Sounds impossible. I would think that the moving tectonic plates and high heat/pressure would crush the tunnel. Could the human body even with stand the g's to cross that distance in 42 min? If the gravitational forces are balanced at the center of the earth than you would need some extra energy put into the train to over come the energy losses, and if that extra energy wasn't enough than the train would cycle back and forth and stop in the center of the earth trapped by huge forces! lol
just imagine!!! just making drill will pass hundreds generations.......lol..........just in paper!!!!!!!!!!mg lev is tyhe best probable optoion....thus is not ambitious but toooooooooooooooo ambitious..
this is malicious how can you shove a pin into a rock sack filled with molten rock and mineral which in itself has a current and movement like a twisting gear? the pin will just break into a quadrillion.... provided that firstly it wont melt... that is
@Lakopa8 i dont think they considered a lot of this. like if they did put tubes through there it would disrupt the flow of the mantle and the core and change the earth magnetic fields, resulting in a season change as it realigned on its new rotational axis while in orbit. not to mention screw up all migrating animals navigation systems. ohh and i would to have to buy a new garmin for my truck.
Did you see some of those corners they were turning at speed? They better invent inertial dampers before they even THINK about designing something like this... Or esle you'll be painting the walls in vomit...
@StuPadazzo Going that fast you would probably have to have train bunks that fill up with gas that put you to sleep till the ride has slowed down. Not to mentions there's not much to look at in the middle of the earth
@steven8hamilton You cannot build a rail system to the moon, the moon isn't geostationary. You can only build something in space to another thing in space if you can look at one, while on the other, and it appears to not move at all in the sky or rotate on any axis. It is very rare for such pairs to exist, and it would take a great deal of power and precision to create something or move something into such a position for the earth.
I hate these shows because they make people believe these modes of transport are feasible anytime in the next 50,000 years. Like--- "all you have to due is fold space and you can travel anywhere in space!" Hey it looks good on paper! It's gives most people (who are morons) the mistaken belief that engineering and technology can accomplish nearly impossible feats. It also serves to denigrate the amazing accomplishments of engineering thus far.
I don't know who came up with this idea, but it is impossible to free fall at an angle. The only way is directly through the center of gravity. If I am wrong, someone please explain.
@CalebMush The acceleration experienced at a shallow angle will be the product of earths gravitational acceleration and the sin of the angle with respect to earths surface.
@thebeginvideos You still cannot free fall at an angle. There must be a track to support the vehicle on the floor of the tunnel--the wall nearest gravity. The track supporting the vehicle creates friction, hence, the vehicle would still need a source of power to propel itself.
@CalebMush a Maglev train requires nothing touching the rail, It has a magnet over and under the rail at the same power that hold it firm but cause no friction.
@HostileYet89 This is true, MagLev is one of the best ways to travel in my opinion, but, it is intelligently run; must be programmed and electronically powered in order to suspend the vehicle on the tracks. The train does not simply float on the tracks, but the magnets on the walls of the tracks must react to the movement of the vehicle in order to keep it centered. Whenever the train begins to veer to one side of the track, the magnets will react accordingly to stabilize it.
@MoustachesAreEpic I don't that's a problem. G-force is a comparison of acceleration with the normal acceleration of the earth. When you know the normal acceleration on the earth surface is 9.80m/s²=1G (average), the maximum amount of G you will have to withstand is 1G (when there is no friction). Correct me if i'm wrong.
@MoustachesAreEpic G-force is not a force, it is an acceleration (so why do they call it G-'force'? no idea). The acceleration is caused by a force. The acceleration caused by gravity(force) is 9.80m/s² (just a number). When body has an acceleration of 3G, this means that it will accelerate three times as fast as the earth's gravity would do (so 3 x 9.80m/s²=29.4m/s²). In this case there are no other forces but gravity affecting the train, so the maximum acceleration will be 1G. But it' complex.
@ijzerwinkel1 This may also clear a few things up. The acceleration won't change during the trip until the train reaches the centre of the route. Only the speed changes (and is massive when the train reaches the centre). In the centre of the route the train reaches is maximum speed. The acceleration will reverse into -9.80m/s². While the train is making his trip back to the surface, he is being pulled downwards by the gravityforce. And that's how it brakes.
@tomyloveu Hey easy there u can get places lot faster now

Did anyone consider the fact that the core rotates at a different rate than the surface of the planet?

We also have another problem, G-Forces. The body can not withstand a positive G-Force of more than 5-6Gs and a negative of 1G.
