The humans and forerunners never liked each other, in fact prehistoric humans were on the same tier 1 level as the forerunners, the humans had found a cure that turned the flood on its self, but then forerunners, devolved them,exiled them back to earth where the librarian took control,the flood came back and the forerunners didnt know what to do so they created the halo array and killed everything setting the humans back even further, just to say that you are the last hope made them reclaimers
If you look above where the Longsword that the Master Chief is flying you can see the outline of the Covenant flagship "Ascendant Justice" from the novel Halo: First Strike.
@Drixops22 no, ascendant justice would already of been destroyed at that point of the timeline, remember there was possible flood on board, so the human that was in charge (i forget her name) blew up the ship, as to not let it be possible for flood outbreak anywhere else in the galaxy. this all occurred before the ring was blown up

I've noticed some weird Forerunner glyphs at the end of each Terminal. I dig some digging, but I couldn't find any translation, so I got the translation sheet and did it myself. No big revelations, but still; interesting. Here are the Terminal translations, in order: 1. 343GS 2. HALO4 3. SPARK 4. FLOOD 5. EARTH 6. DEMON 7. RINGS 8. ARRAY 9. HUMAN 10. @phatmic6922, it's in the new series that Greg Bear is writing. The first two, and the only two out now, are Halo: Cryptum and Halo: Primordium. There was a battle between the humans and the Forerunners long ago(in Halo history, not real history), and lead to almost the first destruction of humanity. I don't think I'm explaining it that well but that's what I think it is.
