I should probably share this with you guys...just for a chuckle. I was attending a lecture when the Mac being used to present it crashed. Seeing what the Chinese call "a golden opportunity for a thousand years", I, a dedicated PC user, yelled (rather sarcastically and with a big smile on, since I was a lone PC person in a sea of Mac users) "That never happens with Macs!", to which the lecturer, a diehard Mac fan, shouted in reply "Sacrilege!!!" (Needless to say, everyone burst out laughing.) :D
I've laughed at diehard Mac fans for years, but they used to at least have a bit of a point when it came to relative OS stability, etc. These days, with Windows 7, it's no contest. Windows 7 is simply the best and most stable OS ever. Apple is a player, so that might change at some point in the future...but like I said...right now, it's no contest.
I hate both Apple and Microsoft. I am not a fanboy of anyone. They are both stupid myopic companies that don't respect your intelligence. I prefer struggling with stupid difficulties of Linux, but that's just me. Put up with crap if you have to, but don't be fanboys please.
Apple products are overpriced, and the iphone 4 i pod touch ipad 2 or whatever just have cheap little gimmicks added on which have the fanboys breaking the bank to have the new fad.

I half agree with you. I agree on the PC being very good overall, but you cannot deny that some Apple products are highly innovative in how they let you do tasks. Well, yeah... according to Symantec annual reports, Apple operating systems are extremely unsecure with a patch/fix rate for exploits 11 times longer than Microsoft. Windows, for many years, has been the leader in OS security. The reason it's "unsecure"? Well the globe uses it so why script attacks for MacOS when no one uses it? Globally, Linux has more online users than Mac.

Stating facts is one thing my friend but the whole fact of the matter is the Mac OS has never and will never state an error clearly. It is always some dumb visual representation or a "please try again" error. While windows is 0x000032 or something along those lines when you get a BSOD. Its at least researchable. It's the Mac user mentality that you never get viruses that is one big pile of bull. Mac isn't mainstream thus no need for anyone to try and mess up your pretty little white systems

The idea I was trying to convey is that a wide variety of products will "just work" if you take the time to learn how to use them and this is not something unique to Apple no matter how hard they try to say it is.

My Windows XP machine "Just Works" and if that program doesn't work well I'll just go download it's competitor's program.... thus 99 percent of high end progams work right away with most hardware... that whole DirectX software layer really helps.
It's a really good OS... so good in fact that the users forced MS hand into keeping it alive longer than they wanted... I couldn't imagine having to get a new OS every year or so... but I do have Vista and I really like it

98,ME,2000,XP... technicly if you think only end users like us then it's 3 in 3 years... of course it's 5 version of OS X in 6 years... If I'm not mistaken OS X was released to the regular jokers around 2001ish. That's almost one a year as for Microsoft I think the dry spell of 5 years was pretty long and people were complaining when they released Vista that is was to soon.
puma (10.1) was a free upgrade for cheetah (10.0) users. so that is two versions rolled into one. and we won't get a new one til at least 2009, that means 5 versions in 8 years. that's anew one every 1.6 years-still far better than 4 in 3 years for ms. which of those was not for end user because i own them all? longhorn (vista) was supposed to be 2003 but problems, problems, problems!
Good presentation, but you may have been marked down for being a minute over! Apple users are horrendously smug...Only a Mac user can suggest that getting "Please try again later" error message is better than geting a blue screen with a bunch of technical data (stack pointers, etc). Those useless, overpriced chattles of the smug are the only electrical devices I know of whose users DON'T blame THEM for any failure. Ever made an excuse for a toaster not working? Didn't think so.

It's the Mac user mentality that you never get viruses that is one big pile of bull. Mac isn't mainstream thus no need for anyone to try and mess up your pretty little white systems

at least we have an os that is far more stable, thus not getting the kernel panic nearly as often, so, you think linux is susceptible to viruses too? like google's servers, which run on linux would be a huge target, yet they don't get attacked. why is that?

Oh and if you havent been paying attention apple threw up a white paper on installing AV on their systems and immediately took it off due to the confusion about their statements that they dont get viruses. . . .oh and i got pictures of macs with a virus on it if you want proof that they do numb.

Apple's way of advertising is just plain wrong, showing problems of the others is a bad idea.
It's like me saying that I'm smart and people shoudn't listen to you because you're a retard. Clearly mac's dont have enough advantages to be as profitable as it's competitors.
That kind of advertisment is so irrespectful and it's clearly not working very well.
I feel bad for Apple's hate ad's, not for the products.

I suppose I should have qualified what I was referring to as I agree with your view of Apple. The idea I was trying to convey is that a wide variety of products will "just work" if you take the time to learn how to use them and this is not something unique to Apple no matter how hard they try to say it is.

Thank god someone took the time to break down Apple... I can't stand Apple... Not because of their OS, or any of that, but simply because of how arrogant their company is. They act like Microsoft is inferior, when really, almost all problems in Vista can be solved VERY easily. I've been using Vista for a year now-- I haven't gotten one virus, I haven't gotten one crash-- everything is fine!If you do happen to have a problem, GOOGLE IT!You'll find the solution right away.So fuck Apple, lol...

was it expensive? yes....but in the long run u get a product that works that doesnt try to "nickel & dime" u.... then u save money in the long run... i AM a convert!

My Windows XP machine "Just Works" and if that program doesn't work well I'll just go download it's competitor's program.... thus 99 percent of high end progams work right away with most hardware... that whole DirectX software layer really helps.

It's a really good OS... so good in fact that the users forced MS hand into keeping it alive longer than they wanted... I couldn't imagine having to get a new OS every year or so... but I do have Vista and I really like it

98,ME,2000,XP... technicly if you think only end users like us then it's 3 in 3 years... of course it's 5 version of OS X in 6 years... If I'm not mistaken OS X was released to the regular jokers around 2001ish. That's almost one a year as for Microsoft I think the dry spell of 5 years was pretty long and people were complaining when they released Vista that is was to soon.

puma (10.1) was a free upgrade for cheetah (10.0) users. so that is two versions rolled into one. and we won't get a new one til at least 2009, that means 5 versions in 8 years. that's anew one every 1.6 years-still far better than 4 in 3 years for ms. which of those was not for end user because i own them all? longhorn (vista) was supposed to be 2003 but problems, problems, problems!

Good presentation, but you may have been marked down for being a minute over! Apple users are horrendously smug...Only a Mac user can suggest that getting "Please try again later" error message is better than geting a blue screen with a bunch of technical data (stack pointers, etc). Those useless, overpriced chattles of the smug are the only electrical devices I know of whose users DON'T blame THEM for any failure. Ever made an excuse for a toaster not working? Didn't think so.

I'm an Apple customer. Not a fan, member of the cult or supergeek who finds RAM sexually stimulating. You make some very good points about Apple, their arrogance and stuff that only works when it feels like it (from the company that makes you feel really dumb when you don't know how to use it!). Macs own, yes they have problems, but so do windows. I understand why you were pissed off, but considering theres a huge group of windows people who try to virtually 'pants' mac users, they're/we're very defensive. I thought it was hilarious though. (there is of course, an implied son there. )
