  • must have been a quiet news day

  • maybe she'll learn to stfu.

  • I used to grunt when I played tennis... then I took a tennis ball to the face.

  • I don't go out of my way to watch sport. However, I used to be able to tolerate an hour or two of a tennis before all this grunting started. It's annoying, unnecessary and just plain cheating. Tennis used to be thought of as an upper class sport. Now I liken it to eating competitions and pig racing.

  • @BabyFacedAsians - the greatest tennis players of history didn't have this habit, and these young assholes are just making a "thing" out of it. I know it's not just talent but image as well, but this is too far. Fucking annoying.

  • Good! The grunting, moaning and shouting so many tennis players do is not necessary and fucking annoying. It's a distraction technique, nothing more. Now if only they banned players who did this at higher levels...

  • she should be . shit's unecessary

  • if they can ban a 9 year old why not ban azarenka and she is a bloddy pro, so whats good for one person should apply to another no matter who they are. A mild grunt sometimes is ok but not like ear deafing

  • Meanwhile in the Azarenka household

  • Im not joking that girl goes to my high school in the uk at Carr Hill High School

  • Nobody HAVE to grunt, so get over it.. it's annoying as fuck

  • The older players also had less help from the old racquets and strings so they had to swing harder and faster. I agree ban the grunters and Tennis will be a spectators sport without the need to wear ear plugs.

  • That's a fucking disgrace! I grunt when I play and no opponent has ever complained. And I have ADHD, which is a worse condition that this girl. Frankly, if it was that much of an issue other measures could have been taken to deal with the problem!

  • then shut the girl up seriously shes not even hitting that hard and she has the need

  • she goes to my school, and she's in my yearrrr

  • whats wrong with grunting?

  • lol. next time there's a female tennis match on espn turn up the volume and close your eyes. You'll get a boner.

  • what a nightmare child !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It sounds so wrong :P

  • Hazza5642 i know right same.

    !!!!!

  • She goes to my school!!

  • Attention disorder? Grunts like a stuck pig real loud so people can hear her? Am I seeing a pattern here??

  • stupid laws that held people backwards..

  • In self defense practice(Karate), we are encouraged by our master to shout with every attack as it gives you strength and mana. The grunt gives you focus and empowerment. Hopefully this girl is still pursuing her passion for tennis.

  • Grunt means passion....she has passion for the game!

  • I admire the approach to conservatism is behaviour on court, too many stars are abusing their position as role models. BUT having said that, they should research the KIAI shout in eastern martial arts, it is definitely a legitimate source of power to physical activity/movements. The kiai power may not be local to humans, maybe sinister maybe not, worth investigating as dark spiritual energy, but it exists none the less. Soldiers charging into battle scream as they strike. No big deal.

  • That is fucking hilarious.

  • Funny how people get on the backs of girl tennis players. Grunting was actually started by MEN like Jimmy Connors. I have tennis matches on tape with Connors and McEnroe, both grunting like crazy and very loud with the effort. And a lot of current men players do as well. No one ever criticizes men for doing it. Tennis is 100% activity and effort, not like team sport, and its got faster and more physically demanding. But men did it first !

  • bitches needa learn theu\ir place.

  • grunting is not for showing off nor is is an ego thing , not with everyone anyway

it helps when maximum effort is exerted and decreases intracranial blood pressure , it also helps delay fatigue

  • Let her play, wtf? Who cares if she makes sounds...

  • Grunts are way out of control. Stop it before it gets even more out of hand.

But a 9 year old? Maybe we could train her and not banish her? WOW.

  • Why would grunts be allowed and the audience has to be quiet as a mouse because they could disturb the two delicate geniuses playing? I would rather play with the audience cheering then with the idiot on the other side screaming like an idiot

  • i see many people going to hell xD same as me... She should stay in the damm kitchen and shut up! xD

  • good...

  • Oh shut up kid... Can't stand all that screaming bullshit. If this helps players like Azarenka, Sharapova and so forth, how come a player like Steffi Graf who was silent ALL the time won more grand slams than the last 6 number ones together?!?! Plain & simple: Monica Seles started it, everybody thought it was an expression of athleticism or power, but in fact it's just rude behaviour. These girls sound like a cheap prostitutes, nothing else.

  • @Keytaster: Actually, it was man who started it, Jimmy Connors in the 70's. As for Stefii Graf, she got lucky because Monica Seles owned her before the stabbing. Monica would have ruled for years without that happening.

  • @ipolson If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a merry Christmas

  • @Keytaster : True, but as I say, Steffi got lucky !

  • @ipolson yeah, that's why she was the number one for 377 weeks (more than SEVEN years), won 22 (!) Grand Slams, total of 107 singles tour titles and eleven doubles tour titles, as well as the olympic gold medal - because she was "lucky"... err... are you for real?

  • @Keytaster :Youre missing the point, that was mainly AFTER Seles was stabbed. Of course Graf could beat everyone else once Seles was not there, a lot of people think that many of those Slams would have been won by Seles if not stabbed. She had only been around a couple of years, already won a load of slams up to the incident. I didnt say Graf was lucky to win the slams. I meant she was lucky that Seles was out of the way. Seles was beating her nearly every time they met up until the stabbing.

  • @Keytaster Also, the game is totally different from when Graff played. It is far more faster, aggressive and more physically demanding than in those days.

  • bitch should be in the kitchen anyway

  • go make your noise in the kitchen, bitch

  • 0:12 "...kicked off the court. *DONG*"

  • That isn't grunting, thats screaming.

    Bitch deserves to be banned

  • she actually can hit it pretty well although she has the completely wrong form...

  • Bastards. It's not like its her fault??

  • orgi

  • nothing wrong with grunting it a sign of effort if you loose focus over someone else grunting its your own fault

  • @GossipBoy102 Really?? Effort? LOL. I've seen players like Sharapova, Azarenka, Williams sisters essentially walking to the net to put an easy ball away and then screaming in full throttle voice. There is almost no reason for some of the players to grunt/scream/yell. Federer plays some ridiculous defense, and puts out a full effort, while not making a single sound. The only sound is the squeaking from his shoes demonstrating his good movement. As far as this vid is concerned, horrible.

  • FUCK ALL MARIA HATERS :@ YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT TENNIS

  • Her accent is different than my American one. LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • ban sharapova and few more

  • but she plays very good

  • yet they let a baboon like serena williams play?

  • Ban all screaming cunts!!!

  • "I say Franklin, that girl is making a lot of noise whenever she hits that ball. "

"Yes I suppose she does.... look at that child behind her. She looks like a mute."

"My god your right, quick get the van!"

  • I'm happy this is happening... we need to stop this grunting thing. It is something that can be easily stopped.

  • i dont think this is right everyone's got their own way of playing and if your not able to concentrate on which ever the circumstances are then stop playing. dont blame it on the other person.

  • GOOD

STFU AND THEN YOU CAN PLAY.

  • This would never happen in America. (I mean someone being banned for grunting.)

  • you dont need to fucking grunt that loud not even half that either it pisses me off when people exagerate their grunting

  • great now my flatmates think im watching porn...

  • Maybe after what happened at the us open 2011 with serena things will be changing. her match at the us open in 2004 got them to start the challenge system. I think her screaming come on will be looked at and compared to grunting; thus, putting an end to any noise.

  • Banned for giving too many pedos a boner more like.

  • AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Yeah!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! what? I'm playing tennis :)

  • It's scientifically proven that grunting affects the other players timing. These grunting pigs need to shut the hell up or stop playing the sport. Tennis has become a sport of who can grunt louder to throw off your opponent. The sport is dumb enough without the grunting.

  • Good, it's a completely made up noise and all these juniors do is try and copy their god Screamapova.

  • @mohawk393939

this was before sharapova even held a tennis racquet

  • Don't profession tennis players make a shit load of noise?

  • @dalejrfan800 do roger federer makes noise?

  • @dalejrfan800 Not really. There are a few women that make a lot of noise. They are the ones that get the whole debate of banning grunting.

  • DING! @ 0:13

  • most players you can tell it's natural. It's scientifically proven that most grunting isn't intentional. but this kid is putting it on.

  • Too much watching Sharapova...

  • They say that she plays to help with her ADHD... if that's the case, she can still play with friends or family. She doesn't HAVE to play professionally to help her focus/ADHD. I'm sure it's disappointing to her and her family, but she doesn't have to quit playing all together.

  • I wish they banned them for this in the pros too.

  • @zzyzybynsky Right? Have you heard Azarenkas? Lmao achuwoowoowooowoooo

  • @meg1x1 Well your best mate in this over 3 year old vid, sounds like she's getting one heck of a screw.

  • WHAT A WHORE

  • If she looked like Sharapova there wouldnt be a problem

  • ANYONE HAS ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY ABOUT HER CAN SAY IT TWO ME, SHE'S ONE OF MY BEST MATES, so if you have nothing nice to sa GO AWAY.

  • @meg1x1 I'll say it to you: she and every other woman who has to scream after every shot should have to play with a muzzle.

  • Maria Sharapova in the making!!

  • She's ugly, so who cares?

  • Seems like a stupid thing to get banned over.

Tell the crowd to wear earplugs if it horrifies them so.

  • @Dizzabre

The reason why it should be banned is not for the crowd, but it throws off the concentration of the opponent too

  • When tennis instructors ask players to grunt, it causes the player to inadvertently exhale while hitting the ball. Exhaling relaxes the player and makes the swing more natural. That's why.

  • sounds like she has a luweylongdong up her ass, grunting doesnt help u play better and to solve ur problem, just stop grunting.

  • Making noises doing anything just makes you that much stronger. Try lifting weights without making noise and with making noise. You can lift more weight if you forcefully exhale while you do it. I'm not sure why but it works.

  • she's one of my best friends, and if anyone has anythin else to say about er you can message me. leave your nasty comments to yourself.

  • her having add is so relevant to the story. .....

  • @citygirl5705 Racist pig.

  • I think women grunting is sexy. Unless it's the Williams apes.

  • @citygirl5705 go shave your mustache you hairy bitch...

  • if only theyd do this with nadal and sharapova

  • Letting out a grunt allows yo to put more force behind your hit.

  • my ears...

  • maybe she will STFU now

  • She goes to my school but it makes me laugh every time!

  • Unless you're hitting massive 100+ mph forehands or 130+mph serves, there is really no reason to be grunting...

  • @explodingpimp unless you're playing, you really shouldn't be commenting, dumbass

  • She goes to my school - Stop picking on her :P

  • @Chelseaforever10 not to doubt you but from my experience in martial arts was that the combination of breathing and an attack makes it a steady hard attack( like when a sniper would breath out before shooting to steady the aim)

  • thats not fair, she should be aloud too compete

  • YOU ARE PERMABAN FOR SPAMMING REASONS!!

  • If only they would ban the pros for doing this totally unnecessary grunting. It serves absolutely no purpose but to distract the opponent.

  • You know what Maria Sharapova gets for grunting too loud. That's right. Millions of dollars.

  • Omg i know that girl , she goes to my school !!!!!

  • @Samik337 lol i play in northern suburbs with her

  • So the kids get banned because they think it is ok as the pros do it? That is wrong. They need to outlaw grunting on the pros so they don't try to be like their idols.

  • i grunt a lot but im not banned from my tennis club

  • LOL SHE'S BRITISH

    She goes to my school...

  • Well, shup up or do karate, little Lauren.

  • LOL AUSTRALIANS

  • this is probably the foremost reason why tennis is the worst sport in the world

  • Its funny cause she goes to my school! :D

  • The kid is clearly mimicing Sharapova she can shut up and play tennis. I agree with the grunting ban.

  • fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fapfpafp apfpa fpapfaap uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Girl should be locked up and have lemons pelted at her

  • Azarenka -_____-

  • Filthy asian.

  • fucking gag her

  • @GregoryCulverSmith lol "fucking gag her" that's mean but funny as hell!!

  • How can she get banned when Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova freaking don't. Lol :L

  • try tellin azarenka and sharapova

  • Lods of people grunt, if they are trying there best, if they are doing javilen or shot or summat they grunt because there trying to hard.

  • grunting has nothing to do with breathing....your vocal cords should not be working during a proper breath....it should be banned...funny thing is sharapova doesn't grunt at all during practice ...she is using it as a distraction to her opponent and annoyance to everyone watching. ban it please or remove their vocal cords.

  • @cherae16 obviously you know nothing of martial arts as you are taught in every martial art, that involves striking ie. extreme physical exertion, that you must shout when you strike and this is called a kiai and strengthens your strikes . chinese kempo has been around for over 4000 yrs ... its not about breathing dipshit and your arguing with 4000 yrs of practical knowledge way to go genius i bow to your infallible wisdom

  • @xlawsjustice .....and tennis is a martial art since when...next thing you know we'll be hearing your homosexual grunting on the PGA tour....and why would you choose to personally attack me for a comment. that had nothing to do with you. get a life

  • @cherae16 , the point being that in sport the same rules apply for when you want to generate a large force. although i'm sorry that i attacked your person i just couldn't help myself when i see stupid comments i reply as though i am talking to an arrogant imbecile which by your reply it seems i was correct (specially the homosexual comment way to go bigot) . P.S. golf isn't about huge force its about smooth movements and technique when you try too hard to hit a golf ball you'll fuck it up

  • I first thought it was Azarenka...

  • screw grunting and deal with it! >n<

  • I get that they need to breath. Everyone does. But do you see soccer players screaming every time they kick the ball? No. The grunting, like someone said, is more of an annoying habit and not necessary for breathing. How about they try breathing hard like normal people.

  • Grunting is about breathing and giving oxygen to the muscles? You guys are idiots. It's about dominating and intimidating your opponent. I speak on behalf of actual tennis players as a player on the Junior Tour.

  • @SirColonelSwag No grunting is cheating the girl is LOUD and there is no reason for her to grunt like that. She is clearly copying Sharapova's grunt it is obvious.

  • Great job! I'm glad they're trying to discourage it at a young age. Don't want her turning into another sharapova....

Yes I know the argument, its for breathing, etc etc etc. But when shes grunting at 80 to 100 decibels, it just plain overkill.

  • Comment removed

  • it seems like 95% of the commenters here dont know anything about tennis... the grunts are their breathing- it gives their muscles oxygen and gives them more power. try playing tennis without breathing

  • @yaytennis Breathing is required for grunts. Grunts are not required for breathing as you suppose. Its nothing more than an annoying habit that one indulges in and makes excuse for it at the expense of all present including their opponent.

  • its not natural at all. its pointless.

  • Comment removed

  • she obviously wasn't coached for that 10 second interview

  • I kicked her out of my basement for the exact same reason....

  • @MuhammadSweepmez That is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar.

  • @MuhammadSweepmez Hahahahahahahha Legend!

  • I don't see a problem with this child's grunting, considering that some of the professionals grunt much louder than that.

  • @schanderson

The error and annoyances of the pro tennis player doesn't give license to others to be annoying. Obviously it is a problem as people blog about it, make news about it, talk about and complain about it.

  • She grunts loud so what?!! In fact this makes the entire tennis tournament for engaging!!! How dare you not recognizing the true piece of art?!!!!

  • I don't get grunting. How does making sex noises help you in tennis?

  • @chelseaforever10 It helps you when you breathe, but I find it really unnecessary cause its freaking annoying as hell! Look at Maria Sharapova, good tennis player, loudest grunts you will ever hear LOL

  • @chelseaforever10 same reasone you yell when punching particurly hard. it just helps, kind of unleashe the beast, give's you an extra umph. and it helps you breath

  • @chelseaforever10 Totally agree... Its just a form of intimidating and being impolite... I play tennis in Switzerland, and not a single soul I know, grunts as if their having their arses fucked... Its just do or die if you grunt like that, theirs no feel or elegance to it anymore, and that is what Tennis is all about, feeling the ball and being elegant in the process... And at this age its no more than sick... Federer never grunts, and look where hes landed...

  • @chelseaforever10 why do you think people who do martial arts scream when they throw a punch or a kick? Because they feel as if grunting or screaming would add extra power to your shots

  • @YugiohDuelz actually I do martial arts and the reason for shouting is to scare your opponent not to add power.

  • @YugiohDuelz actually was proven on sports science that grunting does help strength exertion. thumbs up

  • @chelseaforever10 Its actually increases power.

  • @dencod18 Yeah, very useful for a kid like her... She doesn't even have a good technique! (Anyway... grunts are horrible, increasing or not increasing power!)

  • Comment removed

  • @trat445 Well it does, it has been proven by scientist that it increase up to 10% more power.

  • @chelseaforever10 I mean, for some players, like me, it's just a natural exhale sort of thing that happens when you hit the ball - but that's a very subtle, acceptable sort of grunt . Releasing energy, that sort of shit. I can't stand people that exaggerate it like this though, they're making tennis look bad.

  • @chelseaforever10 helps produce more power but what it also does is messes up your opponents timing because it makes it harder for them to judge the speed of the ball because your grunt covers the noise that the ball makes upon hitting the racquet and can also be distracting to them. grunting is part of almost every sports that require to be physically fit.

  • @chelseaforever10 Grunting actually helps you or encourages you to hit the ball harder. I don't grunt because I don't need to. I did hit with this guy and tried grunting for the heck of it. I did put more oomph on my ground strokes. He actually told me to keep grunting because I hit the ball harder. I did it a couple of times for that session and that's it. I keep my mouth shut.

  • 2 words: gaffer tape.

  • Thanks for blowing my speakers...

  • De Brito! Azarenka! Sharapova! ....

  • future sharapova

  • Sounds like a porno

  • Sorry people grunting in tennis does not help, its annoying and the reason why womans tennis will never live up to mens

  • imagine her and sharapova rallying...

  • fkn ban the lot of them.

  • It's about time they banned this type of mental retardation in tennis! Clearly these so called grunters are off balance in the head! Try porno films if grunting is your thing!

  • Look at what you have done Sharapova, shame on you!

  • CONTROL YOUR BREATHING!

  • I never knew they did this 'grunting' thing because I never watched tennis.....now I have even more reason to never watch tennis.

  • Of course it's natural for her, she is imitating the famous tennis players who do it every time...
