i think it's so cute how damon was so careful, so gentle, even though we all know it was katherine he thought it was elena and he was all nice and gentle, i lvoe him so much! i ship delena all the way!!
i kind of wish the delena kiss in 3x10 was more like this - it's just sooo romantic how he slowly gets closer and closer and closer, waiting to see if she'll stop him midway, and then when she doesnt, he gingerly kisses her yet still doesn't start kissing her deeply until she starts kissing him back.....ugh, the way this was played out was pure genuis.. im just so in love with this scene, i could marry it lol..!!
I remember this moment.. this clip was the moment that TVD became IT for me... this was the moment that i realized this show...is THE SHOW.... when this kiss happened and then the thing with john and then the logo poppin up ending the episode..i was SPEECHLESS..all the episodes before i was just feeling it out and then this happened and i was hooked. Never looked back since.
Tbh, I don't like this kiss. Not as a DE fan anyway. Yes, it's very steamy, but it's not even Damon and Elena. I don't just mean that in a technical sense, even the motions of the kiss are totally DK. The way Kat kisses Damon back - you can just tell it's her. It's lustful and on Kat's part, wanton. It's not the least bit romantic.

YES Damon thinks it is Elena but looking at Katherine it wasn't lustful i think she really did miss Damon her reactions and the way she looks at him i think she was really happy to kiss Damon again and not just for sexual reasons....(2.01 yea) but not here.
@Ambereigh Don't get me wrong, it's a really well orchestrated kiss. I'm just saying, as a Damon/Elena fan, it doesn't do much for me because it isn't them, nor is the nature of the kiss like them. I much prefer the DE kiss from 3x10. As for Katherine, I'm unconvinced she loved Damon ever. I saw this as her just going along with Damon thinking she was Elena for her own amusement. That isn't to say she didn't want to kiss him though because I mean, look at him! I'm sure she's still attracted.

Actually, I think the 3x10 kiss was perfect because it was completely mutual. Before a skeptic mind could chalk the last kiss up to Elena taking pity on Damon or saying goodbyes, but now, judging on how she reciprocated the kiss and had nothing hanging over her head to make her feel obligated, there's no question anymore. I love that it was spontaneously initiated, yet sweet. He didn't push for more than she could give. Damon holding back shows how much he has come to respect Elena.
i hate how she makes damon think that it is elena damon loves elena and it is very cruel to do that to him but that is how katherine is cruel and a horrible person
Look at how Katherine kisses Damon ! She is the one who goes in for the second kiss... she loves stefan more...whatever !! she missed her sweet innocent Damon Salvatore and how she really feels says it all in this kiss !! i hope they have another one like this throughout the series where D knows it's her and she's not playin games !!
I was disappointed with the 3x10, but I don't think it had to do with the scene or kiss itself. I assume that if I had not been teased repeatedly by the writers with several "false" kisses between Damon and Elena (including this one) then that kiss in 3x10 would have been way more exciting and satisfying than it actually was for me. However (as I have said before) I think THE kiss will be the one Elena initiates with Damon eventually....(and not a pity "kiss-cause-you're-dying kiss") lol.

@ambiman101 I don't think the lack of passion was elena i think that was the 1st time she dropped everything..the whole episode was amazing it was like with Stefan gone she didn"t have to feel guilty for NOT hating Damon &she could be sweet, nice& caring w/him. It was a breathe of fresh air.This kiss it was like Damon had been holding it n &he just needed to get it out. idk.. something about the DE kiss that's missing something..the lookn in the eyes things was marvelous though !
@Ambereigh I think she approaches Damon like a sister, always trying to guide him to do the right thing, coddling him when he's in a mood. She wants to tame him, and is excited by his softness. Damon knows that the way to Elena's heart is through virtue and her intolerance for his flaws forces him to be on his best behaviour, which results in an atypical Damon kiss! But she doesn't kiss Damon the way she did Stefan for the first time either, so she is still holding back. Why, I'm not sure yet!

@Ambereigh I agree with what u say about it showing in their eyes at the end, for me that was the best part of the kiss. Personally, I think she stopped mothering him when she lost Stefan, but I don't believe she can handle Damon yet with all his complications. At this stage, I wouldn't expect Elena to throw herself at Damon, she didn't do that with Stefan first time either. Next week will probably be MORE interesting because we'll get to see how they deal with this new lease emotion!

I know most of us where mad it was Katherine...but watching it now... that was their first kiss in 145 years and it was PERFECT !!! After all he did to get her Damon deserved that kiss with Katherine !! it was so sweet and perfect and knowing it's Kat and watching her experessions....she was happy kissing him...like i haven't seen him and forever and now i get to kiss him "my sweet innocent Damon."
