No. Forcing everyone to use four stroke engines and tossing our freedom of choice out the window, basically ruined motorcycle racing. The Nazis had a less subtle way of getting their message across, Honda just used money and bought the AMA.
There are no beginner or Intermediate classes in AMA Pro. You can club race with CCS or Wera and will only allowed to run the expert classes with them. Look at it as CCS/Wera normal race weekends is like playing High School football (AM/EX) and running the CCS/WERA nationals as playing college ball and AMA Pro Road racing is like playing pro ball. You really want answers register on AllStoneArmy and ask away.
Maybe someone can answer my question here.... I raced in the AMA in motocross and because I went to the nationals I'm no longer allowed to ride in any beginner or intermediate classes in the AMA...Will this apply to road racing?? Am I going to have to get my ass kicked for years before I even stand a chance in an elite class?
can a bike engine be modified the same way a car engine is? can you change bore & stroke, compression, can the oil pan handle the g forces without starving the engine.. do they have cams ?
@mellowdalyricist first off , yes they have cams . and most people dont feel the need to go beyond full exhaust ,intake and mapping . that will get you near 170 hp at the rear wheel !!!. unlike a car. 99% of people do not ride bikes anywhere near there potential . stuff like suspension and brakes are way more important on modern bikes . compression is already over 12 to 1 on most . some 13 to 1 . nothing really to improve on with pump fuel ..... cheers
@Nihadkeso buy something that is cheap and easy to learn to ride i started when i was 16 now 21. insurance rate on any sport bike is gonna be thousand and thousands trust me any 1000cc bike will be 13 000$ roughly and super sport bike even 600cc.
@buckwheat40 If you could ride fast enough to keep even the slowest superbike racer in sight for one lap, you'd have a right to talk about their leathers. As it is, get your Big Gulp Pepsi and your chili dog and go sit quietly in the stands.
@jeenyus720 The cracking and popping are called "afterfire," and it happens on a closed throttle at high engine speed because the FI is mapped to feed some fuel at throttle-off to soften the engine braking at full lean and make the bike more controllable.
@riderpoet Actually its him riding on the traction control.... The ECU is cutting a cylinder and it sounds like it... look at videos of the Bazzaz FI-TC unit at work and they sound exactly like that... Your right that they do that with "post ignition injection" but its more the traction control than that
@riderpoet Now that's something I hadn't considered. But traction control only applies to "positive thrust" situations where the throttle is at least partly open, right? I thought the popping was happening during corner entry, when the throttle would presumably be closed. I'll have to rewatch it, thanks for the input.
Also I say it a lot but there is a big difference between perfect air-fuel ratio and the best power. Top teams don't really care about the life of a motor so the risks of running a bike really rich doesn't really bother them which also causes back firing under reduced loads as we all know... Without looking at the teams data its impossible to determine which of the 3 is causing the "popping" noise at any given time but they are all factors
Qualsiasi 1000 preparato a dovere sta pari alla tua fottutissima r1...il resto lo fa il pilota...penso che la nuova rsv4 factory gli stia ben attaccata al codone, fra l'altro bruttissimo della r1!
@MDNSBS Ffs.....That's because of aerodynamics. Anyone that has a clue about bikes or has driven big liter bikes knows that tomohawk thing is pure bullshit.
You guys really are stooges. "See if we can steal Neil's bike". Even 3 year olds figure it out you're full of it. And what's with the grandpa hat? Getting bold my little man? Atlas my ass, more like Asswipe.
Yep, unburnt fuel gets to the exhaust system. Same sound can be clearly heard for example on the IOM TT 2009 onboard videos (Plater, McGuinness, Martin etc.)
if u have dirtbike experience than the 250 will feel anemic for you. Really up to you though. go out and take one out for a test ride. 250 is an awesome starter bike, just sucks riding it on the highway at highway speeds and passing sucks. Check out the SV650 or ninja 650r. Those are pretty powerful but are very forgiving for beginners and i dont think u will get sick of the power.
well, if thats all you are going to use a motorcycle for, grab your self a cheap used one. used Ninja 250 or 650 or a used naked SV. i bet u can find one for under 2 grand in your area.
I love my little sv650, I'm sad though because the race abused engine is finally letting go at 50k miles. I've got a replacement in the works though ;-)
Sorry to hear that man, I am an Sv rider myself. Pretty new to riding, I've had my '06 sv650 streetfighter for about a year and I just turned 21. I getting used to the bike, and very excited about joining a sportbike club this spring. I do have a ? for u though, not that I really want to stunt the bike but I was wondering in you knew what rpm range I should use to clutch up in 2nd or 3rd? I know I can power it up, but I have heard that clutching is more predictable and easier once used to it..
well i know it will clutch right up at 4.5k in 1st lol. i looped it like the first week i had it lol. it really depends on how fast you were already going, if you just shifted into 2nd and maybe doing 20-30 then 6-7k should be just fine. for third and 4th it just goes up lol. just work up to what you are comfortable doing. the thing to get used to is letting the engine race a little before you dump the clutch. after that its clutch and rear brake modulation. for me power wheelies are too easy
Honda's are technically very brilliant. But, I personally, dont find the passion, or character that someone finds in a machine. Its something a bit personal, not technical. If there is something that will make you fall in love with the machine, then the ultimate machines are made by Yamaha. Something that can make you even mad than what you are or what you can be.
the engine creates a gyroscopic effect,a very strong one at that.if you ever ride a sportbike youd be suprised once your going 30mph or more the bike will balance itself, you have to make it lean to turn and then you let the bike stand itself back up as you come out of the turn
the engine is not responsible for that mate. otherwise all you would have to do is crack the throttle and it would stand itsself up without even moving. the gyroscopic effect is from the wheels spinning.
@46DOCTOR46 Pretty sure its not glue... They warm the tires up so that you can make those tight turns the second you hit the track. (Cold tire + sharp turns and speed = crash)

I like the new Honda CBR1000rr much more than the new Gsx-R1000 and R1.

by rapidly bleeding off the throttle you can help slow down the bike with the engine and the brakes at the same time, that's what causes the backfire
EricFrazer32 2 years ago
yea, it's called engine braking, and where you get the ever so cool afterburn!
akamikeg 2 years ago
It's not a backfire. The pop is created when unburned fuel makes its way into the exhaust system and ignites.

thats what a backfire system does lol
mikelike1234 2 years ago
No that's what a smog system does in a street bike. These bikes don't have those systems.

I can't imagine how much of an adrenaline rush that is. bike sounds amazing though
