Is this running Startup Repair from the Windows boot menu or from the Installation DVD? If it's the former it sounds like the boot partition has become corrupt. If so watch my Repairing Corrupt Boot Files video here, it might help you.

System restore, system repair blah blah blah... In my experience as a windows user since Windows 95, no "solution" or "troubleshooter" that Microsoft provides has ever worked. The only real solution is to reinstall everything.. which I need to do on average 2-3 times a year. (Just today my Windows "broke" after installing service pack 1...yay, gonna be a fun Friday evening..)
@sonicex1318 It sounds like the repair partition on your hard disk is corrupt. You can also access Startup Repair by booting from your Win7 installation DVD. Select "Repair your computer" instead of "Install"
@Stevo4g If Startup Repair can't fix your computer all isn't lost. You can reinstall Windows over the top of your existing installation (do not format the disk) and the installer will copy your existing installation, and crucially your files, to a folder called Windows.old
@icegirl8787 Microsoft have released a new tool you can boot from to clean an infected PC of viruses and malware. It's still in beta but you can download it from their connect beta site
i've got the same problem... but unfortunately none of these options helped fixing the problem. i'm afraid there's a virus on the computer. is there any possibility of not losing the files on the computer?
@DoctorWhoCenter2010 Can you also remove the hard disk (if it's a laptop there should just be a couple of screws and a penel covering it on the underside) and stick it in a caddy? Then you can plug it into another PC and back up your data.
@DoctorWhoCenter2010 It sounds like you need a reinstall, but you can do this with Windows 7 telling it NOT to format the disc and it will copy your Windows folder and files to a Windows.old folder where you can recover them. This will work though only if there is space on the disc for another full installation.

I'm really really nervous right now, I don't want to loose important files such as Sony Vegas on my computer...and I can't use my computer until I manage to find out how to fix this Start Up Repair loop...I have no Instillation CD since my Windows 7 HP laptop was preloaded with Windows 7...and Im scared about loosing my files, music, video and laptop in general!
pause at 1:10 and you see how it give like 5 options for me it only give 1 and the first one please help me and i cant even login to my computer there is no wat and i have to keep restarting it can someone please reply fast ?
@elishabey Hi, if startup repair is taking that long it won't be able to repair your computer. It should only take about 2 minutes as all it does is rebuild the boot files. I'd suggest either rebuild the boot files manually (I have a video here showing you how to do it) or sadly you'll need to reformat and reinstall Windows 7
@thelongclimb I finished rebuilding the boot files manually according to your video. This is what it said...
Successfully scanned Windows installations.
Total identified Windows installations: 0
The operation completed successfully.
Does this mean I successfully rebuilded the boot files? Why does it say total identified windows installations 0? Do I go ahead and restart the computer?
@elishabey Sadly it sounds like something's gone very wrong with your Windows installation and you'll have to reinstall it from the DVD. If you've not backed up your files, try booting first from a Linux DVD and backing them up before reinstalling Windows 7 as the reinstall could wipe them.
My computer starts up normally until it gets to the "starting windows" part. There should be the windows logo, but its not there. Then it says "loading files" And goes back to the Start up repair loop...Im really frustrated and worried because my laptop is very very important to me, and I don't want to loose it! Can you please please help me.. :(
My computer has been in the starup repair mode for at least 5 hours. I have been researching different sites to see if this is normal and some people have reported it taking up to 12 hours before it finished and others have said their computer has been running in startup repair mode for 2 days and still hasn't finished. I am losing my patience and I am ready to just shut the computer down and try using the startup repair disk I made from another windows 7 computer.
It sounds like the Startup Repair files on the hard disk are corrupt. You can also get to the "Repair your computer" options by booting from your Windows 7 install DVD. Good luck
@GameAdictable It sounds like the folder on your hard disk containing the Startup repair files is corrupt. Have you tried running Startup repair from the installer DVD instead?
@thelongclimb im really sorry but i dont have it D: is there someway that i can burn a startup repair from another computer or to download one from another computer? if no possible ways ill ust have to get my laptop to the repairman :(
@GameAdictable You can create a System Repair Disc from any other copy of Windows 7. Just to to Backup and Restore from the Start Menu or Control Panel and you'll see the option listed in the left hand blue panel. NOTE if you are trying to repair a 32 or 64-bit version of Windows 7, the Startup Repaiur Disc MUST be created on the same bit version, i.e. 32-bit to repair 32-bit and 64-bit to repair 64-bit.
