Reason: Deodorant indeed fills up the scratches, But not with data. It fills things up with Deo itself.

When scratched, there are two options to take

1) make a backup CD with burning and ripping tools (might also work with damaged CD's, but youll need a fairly fast CD reader)

2) Buy a new CD and be careful (put it back in cover ETC.)

Dont believe this, it will ruin your CD.

@nikko8P If you scratched it enough that you got to the data layer, then your game CD is screwed. CDs have layers on them, particularly the data layer and the protective layer. The protective layer(front and back) protect the data itself from being destroyed. So as long as you didn't scratch it so bad that you destroyed some of the data, you can at least fix the protective layer with deodorant. When the protective layer is scratched, the laser cannot interpret or return any data to the machine.

I used this method and it worked very well...at least for now... i did it on a ps2 game (the sims) but i didnt have like a big gash...it was covered all over with little scratches but i mean COVERED... my ps2 was making a weird clickin noise everytime i tried to play it and it would say the disc could not be read...but now its workin

Thanxs man i tried this on a cd frist to see if it does work and sure enough it worked so from there i used it on a dvd that played but when it gets to this certain spot it skips..after using this it plays on that spot but still kinda of skips.. 5stars

i used the deoderant and it doesnt work it actually made my disk so bad they wont fix it at play and trade because they said its damaged beyond repair
