Yes, normal for big city competitions. But the words "guaranteed he'll get a rise"...not the lyrics I would choose for a group this age, or any age for that matter. The dancing is good, typical stuff, hold the legs up high and pump your chest. If you get a cute song, you CAN edit the music.

They're talented, but this is not appropriate.
A lot of the moves were very inappropriate for girls that age. What is wrong with people, I have seen way too many videos showing little girls doing moves that are disturbing to see little girls do. This is why we have so many under age pregnancies.

Question for all... As someone who edits dance videos, I would be curious as to whether you liked the way this dance was edited. Were all the quick cuts and camera angles distracting, or did it add to the value of the dance. I'd like to know how the dancers/choreographers would like their videos edited.
Personally I like to see an overall view of everyone dancing at all times. I don't like when they zoom in and out to different people, because you lose the entire picture. I remember for one of my competition videos my parents had ordered a while ago, the camera man went angle "happy" while the editing people put all these stupid special effects in,and it really ruined. In the end all we want to see is our dance, not the video cutting in and out with stars and spirals.
I sort of agree. I think that for competitions, especially this one where these dances go on television, the edits and closeups make it more interesting to watch for people who don't necessarily know much about dancing or that just aren't familiar with the dance. For studio videos (like from recital and stuff) I would definitely suggest keeping the editing, camera angles and closeups to a minimum. I like to be able to see people's faces so stay as close as you can without cutting too much out.

extremelyyyy ahmazingg dance for kids that young. the girl in the beginning was totally favoriteted tho..but shes cute and good so thats alright.

the song is originally called "Band New Girl" but unfortunately the song is not available on iTunes and i don't know where the teacher found it...

Question for all... As someone who edits dance videos, I would be curious as to whether you liked the way this dance was edited. Were all the quick cuts and camera angles distracting, or did it add to the value of the dance. I'd like to know how the dancers/choreographers would like their videos edited.

Personally I like to see an overall view of everyone dancing at all times. I don't like when they zoom in and out to different people, because you lose the entire picture. I remember for one of my competition videos my parents had ordered a while ago, the camera man went angle "happy" while the editing people put all these stupid special effects in,and it really ruined. In the end all we want to see is our dance, not the video cutting in and out with stars and spirals.

I sort of agree. I think that for competitions, especially this one where these dances go on television, the edits and closeups make it more interesting to watch for people who don't necessarily know much about dancing or that just aren't familiar with the dance. For studio videos (like from recital and stuff) I would definitely suggest keeping the editing, camera angles and closeups to a minimum. I like to be able to see people's faces so stay as close as you can without cutting too much out.
