GREAT WORK. Awesome job, Red. You're an inspiration. Truly blessed and gifted! However, I'm amazed that the techniques you are using are almost exactly the same that I used back in High School, and that was in 1974! Hasn't the digital age caught up to much of the delicate and tedious tasks of inking?
@CummingsKevinD Thanks for the kind words! You know... some would say that digital inking is fine, and I have seen some digital inks that were OK, but there is something so organic about using traditional tools which you cant get with digital. It has a certain look and feel. It does come down to preference, and although I use many digital techniques in my work, the finish is always done tradtionally. I also like to have a physical piece of original art which is a one of a kind.
hey man, really impressive. I was just wondering as a fellow comic artist/writer seeking publication-- are you fully supporting yourself now on your published work or do you also have a day job?
i don't have.... i don't have any patience for detail............... give me your patience and i will use it for the power of good. i promise that the patience will not be used for evil, for evil requires too much patience for one man to bare, and i have tried.
no seriously, how do you have that much patience!?!?!
Sup yo! This' RIPPER from deviantart. I like this video and I watch it often. I'm still cheezed though that I only have the first issue of Gemini. I'm still searchin' for the rest...
Cool, I have also inked to Yann Tiersen. I think I have met you a few times at shows, probably through Ed and some digital webbing people. Anyway, cool video. :)
your doing the old fashioned way. Type comic book drawing challenge soon to change to comic book drawing contest on face bookand see the easy results I have instead of using these hard slow steps. Its also a challenge to you.
Cool, Is he Puerto Rican or Russian?, I don't know he looks like both, LOLL, Oh well, I like his work though and in the end, that's all that really matters, right?
Seeing this video again reminds me that I should do another one,but with a real camera so you guys can actually see the art!

He uses a brush mostly. What kind of pen do you use?
Seacow69 2 years ago
i use regular ink pen.dam that would seem hard with a brush
idntexst 2 years ago
For the last couple of years I have been using copic fine-liners, and also brush with ink...Very thin brushes.
There is no right or wrong at the end of the day. it is whatever works best.
Good luck!
