It isn't about effective DPS presented in this vid that's fun...it's ur special tac with a shotgun+infiltrator gameplay that is :) very interesting lol loving ur "who needs squadmate" series...very catchy eh? :D
At some point between 3:51 and then, his shields regenerated the bare minimum amount (your shields/barrier can be low enough that the game shows your health bar instead of a tiny sliver of blue. This applies to enemies, as well).
When your shields "break", Shepard is typically invincible for 1-2 seconds, hence him not taking any more damage from the consecutive attacks.
This video was made before the Firepower Pack DLC was released. But I do prefer Carnifex, I find it easier to aim with and it has higher fire rate so missing a shot is less costly.
@cruz1ale Aye, thanks man. I've tried it myself and it's more reliable, I hadn't been using pistols much, up until I've watched this video. BTW you're great player, I've found a lot of useful tactics in your Mass Effect videos.
@cruz1ale easier to aim? not for single shots. thats what the laser pointer is for on the m-5! but it is quite preferable. I only use the m-5 bcs it looks so badass and kicks like a horse! but the carnifex certainly is better.
this class has to be the best. Tactical cloak and move away to different cover, M98 Widow, then repeat. It's great espicaly during all five waves of object rho.
i cannot get enough of this video. i hate infiltrator because in my opinion it is useless, but this may make me reconsider, and choose the shotgun and forget about the sniper rifle all together.
This was an interesting video (I really need to get ME2 before ME3 comes up). I love Tool, by the way and this song makes this video oddly appropriate. I guess it's because the level looks like something out of a Tool video
Or at least, picking up the skill but not th e weapon was my experience with the Claymore shotgun. Could be specific to the shotgun, haven't tried the others yet.
In the disabled collector ship mission, after the first major section, Shepherd will bend to pick up a weapon from a pile on the ground. For weapon types that your class already has a skill to use, you get to pick up a special weapon of that type available only here. For weapon types that your class does NOT have a skill to use, you can choose to gain the skill (but not the special weapon). So my adept got the shotgun skill here, but not the special Claymore gun.
@halfasianguru Once you get to a certain point in the story you get the option of training your character in the use of another weapon: Assault Rifle, Sniper or Shotgun. If the character already has one of those weapons, you can aquire a very powerful unique weapon instead of training to use a different weapon. The weapons you can get are the Revenant Machine gun (Soldier only), the Claymore Heavy Shotgun (Soldier/Vanguard only) or the Widow Anti Material Rifle (Soldier/Infiltrator only). Enjoy
Well, I'm confused. I thought the infiltrator only got a pistol/submachine gun and a sniper rifle? Does ME2 have the same system as ME1 then? As in you can use all weapons but you just can't TRAIN with some of them depending on class?
@DGneoseeker1 I haven't done Infiltrator to that point yet, but there is a point on a certain mission where you get to choose one from a set of special weapons. Choosing one that your class does not ordinarily have the skill for gives you the skill for that weapon only. Being intentionally vague of course to avoid spoiler as much as possible. So you still have to be trained, different than ME1 there, but you can pick up one extra training in-game besides class, if you choose that weapon.
@dunfalach Oh yeah, I know the part you're talking about. I just had no idea you COULD pick one of those weapons if you didn't usually have the class skill for that weapon type. I was a soldier in my first playthrough so the limitation wasn't there to see.
@DGneoseeker1 To correct my statement slighty, if your class has the skill, you can pick up the special weapon. If your class does not have the skill, you can pick up the skill (but not the special weapon).
@DGneoseeker1 Yeah, I hadn't realized the difference till my Adept tried it. Although I didn't regret picking up the shotgun skill. Abandoned Mine has never been so easy (on normal difficulty) as standing at the top of the right-hand ramp with a shotgun-equipped adept spamming Heavy Singularity at the base of the ramp and blowing the legs off any husk that squeaks past it with the shotgun. Watching 4 or 5 husks sequentially run into the singularity and swirl around then explode was hilarious!
@DGneoseeker1 (ran out of room on my first reply) For example, my Engineer chose a sniper rifle. The weapons you choose from can only be acquired on that mission, only one can be chosen, and it gives you the relevant skill if your class does not already possess it. Soldiers of course get no new skill, but they do get a new weapon out of it.
@isnith I believe you can choose the assault rifle as an engineer, yes. It's been a little while since my engineer was on that mission, but to the best of my recollection, you could choose any of the weapons regardless of your class. My adept should be there pretty soon, so we shall see.
Would be more impressive or have a point if you did it in an area that posed some type of difficulty, like Archangel's recruitment area with the doors that need to be closed.
whats the name of the song :D? thanks in advance , very entertaining video inspired me to play like that with my infiltrator even if im playing w/ squadmates , Still it gave new life to ME2 for me :)
very entertaining to watch closecombat infiltrator play from a more experienced player. its sad that the hitbox appeals to be so wierd for headshots sometimes so u have to doublecheck your positioning all the time. anyways.. really enjoyed the clip and 2 thumbs up for picking a tool song as soundtrack 46:2 getting closer :D
I'm in sort of in a bad spot at this part. I played the game the first time and got the shotgun upgrade instead of widow.I later regretted it But after awhile I thought "oh well I'll play again on insanity and unlock it then" only to figure out you can't get it on your second playthrough?! Very dissapointing. This video has helped a little bit. But how do you get rid of your teamates ? I'm on console so I'm hoping it's not a mod. I get shot like 50 times when I try to do what you do.
Oh lawd. Someone finally used Tool in a video. Reflection of all songs, too. Rather mellow and tribal for Commander Shepard's favorite massacre on the Citadel, but classy.
AI is basically broken when you are invisible and have no squad mates. The enemies just stand there. That is hardly challenging. Compare their behavior of standing there with Fallout 3. In Fallout 3 if the enemies don't know where you are, they look around for you and keep moving.
Playing with squad mates is hardly challenging if you ask me. The fact that the enemies just stand still when you're cloaked is a slim help, as I got to experience when trying to pull off what I did in the video for lots of times before I got it the way I wanted.
@cruz1ale the way i see it, if they just stand still, and you are in a pickle. you can sprint into a nice area for cover. its a great way to get out of trouble, heal, and back into the fire.
@krisnye That makes no sense. If the squadmates were there, they would be shooting at the enemies, using powers, forcing Scions into cooldown, pulling Harbinger away from his minions etc. It would be EASIER to sneak up and blast them, not harder. The only difficulty would be focusing through the noise of the firefight, but the core gameplay above wouldn't change.
@OptiMystic8 You should really try it out before you say that. I have played a CQC infiltrator with shotgun. It is MUCH easier without your squad mates. The easiest way to pull of a headshot is if the enemy is standing perfectly still which is what ALL the enemies do when you're by yourself and invisible. AI is effectively broken.
Getting headshots with squadmates is hard, yes. That's not what squadmates are for, however. Believe me, it wasn't easy making this video, and reaching similar efficiency with squadmates would be a cake walk. You should really try it out.
@cruz1ale Not trying to take away from the skill you demonstrated in this video. I'm just saying that:
1. The AI should not stand still.
2. Many parts are easier with this technique WITHOUT team mates.
I will concede that this particular part may not be easier, but I found myself purposely killing off my teammates with CQC Infiltrator to make myself more efficient. It was at that point that I realized that the enemy AI is broken when the enemies have no visible targets.
Thank you my friend...you've just sort of helped me with something XD
The thing was I liked to be up close and personal, the problem was the way I did that on dragon age was indeed the Rouge class, the stealth factor and everything was just amazing.
But I thought that infiltrators had to be snipers. thanks dude ^_^ this was purely awesome
i love mass effect 2 but i don't play it that much anymore because all the DLC i got with it for free and any DLC i download wont work without being connected to Xbox live. all because of the model of my console. oh well hopefully it will work when i get the new Xbox model S 250GB.

I gotta try this! It's refreshing to see someone using the cloak for more than just a damage buff. I think Bioware intended the cloak to be used like this; to escape dangerous situations, and to set up sneak attacks.

@cruz1ale Thanks man. Didn't know that. I kept seeing it done on videos, and when I thought to try it in game, saw it disabled, and went for something else. I'll ignore the disabled sign tonight and give it a shot.
Nicely done! You're not making it any easier for me to pick a class to play :P. Sorry to seem like a generic stupid YouTube comment person, but what is the song?

@cruz1ale Thanks man. Didn't know that. I kept seeing it done on videos, and when I thought to try it in game, saw it disabled, and went for something else. I'll ignore the disabled sign tonight and give it a shot.

Great job, mate. I would have loved to see the praetorian taken down with the shotgun... :)

Nicely done! You're not making it any easier for me to pick a class to play :P. Sorry to seem like a generic stupid YouTube comment person, but what is the song?
Great video, and keep it up! :)
