AJ just happens to have a raspy/gravelly voice anyway, which I,personally consider her trademark. Aly has a smooth, silky voice, the very opposite of her li'l sis. That's what makes their voices blend so well. I have seen them in concert, they are awesome performers, and very sweet girls too.
