thanks for sharing. chasing an antenna warning on my 29lx. says my swr is a little over 2. checked the antenna for opens, and seems ok. mount is on the left side hood hindge. good enough ground?. But my multimeter check showed no real resistance. I dont get it... any other ideas would help. Wonder if my 29lx needs to be send out and check and tuned? Perhaps I should check it against an antenna mount on the roof and see if I pull the same swr reading?

Howzit, I watched your video on you tube on Cobra newest CB radio and thought it was solid. You recommended to upgrade the standard MIC that came with the unit. WHAT MIC DO YOU RECOMMEND? What CB do you prefer from COBRA when its the 29 LX LCD CB Radio 50th Anniversary Vs. 148 GTL AM/Single Sideband CB Radio. Boy how I wish COBRA just added in the SSB into 29 LX LCD CB 50th Anniversary Radio. Thats whats making it hard to make a choice. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE TWO RADIOS?

@shawnwade351 Yes, it can. This is not a bad radio pretty much standard 29. Tuned and aligned one up a while back. No cutting or gutting got up to a nice clean 7 swinging 35.

@jnorris1864 mine did the same thing. All I did was tighten the coax cable and problem solved.

SIZE wise... does it have the same dimentions on the chassis as a Cobra 148GTL... ive gone through 2 radios currently using a galaxy 696, and they all have fit in the bracket... is it the same width as the 148?

Hey man, love the vid. I actually bought the 29lxle because of this vid. I know little to nothing about CB's. I've used them to hunt and that's about it. My question is: what kind of antenna would you recommend? I have a Jeep so I don't need anything pretty. I want a good antenna, but I don't want to pay more than the CB itself. Please let me know exactly what to buy. I've been told not to use certain magnet bases with certain antenna. So all the info you have would be key.

Got mine peaked and tuned , works and looks great. The squelch/vol were sticking together but just played with it a little and no more sticking. If the sun is shining directly on it it is hard to see the screen but honestly how often does that happen.

The display is nice looking but can not be seen in the bright sunlight. The knobs are not as good as the orginal 29 knobs. Mine stick on the squelch and volume and make it a pain to adjust. The radio does work fairly well. I had mine peaked and tuned and had the frequencys alighned for better reception, They was prety far off. I would not recomend this item. I would recomend the older style such as a ltd 29 with bluetooth.

This is one of the hottest Cobra's to hit the market in a long time. The features are the best along with keeping the board about the same as the previous ones. Lets face it these radios will be done up to perform even better that factory. That attracts buyers. The display colors and the ability to dim makes it great for the vehicle. Now Cobra should match up displays with case colors. If your favorite color is blue have a blue covers. Red display, red covers as an option. Nice radio and review.

Oh, one thing that kind of annoyed me was that the front of the CB case is no longer rectangular (although I do like the styling of it). It's rounded on the bottom where the big dial is.  I had to carve out a spot for that on the faceplate in my center console.

I just sent back my Cobra 29 WX NW BT because of extremely poor weather reception. I have other radios that work perfectly with the same antennas. I also have this new 50th anniversary edition and the weather is working very good on it (much better than my Cobra 29 WX NW BT). Maybe yours just needs an adjustment, and hopefully they'll be able to fix my Cobra 29 WX NW BT.
