I really think this is an awesome idea. However, I have had an experience recently where practically all of my cassettes were eaten beyond saving by the tape player. So I think if you could export the songs to mp3, it would be good at least to provide a back up copy. That way if disaster struck someone wouldn't have completely lost that unique version.

I love analogue sound vs digital sound. Analogue sounds so much more human. My mother dug out her old Beatles tapes a few months back, and oh my gosh it was bliss in audio. I actually didn't recognise Lennon's early vocals on some tracks I hadn't heard before. It was like discovering them all over again.

Can I have you do a cover or two as well? I'd definitely be interested regardless =)

Very cool idea! I would get one. Where did you find that cassette recorder? My brother has been looking for one of those because he is an audio engineering major. We have tried thrift shops but haven't had much luck.

Do it. My car has a tape player so it would work. I can definitely say I'd buy it. It sounds like a fun project. Akin to getting a traditional piece of work as opposed to ordering a digital drawing, only one exists, which is why (slightly) older forms of media hold a special place in my heart.

But it would also be cool to have the MP3 to listen to when I'm walking places.

I love the idea of an exclusive recording, but I think they're right that the price is too low considering the hours you'd have to put in. I also think that seeing as the only cassette player I could use is at my mum's house, it'd be handier to have the MP3s with the cassette as an opt-in extra cost. If I had to get the cassette to get the MP3, the cassette would just be an ornament...

If i understand this properly you're going to make everyone their own tape? Mike let's be honest. if you're going to personalize a recording for someone you should be charging more than $12. Factor in the time it takes for each one. What if 200 people wanted them? It's going to probably take 2-3 hours per tape and you're giving something extremely exclusive so there's good reason to charge more. idk if anyone agrees with me but i think you need to not underprice them or youll regret it later

my old voice teacher used to make me record myself on tapes, actual tapes, and listen to them in a tape player. i understood she wanted me to listen to myself sing (something I cringe at), but it was so not needed. she recorded our lessons on tapes and gave them to me. it was weird and annoying. I'm kind of anti-tape. we've moved on in society, so we don't need them anymore.

I'm really excited about this, I think it's a really cool idea. Part of the intrigue is the fact that it's a cassette tape and not a cd.  Plus your music is really good to that's a motivating factor as well. :)

I do have a tape player... I probably would order it! I don't know if you are a Say Anything fan, but Max, the lead singer, did something similar to this. Except it was much more expensive and he wrote new songs. In any case, I really do like the idea! I think it feels much more personal than an mp3 download! :)
