That's what the Rockstar OST is about. Combining the elements of Indian music with Rock music. So stop comparing Rahman with all those Western bands to make yourself look like a rock music lover.
Yes, what Rahman has done in Rockstar is WAY different from the works of the Western bands. But it still has all the elements of Rock music(electric guitar,electric bass guitar,drums) and a number of other instruments in addition. Even Imtiaz has himself said that he wanted the soundtrack to have elements of Indian music.
Let's do some reaserch on rock music and have a look at what wikipedia says about it>>'Musically, rock has centred around the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with bass guitar and drums. Typically, rock is song-based music with a 4/4 beat utilizing a verse-chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse and common musical characteristics are difficult to define.'
I am going to post this on each and every video from Rockstar.
There are so many comments about how the songs from Rockstar are not 'ROCK' music.. And then there are these really naive people throwing out all the names of the Western bands(For instance, Led Zep,The Beatles,Pink Floyd etc.) and comparing them to Rahman. LOL I read comments like>

You are entitled to your opinion. But as a matter of fact, Rockstar music is already a huge hit, which couldn't have happened if it had below par music. It has topped charts in US, UK and many other countries. It is the number 1 world music album in itunes. Sadda Haq is topping the charts across all radio stations in India. Maybe your sense of music is different than others. No hard feelings.
Just so you know, in itunes it's no where close to topping the world music.
And radio stations are too busy playing Chammak Challo
Even if it did top any chart, I'd still say - it just didn't appeal me.
I'm a huuuuge fan of ARR and I had expected a lot from this song. He certainly can do much better than this Rockstar album. I always believed ARR's a Genius and this is certainly below what a Genius can come up with.

Just have a look at the comments on this video. Just google once and read the reviews of Rockstar and how people/critics have praised this song. Continued - Have u seen Metallica perform live? They r rockstars and they act crazy since they r doped. Ranbir is not a sensible person in this movie, dumb ass. He's a self destructive musician in the second half & his songs r the outcome of his frustration on the system. Pretty dumb of u to expect him to be a sensible person. He's not acting as the PM of India in this movie. LOL!

@potterbond007 where did he overact....get your facts right before saying anything about him, he is playing a "rockstar" in the film...he is not an actor in the film to care about his expressions.....that is how rockstars behave in music concerts and live performances :)...they have a carefree attitude and they don't give a shit about anybody or anything....
