  • 00:34.........um waht?

  • Grim fandango and Full Throttle... To me they're simply the best.

  • There was an adventure game, Where at beginning you see few coloured clothing people gathering for a meeting, Then u start at the streets and u get teleported to sum castle hall... Any1 know what game it is? I cant remember its name

  • whats the game at 1;36

  • Titanic: Adventure out of Time was great for its time and had many endings.

  • What a great genre

  • Good list of games, it's funny because you're list doesn't like indie games. I like how it fades out at the end. Also the timing was really cool at the beat.

  • Oh boy am I still in love with Zoë Castillo :/

  • This is really all I did in the 90s. Play these silly games :)

  • Does Phoenix Wright really count as an Adventure Game? I can see the Miles Edgeworth Investigations counting, but think the rest are less about exploration and more or less just navigating the dialog trees.

I'm a fan of the series as a whole myself, I just am not sure they qualify.

  • Cool games :D

  • Sierra used to be the king of adventure games back in the day... sadly, with the fall of adventure games, so has fallen Sierra.

  • LoL I love how the picture quality goes from pixelated to BAM realistic (Myst) then back to pixelated

  • You should update this and add The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Tales Of Monkey Island :P

  • An amazing video,

Adventure games have always been my favourite.

  • Great compilation! Was a pleasure to watch! :)

Of course, you missed some great adventure games in this video (Lost Files Of Sherlock Holmes, The Longest Journey 1, etc.) but then again the video would have been 2 hours or something if you'd included all of them! :D

  • @SonataFanatica Lol, The Longest Journey 1 is in the video... he actually missed Syberia 2 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade... I concord about him missing Sherlock Holmes though :)

  • The myst series is awesome. My fave was probably myst iii exile or myst iv revelation

  • Really nice video. Best game genre ever.

  • what's the name of the song

  • You list the Sam and Max Seasons with Telltale Games... but the accompanying clip is from the cancelled LucasArts Freelance Police from two years before? Didn't you even watch that thing in full before including it?

  • does anyone now the adventure game where you play as a dragon?

  • @DAiR210

    Blazing Dragons.

  • and spyro :p

  • @DAiR210 TROGDOR!!

  • More like "History of Sierra, LucasArts, Cyan and Presto adventures". No place for Legend Ent. adventures (Death Gate, Eric the Unready, Callahan's CS), The Last Express, Blade Runner, Little Big Adventure, Tex Murphy or Cryo games? That's hardly a history, I'm sorry. Though glad to see at least Simon the Sorcerer and Shadow of the Comet made it to this compilation.

  • those early 3d games aged awfully... while cartoonized 2d will always survive the test of time.

  • feeble files???

  • Hell Yea! Grim Fandango!

  • Whats that video game about this little kid and his frog named horny?

  • @Gmancrap: that's "The Adventures of Willy Beamish" :)

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! iv been trying to find i for years!

  • @Gmancrap There's a video game with a frog named horny?! Have to check that one out....

  • Yeah haha, Applemctom reminded me it was The Adventures of Willy Beamish.

  • Found it Hand of Fate - Ways to Die

    :D

  • am looking for my old game i never completed i remeber the cover was white and whit taro cards on it .. i guess is between 1994 - 1997 sum thing . help

  • Those Police Quest games were a blast. I wish they'd make a new one, that would be sweet.

  • kings quest 7 was my fav game wen i was young

  • Does anyone know a game which takes place in a modern-technologic world and where you play a female character, the engine is simlar to lngest journey but the story is more different? I think i've seen it but i'm not sure :( can anyone help me out?

  • Syberia and Syberia 2? Or Dreamfall?

  • nonono it was different I have played dreamfall, main character was female but it was taking place in future like minority raport , she was some sort of detective or something there were robots talking and cars flying, an adventure type...

  • I just played the demo but puzzles and atmosphere was good and fun to play, it was like 8-9 years ago x))

  • The Hobbit is the first adventure game I ever played :)

  • what is that game at :56

  • Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (Sierra)

  • Nostalgic!... it brings back good memories from my childhood. Many good hours spend playing these games!

  • RUNAWAY SERIES???

If you like these games you should really try this series.

The last one of the series is coming out in 2009/2010

  • What happened to Ratchet And Clank?

  • Not an adventure game. These are point-and-click adventure games.

  • Is this a personal history of adventure games you've played? Cause if it's not a personal list there's a lot missing. King's Quest VI, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Lure of the Temptress, just to name a few.

  • I remember the 7th guest. I HATED that game.

  • you just that this genre is going to make a major comeback

  • Worst game in this video: Return to Zork

  • monkey Island and Sam and Max are my favs I also like hotel dusk

  • Great list..maybe you can add big red adventure and dream web to it ...

  • I can't believe I recognized so many of these games.

  • i want a old game that was point and click.. only had the demo. it starts off being on top of a high rise apartment block with a carpark on top (set in future where cars float) you have to get into a apartment by breaking in and recovering some object. please help! i am describing this all from memory, so maybe a lil bit hazey. it was around 99/2000

  • Sounds like "Beneath a Steel Sky" to me

  • erm no, a lil bit more modern than then sorry. i remember that the elevators talked. i want this game so bad, but my childhood memories arnt that great

  • the answer was nightlong- union city conspiricy

    yay i found it :D

  • ok great, I don't know that game :)

  • Thank you

  • zack and wiki was actually very good

  • Quantity over quality so 3/5

  • all the clips were WAAAAAAAAAAAY too short.

    3/5

  • What is the name of the game 0.54 ?

  • Day of the Tentacle

  • That was a nice compilation, albeit too short for each game...

I remember a point and click adventure game that my brother played when I was 5. It was like the Star Trek games. You play as a guy going into a space station, and the station had facilities such as a badminton court, etc. Then there was a yellow killer alien loose and it can bite people in half. And there was a scene where you used the badminton net to trap the alien coming through the door.

What was the name of that game?

  • Sounds a bit like Space Quest, though I'm not sure which one. If you played as a blonde man named Roger, then it definitely was.

  • I remember it had voice acting too. And the main character seemed to be bald but had facial hair. I remember one scene where he led two of the surviving crew members to escape the space station...

  • whats the game at 0:45?

  • Legend of Kyrandia

  • Myst and Journeyman Project FTW.

  • brill vid m8 and really impressed wiv how u listed them out too in your description! top stuff well done

  • Space Quest, Sam and Max, Quest for Glory were great games, oh and so was King's Quest.

  • Looking back now, it's amazing to see how Sierra really defined and dominated the graphic adventure game genre for so long. Their basic format is still used twenty years later.

  • Not bad but you should of included names to the games , and had more time to reflect on each one.

  • Full throttle still stands as having one of the best endings according to Gamespot.

It's not a sad ending - it's not a happy ending... It's just an ending showing how reality can sometimes make love impossible.

  • @menorche Yeah that was actually a great ending how he just leaves the limo.

  • Wow! It's funny how I used to play some of these games 10 years ago and I actually remember them. :)

  • Wow, and here I thought adventure games were dead! Well, maybe just the good ones...

  • Wow. I used to play pretty much ALL the game in the early video (especially all the Sierra and LucasArts games). But the later ones?

Except for the new Sam & Max games by Telltale, none of them.

  • Whats the name of the game at 1:16 an the other game at 1:38?

  • Journeyman Project 2 (Buried in Time) & Broken Sword 4

  • Great games. They don't make 'em like they used to.

  • brings back memories doesn't it? hehe

  • Lucas Arts and Sierra - makers of sweet adventure games

  • Or Infocom if you wanna get really oldschool.

  • Infocom too, for the earliest ones.

  • That was supposed to be a reply to czuket, but youtube is like NO DEAL.

  • Aww, I remeberd when I played "Beneath a steel sky". Good times and good games indeed. Not to mention "Riven" which literally stole my whole childhood XD And good choise to include "Phoenix Wright" in the end too. Good list :)

  • fakin firefox cannot add comments

  • what is the name of game showed @ 0:57-0:58 with rabbit and dog the cop? thankx for an answer

  • Sam & Max Hit the Road

  • Tnx :)

  • Whats the name of the game at 1:16 an the other game at 1:38?

  • No AGS games? Shame on you!

  • He is probably not familiar with freeware games. No shame on him IMHO.

  • What is the game at 1:04, it looks good?

  • King's Quest VII

  • thanks

  • Another good adventure game is Another World made back in 1991, you should check it out.

  • That's not an adventure game! It's a platformer!

  • well i had quite an adventure playing it.

  • Actually that's a classic adventure from Revolution Software called "Beneath A Steel Sky".

  • i'll be honest- i dont think ive ever seen those games before. the 1 with the detective dog and the bunny sidekick looks very cool. id like to know the name of that game so i can play it. there was a game that had powers similar to dragonball z but it wasnt dbz that wasnt in this video that forgot the name of.

  • Sam & Max.

  • oh. cool thanks

  • How can you set such shitty music to such great games? I mean ...!

  • id rather hear the midis to the games instead of this weak band whoever they are.

  • Just to throw in my share, how about Tex Murphy, & then there a game I came upon a couple of years ago called Tony Tough; fun game, hard puzzles.

  • Nice.. but an obvious lack of Level 9, Magnetic Scrolls and Legend love, just to name a few ;)

  • Some of the games at the beginning remind me of "Peasant's Quest" from homestarrunner.

I remember going on that website like 3 years ago trying to beat that dern game.

  • leisure suit larry?...adventure?

  • yes?

  • I really wouldn't know what to call it coz I never had it but from what i heard of it, LSL was like a humorous social/date simulator...something that would kind of been a pioneer to it's own genre! I suppose if it has enemies that actively combats larry it could well have been an adventure game. how could you describe the gameplay?...anyone?..anyone in their late 20s 30s?..LOL

  • the gameplay of the first LSL is the same as of the first Space Quest, King's Quest or Police Quest. No combat.

  • Adventure games do not have combat. You might be thinking of role-playing games. I know "adventure" could mean anything, but there is specific meaning in gaming history.

  • Omg I used to play Loom that totally brought me back

  • i think the best adventure games were the ones that came out from 87-99

sort of went downhill at the turn of the century

with the exception of sam and max

  • Syberia series are some awesome adventure games. Everyone should play them.

    Nice video!

  • Nice tribute to by far my favorite game genre. I have only played a somewhat low number of these, but I also tend to play lesser known adventure games excluding Myst.

  • OBJECTION!

I didn't know Pheniox Wright was an adventure, but then again, I never played it. So, nothing to back it up. Nice vid.

  • Cool Video , and good choice in music
