @jeroliver i know about those contradictions, when armenia went to war with azerbaijan over azer massacres of armenians, the azeris had help from iran, israel and america, not to mention russian, afghans and chechens.israel helped iran during the iran/iraq war...but none of these nations is suicidal enough to attack america, theyre not stupid. and for years america saw them as a corrupt blessing against islamism.bin laden is, nobody says anything about afghanistan, the world was behind the US then

  • @gasper47 I'll have to look into that. Google USS liberty cover up. This was a US / Israeli false flag operation in which they tried to sink an American ship and blame it on the Egyptians so America could invade the middle east during the 1967 war. This is the worse planned and most obvious false flag operation. Everyone on board knows it was planned. It was completely white washed. I recommend watching a video called Terrorstorm. It's all about false flag operations.

  • @jeroliver thats nothing, during the iran/iraq war, despite repeated warnings to the US not to park their destroyer over civilian air routes, despite having a civilian marker on the plane, a trigger happy officer shoots it down. kills over 200 iranians (all this while the US is openly supporting iraq). i dont think that officer even got a sentence...any other nation. especially the US would call that an act of war and retaliate...did iran? no.

  • I say Dion should be like him, this bold and not afraid of saying what's in his mind. Dion is very polite. I think this is how great politicians should actually handle the reporters.

  • and fuck harper too.

  • Harper the Canadian George Bush, he is a Fuck Head undemocratic Republican and not liked by the majority of Canadians.

  • well there's your proof!

  • an Im not jus talking tru da side of my mout eder

  • What a foreign retard

  • Chretien was a great pm. he kept us out of iraq and under him Canada saw economic growth. i would vote for him again any day.

  • As goofy as he sounds. He was explaining why Canada would not be joining the U.S in Iraq. He did Canada a huge fucking favour.

  • STILL NO PROOPH

  • this makes me laugh

  • Je m,ennuie de Toi Ti-jean osti que u étais bon

  • I miss Jean :(

  • English isn't his first language you retards. He was born and raised in Quebec speaking French, so cut him some slack about his English.

I'd like to see any of you do as well in French as he does in English.

  • @FuckYouLetMeLogIn

Dude, you can't deny that this video is friggin hilarious.

  • He talks like this so people can understand him. lol

its like talking to a 4 year old, you need to repeat yourself over and over again until they understand.

  • People are dumb if they cant understand why he is saying it like that. Chretien told Bush to show him proof, evidence, of Iraqs WMDs. Bush ended up showing him 20 year old surveillance. Then the press (remember everyone was going along with Bush and administraiton because you were either eating what they were feeding you or you were a terrorist) were getting on him why he wasnt supporting Bush. Thus he says i saw no proof, a proof is a proof because its proven. he saw no proof. and guess what...

  • fuck bush. chretien did what was right. I dont care what any dumb Americans or Canadians don't understand about it. Go watch some more fox you brainwashed puppets.

  • @cancanbiker Stephen Harper makes Chretien look like Trudeau

  • @nakabar

    Harper.... "drug money funds terrorism"

then do something about it other than launder the profits. Tough on crime conservatives my ass....

  • Are you fucking brain dead?

    No, seriously........

    Are you?

  • Uhh, I think you're missing the point a little here. No-one is judging him by the decision he made in that regard; what's hilarious is his utter failure at establishing a simple concept in basic English.

"A proof is a proof because it is proven?" Would I also say "A cow is a cow because it's a cow?" Perhaps, for example, "Proof is proof because it's verified by a multitude of reliable sources" would have made sense. But no, it's because a proof is just a proof.

  • Chretiens? More like cretin!

  • lol he says it 8 times!

  • Oh JC, how you entertain us so.

Moral of this video = donate to the heart and stroke foundation

  • ROFL!!! He must've hired Bush's speech writer for that one!

  • fuck quebec

montreal should separate and join the rest of canada, where as quebec should just drift off into the atlantic

  • It wouldn't matter. We would all be controlled by the same scum bag elite that have always divided us and used that to make money. All while we fight each other and the laugh all the way to the bank.

  • Supernewf1, don't be defeatist, the fact that most political videos has people like us commenting shows the numbers are growing fast for the people who have woken up. Keep spreading the word, that's how people like me find out and start revolutions.

  • Let me put my previous comment in a different light. What I said was not meant to be defeatist but only to point out that no matter what our boundaries are, or political affiliations, we are being ruled by the same group of people that have a different politcal and social philosophy. If anything we need to come together all across Canada, including Quebec, if we truly want to save Canada.

  • @SuperNewf1

Save Canada from what? To stop living in stereotypes we herited from past generations?!?

It is a country that has become too big. It is in need for a change that only each provinces should rule on it's own. Stop thinking at the federal gov't as God to tell you how to manage your budget and what to do regarding each province's different needs! Stop begging, decide for yourself.

  • Chretien and Martin were amazing PMs!

  • @MVX12

A bunch of corrupt, wrondoing fools. yeah amazing Liberal Prime Ministers!

  • this is why chretien should still be PM

  • We should let Quebec seperate, then invade them the next day.

  • we wouldn't have to; they'd be bankrupt... and we could buy them. on second thought, maybe we could trade it for hawaii or something

  • Hahahah great idea! thumbs up haha

  • Yup... or, we could agree to the separation but redraw borders to 'protect first nations land rights.' Basically, we would make them a floating island in the middle of Canada and then boycott them! Of course, we would have all our stuff withdrawn including all military units and equipment. We would also have to close all branches of our banks. For Quebec t'would be an EPIC FAIL!

  • a Canada without Québec will be a new legal institution. but it's the only thing who will be different for you. the rest is canadian internal policy, but I doubt they will continue to support bilingualism as they do now.

for business, yeah, sure. the goal for us is not to close the border and became some kind of north-coreen communist, the goal is to have a normal country, and that's include trade and good relationship with neighbors.

  • you know what would be beautiful? two country instead of one.

  • Are you from Quebec?

  • yes, I'm from Québec, the occupied country inside Canada. Canada, in fact, is a very beautiful country, it's just not mine.

  • If Quebec wants to seperate then I say power to you guys. It doesn't bother me in the least.

What I don't support is the Bloc Quebecois. They're the idiots that proposed that Quebec should seperate but still own Canada's mail service and use the same currency.

  • thank you. and you'll see, Canada will be more united and functionnal wihtout us.

I never ear that about the same mail service, if it's true, it is, indeed, absurd. for the currency, it's another story. but a thing is sure : we can use any currency we want, and that's include the canadian one. it's probably the safest option for us, and the more stable for both Québec and Canada economy.

  • I hear what you're saying. The currency thing does start to make a bit of sense.

I don't know what will happen to Canada without Quebec. But if Quebec feels the need to seperate, I hope that we can still trade and do business together.

  • countries**

  • MKy Fav Speech Of All Time!!!

  • what a fun man, he always was good with words....

  • With his facial paralysis, Jean Chretien was probably the only PM who COULDN'T talk out both sides of his mouth ;-)

Seriously, this is probably Chretien's greatest moment, when he kept Canada from joining the invasion of Iraq. He was responding to a reporter's question about how much proof he needed about the existence of Iraqi WMDs, and his bafflegab is now a classic (right up there with Rumsfeld's "knowns that are unknowns...").

  • terrorists aren't after Canadians, there a reason why they skipped us and headed south of the border

  • I don't know about that... Also, not all terrorists are "Muslim." It was SIKH terrorists from Vancouver who blew up Air India Flight 182 in 1985 and murdered all 329 people on board, and "unintentionally" killed 2 baggage handlers at Narita Airport in Japan (and for WHAT?). Coincidentally, the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held at Vancouver where some people still think the terrorists were heros. There is no reason to think some asshole wouldn't try to blow up a SkyTrain or a BC Ferry.

  • A classic Chretien moment that sums up what it is to be a politician. Double talk on his double talk. Hilarious!

  • Harper made our $13 BILLION per year surplus disappear into military spending. For what? To protect our lives? Most Canadians die of heart disease, not terrorist attacks. The only Candians who die of terrorist attacks are in Afghanistan.

Don't fear terrorists. If you insist on fearing death, then fear bad health. If you fear terrorists, I feel sorry for you - and luckily for you, you can get a psychiatrist paid by our health care system to help you deal with your fears.

  • We have good armed forces so we don't HAVE to fear terrorism.

  • Under Chretien's administration, the Canadian armed forces hit the lowest point they'd ever been in fifty years.

  • That was something to be proud of. After all, with the integrated world economy there was practically no threat.

  • I'm not referring to the size of our army. I'm refering to the practice of buying and using dangerously obsolete equiptment for military purposes. Under his administration, Canadians were using planes built during the korean war.

  • That's true.

  • Chretien a good comedian

  • Thank GOD these idiots aren't still our Gov't.. Chretien was a terrible leader. Stephen Harper is smart, doesn't make us look foolish on a world stage.. and they're accountable! Canada is great again!!

  • yeah.... untill we find out about harpers hidden agenda

  • Yeah, Harper gets mocked because he's not some child-brained socialist. LOL that's Canadians for ya!

  • child-brained socialist? hmmm . . . someone here listens to his parents too often. Go earn your own living and then form your own opinion.

  • LOL typical socialist. Almost EVERY one seems to assume I have some sort of Right-Wing upbringing, which just goes to show how many people out there base their political ideology on their desire to "rebel". And fail in doing so, I might add.

It's ironic because, what if I were to tell you my parents are child-brained socialists?

  • Nothing worse than someone who uses political ideology to jam everyone in the entire world into one of three categories. It's hilarious really... "Typical socialist" ...Pray tell, what did this person say to make you believe they have socialist views? If anyone is child brained, it is you, judgemental young boy.

  • The current Conservative government's cuts to the arts and their failure to address the public infrastructure deficit in the country deserves a lot of criticism. The only thing their tax cuts are going to do is make it harder for future governments to deal with these issues. It's populist politics and in the long run, we'll be worse off. "Child brained socialist" is an insult and rather lowbrow.

  • and by the way, the Conservative government of the 80's racked up record deficits, whereas it's the Chretien gov't of the 90's who made us the first G8 country to eliminate deficits (ahead of the US, who's now racking up their own record deficits), and now Harper has virtually eliminated our huge surpluses that the Liberals were using to pay down our debt. Harper did this in order to win votes with his populist politics by cutting GST, even though all right wing economists were against it.

  • It doesn't matter whose prime minister, Prime minister have very little power.

True power lies in the parlement.

In the 1990's and early 2000's the conservative controlled parliament and there was a surlpuss.

In the late 2000's the NDP and the Liberal controlled Parliament and there was a massive deficit.

For there to be a surpluss in the buget there must be a massive spending cuts Which are blocked in parlement by the Liberals and the NDP.

  • @simontimon2 What are you talking about? It was the exact reverse...

Late 1990's - early 2000's was when the Liberals were pulling off majorities and minorities. Since 2006 the conservatives have had more power, and effectively crushed our surplus

  • The liberals where planning to spend far more then the conservative.

So if the liberal where in power then there would be an even larger deficit.

  • @macdaddylorenzo

The "Conservative" government in the 80's did not rack up huge debts, they just increased slightly the ones they inherited by the spender himself Trudeau. They got us into surplus in the 90's by copying the Reform Manifesto which was to introduce massive spending cuts, which is why our health and education systems are all Shite nowadays. Its funny you criticize harper for cutting GST cause the "right wing" econs are against it while criticizing conservative governments

  • @macdaddylorenzo You seem to think Canadian financial history starts in 1984. Mulroney and the PC's inherited a MASSIVE deficit and debt from Trudeau and Turner. Mulroney's GST was a necessary thing to do to get Canada's finances under control. Had Jean Chretien actually kept his promise and eliminated the GST he would have never balanced those budgets. Plus he only did that by ruining health care, education and leaving our armed forces woefully under equiped, you wanna stand by that? ok...

  • @macdaddylorenzo

Actually the current deficit was created by stimulus spending. The irony no-one seems to get is that Harper wanted a hands-off approach to the economy, but the opposition parties demanded stimulus. Harper relented, and now the opposition parties are crying foul because of the deficit they insisted on having.

  • @squid1230 Yes, i agree completly, like i just posted, the caolition was formed for the reason they did not think harper would spend enough.

  • @macdaddylorenzo a few things there. The chretien government was basically forced into drastically cutting spend for many reasons, the main one was the levels of debt were approaching IMF warning levels. You obviously havent seen anything to do with the debt levels if you are suggesting harper has put us back into debt levels likey ou are suggesting. Also Harper was also forced into spending money, the liberals/ndp demanded it, he said no and they tried to form a coalition for that exact reason.

  • @astreocclu Yeah...and you neglect that the fact that the tax cuts that Harper introduced now make up a sizeable portion of our federal deficit. I believe the GST cuts by themselves are worth about $10 billlion. I haven't even checked on the pricing for the signicant corporate tax cuts..and any other tax cuts to individuals..as well as other corporate tax incentives that are indirect.... This is why I highly doubt that Harper will get us back into balance at all during his current term...

  • @astreocclu Do you know that the World Bank also doubts Harper's plan for getting us back to break even? They state that he is not assessing risks properly in his plan. And why is it taking so long to get back to break even...when he started with a $13 billion surplus? He is raising UI premiums....he is pushing HST...an incredibly regressive tax for individuals....with incredible benefits to businesses and corporations...and a huge increase in taxes for the hourly work force.

  • And don't try to brainwash me with the trickly down theory regarding the rich and corporations. I run my business as a corporation...and you gotta me kiiding me if anyone is giving away their extra profit from the HST. Corporate profit goes to shareholders...not to workers... And the rich don't give away their extra money.. Most businesses are actually created by the middle and working classes....NOT by the rich....and this is what creates REAL jobs.

  • @astreocclu The problem with COnservatives in both the US and Canada is that they are NOT actually fiscal Conservatiives..and the Social Conservatiive part is often just a charade to get votes... Conservatives in both the US and Canada have a terrible record in regard to fiscal balance. Why do Conservatives play on religion and make it all about abortion and gays...and refuse to do anything about poverty..which is the real message from Christianity???

  • @paulfornasier If Canada is doing so well under Harper, why are we slated to have at least 5 or 7 years of deficits?? It took the Liberals 2 years to eliminate a large deficit when they put their minds to it. If the Conservatives really believed in their policies, why didn't they fight an election over it. To blame the other parties for THEIR spending is lame. THe Conservatives formed the govt..and the policies they choose are their own choice...no matter what the other parties desire..

  • @paulfornasier Chetien promised to eliminate the GST, and then did nothing of the kind. He also did riduclous cuts to our military and is credited with the decline in health care treatment in our country. The liberals reduced the deficit fast, to fast in my opinion (though i think i might of perfered that to cambpells policy of not reducing it that decade"

  • @fuckyoufuckindouche I'm not questioning that Mulroney's spending may have been less...and Mulroney also had higher interest rates on the debt to deal with..as Trudeau also had in the 80's. The problem though, with Conservative policies is the sole focus on tax cuts...while then introducing broad sales taxes such as the GST and HST...which end up being huge taxes for the middle class...while corporations and the rich get tax breaks..and we often end up in deficit due to the tax cuts....

  • @fuckyoufuckindouche In the end, I"m all for paying off the defict..and taking a bit of pain during the process...in regard to taxes or govt programs. The interest payments on the debt are huge. I can't quote what they are....but I think back in the Mulroney days...they were close to $30 - 40 billion per year. That was a huge amount of money for Canada to pay back then... The Conservatives will likely have added 50% to our national debt by the time they propose to have us back to surplus....

  • @paulfornasier Its on record that the mulroney governments proposed spending was less then other governments spending

  • @paulfornasier Unfortunately they are not nearly as fiscally conservative as they should be. As for poverty thing, the idea is that you shouldnt force people (which is essentialy what your doing) to give their money to the poor.

  • @fuckyoufuckindouche I"m not forcing anyone....I"m just pointing out the hypocrisy of how the conservative element vies for the block christian vote.

  • @paulfornasier Well its not hypocrisy, cause the idea is that people should be free to choose whether they give their money to charity or not, not forced. Which works in case you wonderiing, christians are some of the highest contributers to charity, voluntarily.

  • @fuckyoufuckindouche The hypocrisy is that the conservative element who really don't care at all about social issues......choose the gay and abortion issue as a way of getting the christian block vote...without having to compromise the corporate / rich sector agenda. To see it as anything other than a political game is plain wrong. And truth is that these days, you are not likely to be able to fulfill that christian agenda anyway...but the votes will keep coming...

  • @fuckyoufuckindouche Hey...i'm not criticizing christians here...I'm criticizing the right wing Conservative agenda and politcal games they use to deceive people..

  • Nice to hear that Conservative talk radio is taking a major dive in the US...now that a more truthful rating system has been instituted. They cheated their way into getting more prominent media slots and ratings in the past. Nice to see reality hit in the US for once......that the mainstream is really not that interested in that garbage....

  • best statement by a world leader ever! The first time I heard this I was laughing so hard I was crying

  • That never gets old!

  • truth

  • But you must have the proof for the truth :P
