Ok, to iheartmancheez, you clearly don't know good progressive newgrass when you hear it. I wouldn't call their new stuff different, but more technically sound with great timing. This side won a friggin grammy for best contemporary country album. Nickel Creek is the only band that does what they do. Sorry for the rant, but "swifly downhill" is far from the truth.

I agree completely. They're not even close to being categorized. Newgrass, Bluegrass, New Acoustic, Whatever; Nickel Creek is Nickel Creek. To be honest, they're the only band I can think of that can pull of Toxic without just making it worse. And to Charizzzle: I saw their concert in Reno during their Farewell For Now tour at the Grand Sierra Resort, and yes Sean is a bit pudgy, but damn is he cute, and damn is he amazing. I agree with lazysmurf like crazy. Peaceee+Lovee.

Nickel Creek's debut album was some of the best modern bluegrass ever. Since then, they have gone swiftly downhill.

I agree that their first cd was by far my favorite... But I still like their new stuff. It's just... different. One must make an adjustment after hearing the debut cd.
