engpauloh, props. Do you know the date of this live performance?
btw Thanks for the back cover of Eli. It was Laura's keepsake of "Emmie and her love to be," Maria Desiderio! Laura at 19, Maria was thirteen, "so let the wind blow...Timer, I like her song and if the song goes minor I won't mind."
If you want the skinny, Google "An Open Letter to Dan Nigro Re: Laura Nyro" The Appendix has the '68 Van der Horst in-house rave revealing the origins of: "Emmie" as me; and the Back Cover of Eli.
This is Laura's cousin Danny. Thank you for posting this bare and intimate version of Emmie, a song which Laura said was "about the eternal feminine." The cycle of a girl becoming a woman, and here, Laura the young woman lyrically longs for, but ultimately kisses goodbye the fading innocence of her girlhood. A beautiful and unique expression of self-realization. It never grows old. Thanks for keeping it alive! Wishing you the best.. Dan
I love this version esp. the uptempo ending and the fact she does the whole song, (who stole mama heart, and cuddled in her garden..,? Darlin' Emmie) thank you my friend, I'm working on Timer from the same concert, hope my graphics are half as good as yours. Your version of Emmie is brilliant! your friend, JigsawCaptain
@JigsawCaptain Laura refers to her younger self as Emmie, and her "mama" would have, indeed, been her mother, my Aunt Gilda, a wonderful, protective lady who doted on and guarded Laura, and with whom Laura was extremely close. This was my Aunt Gilda's favorite song of Laura's.
This song captures love soul and melodic perfection! loved it 3 decades ago, love it NOW chacka69 Bless 2012

This is a classic song. I saw her perform several times at the Bottom Line. Thanks for the memories.

You´re welcome! Nothing of it is possible without a good software... and of course, be inspired by a very good music. :o).
Laura must see the light. That´s the way we can talk and listen to her constantly.
