This song was recorded quite late in his life, I think he was already ill at the time, and you can hear that in his voice. Still wonderful though

First off you wouldnt be ashamed to be me... obviously.
Secondly, the Irish culture is almost, if not already, dead. Nobody makes this music anymore and from the hit-rate it seems not many are listening to it either.
I just watched a video of riverdance from eurovision '94 and got literal shivers down my back. But the problem is that all that was irish is gone, we're just another pop culture now. Take a stroll round dublin and that'll be obvious.

Well i was born in 1955 in a place called Londonderry.I went then to watch Derry City F.C.I'm coming home again in July where i will be watching Derry City again.What's all the fuss about.

I'm sitting at the 'puter tipping a few and listening to this and you know there is only one other singer I know of who can sing with a "tear drop" in their voice and that was Otis Redding. Luke about makes me weep when he sings "I learned about life and I found myself a wife" the reflection in his voice when he says "myself a wife". That tear drop in his voice. Makes me miss home horribly, I really need to stop listening but I can't
