The Red Special has religious meaning to me really. It´s so powerfull, and yet so gentile, as if it were the voice of God himself. Every other guitar in the world is just an instrument. The Red Special is part of Nature.

The shape only, has the same meaning to a lot of people as the cross has for christians. I gives inspiration, strength and profound lessons of life.

@appie888 Bringing back an old topic, it's pretty easy to spot if this is the original one or not: The headstock on the origonal is completely blank, while this one has a logo. Also, it doesn't have the bolt on the back that the original does.

@ACTractionLTD Wish I knew how to build guitars. I mean can you imagine how special a guitar would be to you if you built it yourself? But where did he learn to build guitars though. It sounds like a good quality to me.

The real one has a false panel on the back which is a different colour to the rest where he removed something years ago i dont know what was removed as im not technical in that all i know is that theres a lighter piece of wood on the back of the guitar on the original that is noticable.

recently released, there has been a number of different coloured 'red specials'. I've seen pictures of yellow, black, purple, and even a bass 'red special'. The original guitar brian & his dad made, has faded in colour through the years making it look yellow-orange

The difference in sound is more to do with the amps he uses now. He uses dave petersen moddified amps which only have one channel. They have a bit more gain than a standard Vox ac30. Also they have a custom built choke, which makes it sound alot more compressed compared to his older sound

He doesnt use a hughes and kettner, His effects all come from a custom built Mike Hill rig (tc electronics gforce for the chorus spread) but for this I would imagine it is just one dave petersen amp, straight through with a fryer touring treble booster
