  • This man's mixture will let off steam in bigger applications, which is fine but he must be careful because steam will peal skin. Also he has to keep it wet and clean or it will dry out or get bacteria in it and stink like the dickens. It is easier to do the oil and silica with better cast results. If you want you can still add the clay he uses. All that does is give it a smoother finish, slightly. In no way am I saying not to use the gentleman's recipe, but I know what a steam burn looks like

  • I do aluminum casting, so it may be different, but i doubt it. I use play sand (silica sand) from lowes with new motor oil 10w 30. You mix them by eye, when the sand can stand up after you push it together with your hands, up to say 4or 5 inches then it is ready. I use as little as I can, but if you screw up you can add more sand. Easy-use common sense. It is reuseable and doesn't set on fire. If you doubt that mix a small batch and put a torch to it, just small amount of smoke.

  • We were very careful not to let that happen, I think you can guess the result of doing something so foolish.

  • What happens if you throw a live (a non-spent round) shell in?
