You know pro reviewers like these blasted on Suikoden 2 when It first came out as the same-ole... I remember gamespot gave It a low score. Now It sells for hundreds sealed on ebay even opened cost more thana full game!, & is seen as 1 of the ebst classics EVEN amongst the golden age of 90's rpgs! lol. I mean these new reviewers actually praise the facebook like avatar game thats world of warcraft which is same old crap as Everquest was no lasting value MMOs= if ur friends quit so does YOUR game

Kaim was the reason I couldnt finish the game I just hated him so freaking much it made my head hurt. I had to force myself to get past just the first disc..if they made the main character more unlikeable I probably would have never played another game in my life, while I think the game felt better than FF 13 I finished that because the characters we well actually likable. Just my two cents.

The short stories were very well done. I would buy a volume of these on a separate disc. I do wish those stories would have been acknowledged by the characters during the game in some way.

The written stories are a bit of a bonus to me because I really don't like most videogame voice acting, and this game being no exception, for the most part.

So finally having a segment where *I* can put the inflection on the voice is nice.

But I can totally agree with it being a misuse of the medium. I don't go to a movie to just see words on the screen.

@ uiejji eh i dont see that, FF7 was and still the pinnacle of the franchise. FF13 was a feeble attempt atbest to try and return to that kind of story telling, that really makes the series shine, but its still a long shot. LO in terms of quality dumps on the current FF series in general. they need to get the creator to come back or work on developing another square franchise and start phasing FF out. the name is started to get meaningless

to be honest this is STILL better than FF13. FF13 was my first FF game that i played seriously after playing VI all the way through at its initial release on the SNES. I AM beyond disappointed with where this series has gone. Lost odessey was very good and fulfilling. it was exactly what most long time fans of the series were looking for when they pick up a box marked final fantasy. its just missing the vitory music and summons. great game though.

Hey. Try going back a bit and picking up 7 and 10 -- they're in my opinion the best FF titles of their respective consoles.

FF took a change in direction after Enix acquired Square. I didn't particularly enjoy X-2 or 12 (just my opinion... I do own both games), but I feel with 13 Square Enix is starting to approach their former glory with FF again.

when you pick up the yellow band (or whatever it's called) that has anti-paralysis, grind until Kaim and Seth have both learnt it and then equip it to Jansen when you go into battle. Then just cast Flare at the Bogimoray and let Kaim and Seth waste the bugs.

@PandaMcSpazz some of the boss fights in the game were really tough, esp. because the underlings respawn. there's not too much strategy behind the bogimoray fight, but as the 1up crew said, it's like solving a puzzle. once you figured it out, it's easy.

This game is taking over final fantasy definitely. Final fantasy is now made for children...Id say this is the natural progression of ff7/8 (which were not made for children) where barret swore and cid smoked etc. its funny coz squareenix are desperate to make a ff7 again but at the same time make a smooth children friendly game which ff7/8 are not. an they haven't done a great job of it. look at what they came out with. Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant. Which aren't terrible games, they're just not a touch on Lost Odyssy. I feel LO to be what Final Fantasy XII should have been. It's actually one of the best games I've EVER played. I'm a Final Fantasy fanatic, and this tops some of them.

You guys were very right in everything, except for the Thousand Years of Dreams. (Also, The loading time was a little hard to cope with, but you got used to it. And battles aren't always assaulting you, so its not that bad.) The Thousand Years of Dreams- not only were they OPTIONAL, meaning THEY COULD BE SKIPPED, they were beautifully written and translated, and brought emotion. They took a chance using just words, and I think the dreams was one of the best parts of this game.

What I really love in the game is the subtle things. Like in the towns there are the flapping posters that you can get stuff from. And Jensen I think sheds a humorous light that makes the game. W/o it, it would be very dull and serious. The only time I wanted to break the game was the Worm boss. Holy fuck when the second one came I was about to kill myself! But overall its a great game.
