  • Juan Atkins IS THE MAN!!!

  • i love detroit

  • Great !!!

  • The Scene. We would watch this after school back in the '70's & '80's. Great fun.

  • i know what you mean and in that point you're right with that theory... but i think more in a bambaataa-way... it should bring people together. that was my point actually...

haver heard/read lots of stuff about that social thing in detroit! terrible!

  • LOL "WHITE " LOL Say That to Carl Cox

  • This tune changed my life

  • Gig gig throw down those were the days.

  • Is this a bullshit vid then?.

  • Let's just Pray that Nat doesn't have this one pulled.

  • This shit is TIIIIIGGGGHHHHHTTTTTT!!! HOT HOT HOT!!!!

  • madness! good madness:P

  • LoL , that's is crazy old time :D nice dance , ye true detroit

  • The True Techno.

    The Original Techno.

quite different from todays "techno" dominated by white europeans

  • @DJmixmastermicro

I hate modern techno too, but

    ... racist much?

  • @normloman yeah, ironic considering the Detroit techno originators were influenced by white European electronic pop - Kraftwerk, Moroder, Gary Numan etc

  • @bboysattherave. which when you listen past the synthetics, the structure was itself influenced by the r&b & funky riffs of sly and the family stone, brown, parliament, etc.

  • @DJmixmastermicro Today's techno is not techno, is electro or minimal, the real european techno was produced mainly in Belgium and netherland in 1989-1995, but it wouldn't exist without the influence of detroit and EBM.

  • @DJmixmastermicro "white europeans" was quiet unnecessarely... even though i think you're right... most of that "techno" is whack... far away from that true shit!

  • @ZEANski. the music is great, but it doesnt exist in a neutral vaccum. there are cultural, ethnic, economic realities behind this music. the fact is in detroit, racism was/is a factor. go ask the detroit techno originators like may or atkins.

  • @DJmixmastermicro

Don't know exactly what white european artists do you listen to, but I know some modern techno tracks, that are similar to this, and thank god for this :)

  • 313 likes....the area code for detroit......

  • nice tv show....:-)))))))

  • SKEET SKEET GO WILD?

  • 1985

  • What is the year?!?!?

  • @LucoLuchi 1985

  • The early 80's were the best time for music, period: Detroit Techno, House music, early rap, HC/Punk, the beginnings of indie rock, the formation of dancehall stylee, industrial. Just so much good stuff happening all at one time....

  • my neighbor (and sister's best friend back then) was a dancer on this show. toni makuch (spelling?). i remember it was on around dinner time and the whole family would often tune in while we ate.only in detroit. no place like it.and i hope that someday we all start moving back!

  • @bueyokyan It's 6 o'clock and it's time to rock/ And we rock non-stop til 7 o'clock.... So, yes, it was "around dinner time" :)

  • have been watching this more then 5 times today.tomorrow morning we`ll do again...

  • damn i wonder what the chick at 1:14 is doing these days? lol

  • SWAG

  • 3:52 what's that only caucasian man on the floor thinking :D

  • @nelis2011 hahahahhaaaa....

  • Yeah, this is pretty much the best video I've ever seen.

  • deadmau5 is much better..

  • @deadmau5suckz

    0/10

  • @deadmau5suckz Are you kidding?

  • @daveyt25 no

    xD

  • @deadmau5suckz Deamau5 wouldn't even exist if it weren't for people like Juan Atkins. To appreciate current 'dance music' as we know it, you must also look to the past, to the people that created it. I'm fairly certain that even Deadmau5 would beg to differ with you... ;)

  • Too bad a bunch of hippies ruined it with acid and glowsticks

  • I'm a music teacher in the public school system and when I played this track as a dance-off for my 5th graders today (3/2/2011), the whole class went crazy over it! True techno never dies...

  • @justfromg It would be interesting to play it for different grades and gauge the reaction at different ages. Do it for science!

  • @justfromg THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING COOL.. THIS SHIT IS HYPED AS HELL...GOOD FOR YOU--THIS SHIT HYPES ME UP LIKE A MUTHA FUKKA...

  • Respond to this video... THIS IS DEEE TROIT GOT DAMMMMIT...

  • ex-cel-lent video! true techno minded crowd!

  • This is pretty awesome.

  • To a white raver from the early 90's, this is a revelation! I see young Michael Jackson in this!

  • 1:53 GET THIS GUY SOME GLOWSTICKS!!

  • Little did they know that what they were dancing to was the future, even now we are a long way off modern dance music being anywhere near as visionary as that.

  • 2:16 can i please go back in time and meet you? i would be 17 years old then.

  • juan atkins doesn't swing this hard anymore. :(

  • don't play with my heart

  • they look like a bunch of hipsters

  • Bro's before ho's.

  • ...WOW...I LOVE THIS!!!!!

  • is this for real? did they play detroit techno on tv?

  • @saturndown That video is from a show call The Scene, hosted by WGPR TV 62....techno was blasted from this station daily.

  • holy shit

  • that's a fuckin fantastic clip!!!!!

    thanks to have posted this!!!

  • I don't get it - do they really dance to that track or is it an overdub?

  • @shatterprone Can't you hear all that noise in the background? That's what they're actually dancing to.

  • @Caprice87: actually I was wondering BECAUSE of the live sound and the group dance moves, which are nowhere near synchronous to the music!

And it`s not impossible to overdub the original music and still maintain some of the crowd noise, at least at this low level of sound quality.

    But you`re probably right, anyway.

  • @shatterprone If you watch closely, or if you're from Detroit and danced this way, you'll see that it really is in time! check the hard popping at 3:38-4:12 or so. The hard pops hit right on beat! Some dancers wer just playing it real smooth, and you couldn't really tell that they were on beat, but they were!

  • it's a history ! i love it !

  • HAHA! they love to dance!

  • yes yes

  • too illumed

  • pure awesome, among the very best in 1980s electronic music

  • This video and track is brilliant...muchas gracias por posting it !!!

  • this is THE shit

  • This the generation that got on Crack. The worst Generation in history.

  • @ashonpar3 Love your sense of compassion there

  • @darriuk No compassion, this crack head generation burn down my neighborhood.

  • @ashonpar3 The generation x was also the greatest generation this universe have ever produced on this planet!

  • Anyone know what they are chanting? "This beat means get down"?

  • @aleksklax i thought they were chant "whoop, whoop the house", probably wrong though

  • this is why black people are the best!

  • Is this the Scene with Nat Morris or Moonman Connection? Looks like the Scene...

  • @mta415 Yes, this is indeed "The Scene", a local Detroit dance show which aired in the 70s and 80s. I grew up watching it religiously, and this clip really brings back memories! "Moonman" aired in DC and Baltimore. I don't think Detroit techno was played on that show, probably a lot of Go-Go though...

  • @citizencain01 being from the D as well I watched the Scene daily unless I had football practice (Cooley High School), I met Nat Morris in the late 80's in the airport, seemed pretty cool.

  • @citizencain01 forgot to add that Moonman Connection came on when the Scene went off. Cant remember the channel but I think it was 20 or 56...

  • I think the girls looked better back then.

  • @NinjaWarriorDude the music sure was better

  • thanks for the upload!!

  • this is fresh!

  • badd asss

  • Lol this is weird but cool. They seem to be more posing than really into the music. Weird lol.
