I've seen Mark last Saturday in the German tour of Cats...... he was absolutely amazing........ a great dancer and actor for the role of Mr. Mistoffelees! =)
Sloppy turns... I have a video of an Asian Misto from Broadway in 1991 from a Variety show for charity done at the Winter Garden and he was AMAZING! Now they all do these sloppy-ass fouettes that look like they're not even properly on relevee half the time.
Oh how I love The Conjuring Turn! If only Jacob Brent had done it in the Movie Version everything would have been perfect (not that it wasn't already!) I watched this musical when I was in the 4th grade, now I'm 4 years out of high school and I still can't get enough of it!!
Definately one of the better performances I've seen. Tugger is awesome and can really belt it! And when Misto zapped him in the butt, I almost choked I laughed so hard. It was just perfect!
So true! I fell over laughing when Dr Diavolo got the Tugger on his behind. And did anyone else what Bombalurina did to him just after? XD I only know a few words of Dutch, but I love this!!
Was this done on a standard stage? Because one the best things about the British show is that it's nearly in the round - the audience sits on three sides, and you're so close to the action.
The show was on the "default" classical theatre stage.
I remember that the Czech non-replica production took place on the round stage. People in the front rows were basically sitting directly on the stage. There was a lot of cats-audience interaction.
I've noticed that the characters are often renamed in non-English productions. Does anyone know why, exactly? Is it perhaps based on foreign translations of T.S. Eliot's poems?
Partialy because some English names are hard to pronounce when English isn't your first language. Also because they have to translate an entire play into another language, and changing the names makes the lines fit better.
Of course it's Bomba who puts out the smoking Tugger XD

Okay, that makes sense. I haven't encountered translations of shows before where the names were changed, so I was curious. Thanks for answering :)

do any productions (opther then the U.S. Tour) still do the key change after Old D's reveal?

This rocks! :D I don't care if it's on german, I'm adding it as favourite!
Who is playing Jemima? She is sooo small, like she was played by a child! :)
TheWanderingchild 2 years ago 5
Well, in fact it is in Dutch ;-)
Jemima is played by (my most favourite) Veerle Casteleyn and yeah - she's really small. But I really don't mind that :)
derhorn 2 years ago
@derhorn she is about 5'
