In 1979 Dr. Don's engineer had a traveling disco show. He brought Dr. Don to Ukiah to host a show. I was a young dj who got to meet the legend. Dr. Don spent almost an hour talking with me. What an experience!
Yep, remember it well. The sturgeon was parked on the NW corner where there used to be a 76 gas station. It was the Gemco parking lot back then. It's Target now.
Don was the best ever. The best jock that ever lived, a super guy, a great dad, and a wonderful friend. I miss him every day.
I was a Delta College student at the time, and remember the HUGE crowd at the Gemco (now Target) lot a block away. It's partly because of D.D.R. that I became a DJ. We miss ya, Dr. Don!
KFRC-AM 610 probably was the last dominant AM music station in northern California. KFRC was THE radio station to listen to in the early 1980s. I believe that Dr. Don Rose also announced on KBHK-TV 44 in San Francisco in the same era.
Whatever other Dr. Don videos you can find would be cool if you could upload them. He was a true gem. I would have gone to his funeral if I could have made it.
He was a great jock, I used to commute up 101 listening to him around 1984, not forgetting the traffic reports from Jane Dornacker
