Dude you Blew my mind today! This is my all time fav and you are the funkiest kid I've seen in a long time! Follow your dreams if you plan to take this anywhere. I was 9 when this track came out.
2:26 is just plain AWESOME...great skills, but I like that you're digging it as you play it, keep it up!..and to the fella that said they don't write bass lines today as they did decades ago..true :(
2:26 is just plain AWESOME...great skills, but I like that you're digging it as you play it, keep it up!..and to the fella that said they don't write bass lines today as they did decades ago..true :(
im 37 and i was very young but i remeber this song being out..i got into bass in 1985 and here it is 2010 and im still playing...it would be interesting to hear it done in stereo with more bass but i understand its youtube... You have a very crisp style a no nonsense way about it..the thing with a song like this is hitting the notes are easy but there is a technique to it all and that part cant be difficult..im going to follow your playing, very nice to hear you.
Bro I gotta tell you, I was way so impressed. I called a couple of my buds over to check you out man! Real nice talent Good work. Teach me! It's great.
@tolinfitz aw high 5 to mom - shes got bomb diggity taste in music....haha...you have to visit NZ one day with yur bass and jamm it out..theyd love you here !!!......hope someone finds you playing on here and throws you into their band..you needa take that talent and share it world wide..:-)
@transgirlnz ...i still watch this every week...it makes me happy to see someone rock out music like u !!!!..........u should be utube award winner for best clip !!!!!
@transgirlnz for reals?!?! i dont know why people always say that!! "how do you get to hear music like this from the 80s" music is music, im only 13 and i listen to jazz and oldschool. its like asking my 80 year old grandma, how did you get to hear about justin bieber??" smh.....
I know you already covered this..and the first one didn't have the emotion that this one has. I mean that internal feeling you get when you play this and it is expressed through the instrument. you know what i'm saying, i don't have to tell you. this one is better.
Mate this is so good!! I can sort of play it ill have a look at this to learn it ur good! How long have you been playing for? Have you looked into the full length version of the song stomp by brothers johnson? Thats god a wicked slap solo in it i want to see if you can do that... unless you havnt already done it!
Like what your playing keep it up get a band going and bring back the funk! the music these days needs it!
Definitely this is the best bass cover of Forget me nots, your playing is perfect and the sound is funking funky. Keep funkin around brother. Waiting some new Jamiroquai stuff from you. For example Mr. Moon
from all of the guys if seen covering this song i must say you got the best feeling and sound, then again it think you are a reeeel disco bassist ain't ya haha!! greets
Hey Tolinfitz, check out funkstar 650 on this tune. I think you will dig it. I'm going to check out your myspace and find out where you are giggin in the OC or LA area. You are very talented!
I'm impressed with a young guy playing this old urban classic! I can tell you have grown on this version. You are more in the pocket and feeling the groove. Remember the "One" and make it dance. By the way, I'm old school and have met Patrice as well as hung out with Verdine White (EW&F), taken lessons from Louis Johnson (Bro Johnson's) and played with Howard Hewitt from Shalamar.
Very Smooth. Sweet and crisp. Plus you add you personal touch. Another Classic. You taste in music. I spend this tune. I like it when you break it down.!
great!
wish i could do it!

@isleoforkney it's the original bass line of the song
zeverus22 5 months ago
@zeverus22 oh I hadn't realised, are you sure?
isleoforkney 4 months ago
@isleoforkney yeah i'm pretty sure, well... maybe he modified it a little bit... but not too much :D
zeverus22 4 months ago
@zeverus22 I played it pretty much as it is in the original tune, may have a few minor differences because I figured it out by ear
tolinfitz 4 months ago
@tolinfitz yeah, i was pretty sure about that, thanks for sharing this great cover!!
zeverus22 4 months ago
@zeverus22 Yeh I know, but the bass line I'm sure I know it, is it from a film or a song? I'm sure I know it!
isleoforkney 4 months ago
@isleoforkney the bass line its originally from this song, but will smith made a "version" of this song for men in black! :D
zeverus22 4 months ago
@zeverus22 You lost me now! this is confusing, I'm sure I remember this song from 1982, and this is my favourite bass line of all time ; )
isleoforkney 4 months ago
@isleoforkney haha well, this song is called "forget me nots" it's from 1982 by patrice rushen.
then, in 1997 will smith made a "version" of this song for the movie but this version was called "men in black"
this video is a bass cover of the original version (the one from 1982). :D
zeverus22 4 months ago
@zeverus22 Yeh I know all this, my original comment was meant as a joke, but thanks for explaining!
