  • Happy 100th Birthday Vincent. I'm sorry I missed it.

  • i could swear i've heard this melody before..

  • @backoncemore

Im not sure what exactly the name of it is.

But it's a song that's commonly associated with ancient Egypt.lol

Like when somebody does that stupid "egyptian dance" with their hands and head.

    They always..hum? that song.

    And look here.

    0:23 in this video lol!

    /watch?v=WxMzyCO0Pyk&feature=related

If anybody knows the name of that song...I need to know!

  • @backoncemore twilight in turkey

  • This is amazing. Tim Burton's words turn my soul to ash. I love it

  • It's...... brilliant. E. A. Poe is a genius, and so is Tim Burton. :D

  • sorry if i offended the scissorhands, but that is bad entertainement, not cinema. i watched this little animation moved by sincere curiosity and what i found here in the commentaries is absurd, i'm sorry it's just my opinion. there is a lot of nice animation on youtube, alexandr petrov and all that stuff, lets leave the poor old burton, alone. i left that commentario years ago, why people still bother with that? i think it's all burtonfundamentalism. sorry about the bad english too.

  • This is a fond teenage memory.

  • Whats the melody Vincent is playing? :)

  • @justjokable The Snake Charmer. I play it all the TIME! Not that I like it only because..I don't know it makes me trip.

  • @justjokable mhm... it looks stairway to heaven!?!?!

  • If he's refering to Annabell Lee.. She was already dead when they burried her in the sepu- but I love this story.

  • In the name of the Poe, the Burton, and the Vincent Price. Amen.

  • Tim burton rocks :)

  • he doesn't mind living with his sister dog and cats.... hahaha the sister cracks me up so bad for some reason.

  • wow!

  • the first 10 seconds are just pure magic

  • almost made me cry. Beautiful video!!

  • Tim Burton is my Inspiration, well Shane Dawson is to, but I am 13 and I love this dark and gloomy stuff its so cool, and I love making movies, I don't have a camera or clay or have time to draw, but I think about how the movie looks and in my mind it seems like a funny dark gloomy story that turns out to be awesome, yes people may die and go insane in them, but as the darker and gloomier my videos get the get funnier, and Tim Burton is my Inspiration. Thank you Tim, you are a genius....

  • @ChrisSmithVideos2 Shane Dawson? hahah:) You should start scripting and sketching love. that's the start.

  • Tim Burton is a excellence seriously i love every single movie he has.i would like to visit his museum

  • Happy Birthday Tim Burton

  • I LOVE the voice of VIncent Price and the way he speaks... And of course the little movie too.

  • i never wanted it to end....

  • thats a very good work!

  • Tim Burton...! awesome work...! :D

  • beautiful!

  • I absolutely love this work..

can someone of you tell me what for a piece vincent plays at the very beginning on his flute?

    This would be really nice...

    greetings from Germany :)

  • Burton started out brilliant, now he's just stuck in a rut that's lasted several films now.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr

Ya, Alice In Wonderland could've been better, but Sweeney Todd was bloody excellent. And Dark Shadows is starting production soon, and that looks like it'll be good. I hope anyway. :D

  • Tim Burton is awesome!!!! The inf;uences he got from Poe in these short videos is really awesome! Very creative!!

  • Tim, you have done many great thing, but this.. It's unbelievable how amazing this is.

  • How beautifully written, and what an irony that unbeknownst to him (Malloy) his hero is the one narrating his tale. = )

  • just completly wonderful

  • Oi. Burton. What beautiful work.

  • I don't remember hearing anything about Vincent Price killing his aunt or experimenting on animals.

  • But he wants to be just like Vincent Price...

    Who doesnt = D

  • @Leonelvis You fail.

  • @Ziixt okie dokie, he is a great director then, shoulder to shoulder with herzog, glauber rocha, tarkovisky, coppola... my mistake, he is not a flat-minded, very creative and all... the majority rules.

  • @Leonelvis

You're missing the point of his style and stories.

He's not trying to be "shoulder to shoulder" with those directors.

With the names that you named and your pretentious attitude.

I bet you're a film student aren't you? You were taught what to like?

Deep down do you have a genuine love for those directors and their films? I doubt it.

I bet you're the type to "enjoy" minimalist and abstract "art" too huh?

Pretending that it has some deep meaning.

    lol

  • @Skeletonwitharaygun not really, the thing is that he is not even a mediocre director but he has became an object of a cult. he didn't do anything diferent in his movies, most of it it's only a bad joke of some past movie genre. and no, i'm not a film student, i just watch movies everyday, at least two per day, and those directors that i named really achieved something diferent in their films.that's why what they make is cinema, and what burton does it's not.

  • @Leonelvis Tim Burton is great, the thing is that not every body can admire he´s point of view. Actually my friend, the most wonderfulls directors, or the real directors make movies that not every body understand, everything it´s say since aristoteles and schakespere the thing is recreate a moment and impress your point of view, for me Burton it´s liked the hitchcok of our times. Im a film student and fan of Mister Tim Burton. Amen for Edgar Allan Poe, Vincent and Tim Burton

  • @1VAmpkro ok buddy, he is original like hitchcock, you're right. why discuss? he doesn't make a bad copy of expressionism, he is only inspired, right? he is even better. milk shakespeare too, all genius with point of views that we poor mortals cannot discuss. keep studying cinema, i'm just public, i like movie and cinema. that's all, don't bother to listen to my opinion... i'm so dumb that i prefer self-taught directors. maybe if i study too i will understand tim burton, hahaha

  • @1VAmpkro oh yeah, and "amen" means something like "so it be"... it makes more sense if you use it with quotations not with people's names... but anyway, you study images not words, you don't have to know that...

  • @Skeletonwitharaygun you invented your preferences didn't you? i knew it, you are the "free individual" that the liberals believe so much... express your true self through your opinions and preferences, this seem so cool and original... well, we agree in two things, minimalist art is shit, and it is very annoying to receive a response from a commentary in a youtube video months later... the guy you think is very cool may look stupid to other person, get over it. =]

  • tim burton, edgar alen poe, and vincent price, are perhaps the best combination of great thinkers. i absolutly love this. and every thing else of theirs. absolutly amazing work when all three cooky minds are combined!

  • @theehotgurl okay honestly that's just your opinion. doesn't necessarily mean it's true or false. can't prove anything

  • I need just the audio....

  • this is my life, well how i want it to be, spiders and bats. the darkness tormenting me. it is my cup of tea :)

  • respect !!! classic film ...

  • Tim Burton has an imagination that wants you to hide under your bed or have you on the edge of your seat ... His style full of spookiness and fun

    I really admire Tim Burton

  • i <3333333333 tim buton everyone will die when he passes away ill b dead i love him e rockkkkssssss

  • :) Vincent Price is awesome....but not as awesome as Edgar Allen Poe :D

  • UnspokenVoice, I know what you mean. This film is amazing, and it does give one the feeling of lack of breath, or of having it taken away as if they are in love.

Edgar Allan Poe, was a brilliant man, and I love to see his work continued on, and adapted like this. It is amazing stuff, and definetly a favorite of mine to read.

Tim Burton is amazing, I keep watching this over and over again. And I feel almost sad, when it is finished

  • This film still takes my breath away as if it were my first love

  • That's the same way i feel abaout

    I LOVE TIM BURTON <3

    He is a f*cking genius

  • Tim Burton is a genuis. I can't wait until his adaptation of Alice in Wonderland comes out.

  • SAME!

I heard he's going to keep it closer to the book. The book (I don't know if you've read it) is actually quite dark and a bit twisted.

Which Tim Burton does exceptionally well.

  • most original book versions of disney movies are darker and more mature...

I LOVE TIM BURTON. He's just such a freaking genius <3

  • LOVE TIM BURTON!!!!!!! LOVE HIM!!!!!!!! His vision is much like wht I see, I understnd dear Vincent Malloy

  • I think it's Snake Charmer

  • @bonniegila

I found it! Go to Wikipedia and type in The Streets of Cairo. The melody seems to have a long and varied history!

  • my breath has truly been taken

  • Truly beautiful...

  • Wonderful tribute to the late great Vincent Price. Thanks for making this Tim Burton short available. :-)

  • amazing (:

  • classic.

    beautifully classic.

    :)

  • Reminds a bit of my life, ha. :)

  • what could be the inspiration of Tim burton, so weird but at the same time so beautyfull.

  • does anyone else realize how much the song at the begining and the music to hokus pokus by icp sound alike?

  • sorry it's not main theme of time of gypsies.

  • gypsy reggae- Goran Bregovic

    time of gypsies main theme

  • anyone knows the title of this track from 0:11-0:34?

  • beautiful :)

  • I love this video i always watched it after the nightmare before christmas.

  • This is so beautiful, purely epic.

  • i fell in love with that movie. oh gawd! it was beautiful! im friggen speachless!!!

  • That was beautiful. Is there any more movies like this? Doesn't only have to be Tim Burton.

  • nice

  • Vicent price is the narrator

  • I called my kid Vincent Malloy Price Tim Burton after this.

  • That was purely beautiful.

  • tim burton is dark genious!!i love his work.

  • "Shall be lifted...

    nevermore"

    Simply genious!

  • Es genial la lírica que se usa en los diálogos de este genial corto animado. Es casi como una macabra poesía, plena de elocuencia. Muy bien por el Sr. Burton cuya creatividad nunca ha cesado.

  • I love tim burtons films they usually have an interestingly dark impulse on them.

  • 4:45 Jack on the left?

  • yeah, looks a bit like him.. dunno .. maybe ;D

  • This is just GENIUS

  • every tim burton movie is fatastic

    Love this :D

  • i agree

  • I agree with fuckedupboy. I admire Burton for what he is and what hes done over the years... not for Jack Skellington t-shirts.

  • Help get Tim Burton's classic 1987 cartoon FAMILY DOG released on DVD!

    Write Universal personally: universalstudios (DOT) com / homepage / html / contact _ us / contact_form (DOT) cgi?email _ id=10

The Petition is 100% FREE. It may ask for a donation but that's completely optional. Spread the Word!

    Cheers!

  • "vincent Malloy is 7 years old..." and scary as hell! But you gotta love this animation. I hope Tim Burton will do something more soon. He is so good! Hope he'll never lose that wonderful charm of everything he does.

Do you think Keane's Bedshaped was based on this film?

  • YES!

  • Actually, it's not. The boy in the Bedshaped video is taken from the animated film 'Butterfly' by Corin Hardy. ;)
