@boogiebuddy01 In a sense. It's based (well, the main idea anyway) comes from the book called Wicked. Lots of the book/musical take place BEFORE the wizard of oz. From TWOO onwards, its "parallel". You're seeing what the movie "didnt show", so to speak.

People need to give Idina more credit. When did the RENT DVD get filmed? Because I'm sure if she was singing Wicked, re-recording RENT and dividing herself up, she was going to get tired. I think she's starting to sound much better (still a little shrill for my taste, but much better than at some points of the London run of Wicked)

For anybody who has seen the show don't u think videos kill defying gravity because on stage elphaba come a lot more foward and it's just magical and I agree idinas voice was messed up but think all her roles have been demanding characters I mean vocal wise eg rent wicked etc

People love her so much- she originated the role. She did all the work for all the other Elphabas to branch off of. Also- she sings the score how its written. The original production, the original score- no riffing up and down the scale. She took the direction she was given and created the role from nothing. She has to get some credit for that, if not for anything else, but as a creative artist.

@cabbiechik Creative artist yes....musical artist, no. I give Stephanie J. Block credit for the majority of the song structure....the settled upon and actually singable keys and The Wizard and I definitely are Idina's forever.

It would either be Cassidy Janson or Ashleigh Gray. If it was the standby, CJ, or the understudy it'd be Ashleigh. Hope that helped!
