Don't get me wrong, those sub-pop bands are fine, but you might as well listen to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Alot of the same harmonies. Midlake tends to sound like sparklehorse, neil young, fleetwood mac (on van occupanther) but they do it without directly ripping any one style. I hope they don't get too carried away with these professional looking videos like the one for young bride. It detracts from the organic feeling music.

These melodies are so lush. Keep it up midlake. Their music is head and shoulders above any of these other folky imitators like fleet foxes, band of horses, the whole sub pop crew. these guys were starting to do that first when I found their site and experienced bamnan and slivercork about 5 or 6 years back. There's just something more sincere about midlake.
