  • Son the big E playing his ass off on Steel

  • great great singer. i cant imagine someone not knowing who ray price is.

  • Just saw Ray Price last night at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, and he sang this song. The mans voice has not deserted him in the least. I'm here to tell you he can still rattle the rafters! What a treasure, what a pleasure, what a gentleman.

  • Still going at 85. How can you not like a person who want to sing this bad. This guy is not in it for the money. I started listening to him in the late 50's. And still love his song's

  • Who want's to see the torn jeans, The crazy hats. People are here for the song.Go get em Ray.!!!!!!! :)

  • As a 81 year old hillbilly. I still call it hillbilly music. They started calling it Country Western in the 60's, It went down hill ever since.

  • A terrific drinking song!

  • i agree that music today is awful. For one thing, the music is so loud you can;t hear if the singer is good.

  • manny, this crapola they play these days aint nothin but bad rock n roll.

  • wow! heard this song and got blown away. Sometimes music can hit the very core of emotional feelings and Ray Price does it easily.

  • NOW THATS GOOD MUSIC

  • Apologies to those who are thrown by the posting of simpson5092 as this ismy daughters' sign in name and it was actually me who posted in a reply to someone who wondered why classic country music was sidelined years ago.

  • I would love somebody to find and post a song called "The Other Man" from Spring, 1966 by Chuck? Wood. Sort of a response to this, not exactly.

  • Pure Country. Crying in your beer kinda music. Ray Price is the best.

  • My mother was walked home from a dance where Faron Young was playing during his early days...she actually was going to name me Faron but I ened up with my dad's dad name (Zacariah)...a long way from faron but i have played this typeof music since i was 11 years old. I have also played with some of Ray Prices' later musicians from the Mt. Pleasant, Tx area which is were Ray lives.

Just great music and Ray has had a great career and keeps on ticking.

  • Ray is the best of the best! In mhy opinion, only

Faron Young and Conway Twitty can even come close to him! What a gift God gave to us in him! I have bee n enjoying his singing for over 50 years!

  • JUST DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN RAY PRICE!! LOVE HIM!

  • It's all another aspect of the hatred of the United States that started with its founding. The evil bureaucrats of the world , led into it by Satan, hated the idea that a nation should be founded 'under God' in the pursuit of Liberty and Happiness. This is anathema to those trolls,so all sorts of attacks hatched under 'free speech' have been used to undermine it.

  • I am a NYC boy living in Greece and I love this guy....this is country but the voice, the feelings the lyrics are universal ! Only just found him and Faron Young....both so good they make me cry

  • Ray Price is the singer all country singers strive to be even metioned with in the same breath.

  • Wait wait wait!!!! Why have I never heard of this guy? His voice is awesome. I've heard of Conway Twitty, Tennessee Ford, ect. but not this guy. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @PrettyVillan, Well - Ray Price has been in the music business 60 years. He exemplifies original country music! He is Frank Sinatra of country music.

  • @PrettyVillan

Ray Price and Jim Reeves have the smoothest voices in music.

    Country classics forever.

  • @PrettyVillan As Lyle Lovett says.."Thats Right Youre NOT From Texas". We get swaddled on Ray Price, Bob Wills, Willie Nelson and Johnny Bush down here.

  • @PrettyVillan What??? Never heard of Ray Price? He's still touring all over the country at 85 years young, & PACKIN' the house every time!! Roger Miller, Willie Nelson, Buddy Emmons, Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall, & other greats have worked FOR him. Ray is absolutely one of the BEST!!!

  • @PrettyVillan - Ray Price, 109 Country chart hits - 45 Top 10 hits - 43 weeks in the #1 position - 11 Pop chart hits -

Including "For The Good Times" which spent 24 weeks on the Pop charts. His first chart hit was in 1952 and he was still charting hits in 1990. He's still touring. The question you ask is impossible to answer.....Indeed, why have you never heard of this guy?

  • There were some good country acts that came up in the 80s and 90s like Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakum, Alan Jackson, John Anderson and others. A lot of the stuff from Nashville in the 60s was pretty bad with its over-the-top production (listen to Willie Nelson's "And Then I Wrote" for an example). Nahville is a lot of what's wrong with Country and long has been.

  • There hasn't been a good country song written or sung since the mid-sixties...this is the real thing, and this dude can still sing at over 80 years old! Long after people start saying Garth who? Shania who? Tim who? Faith who? We will still be listening to and performing these songs.

  • garth brooks did for country and western what panty hose did for finger f#$%ing

  • another country swing from Texas, big influence on the Nashville Sound later introduced. awesome pedal steel guitar.

  • Breathtaking! Just doesn't get any better than this!

  • Don Rollins wrote "The Other Woman."

  • I miss country music too, the good stuff ! Bureaucrats should be shot! (thems the ones who 'discovered' new talent and segwayed all the old stuff, the ba***rds) : )

  • For all who miss the real country music. If you want to help please go to: traditional country music foundation and see what they are about and become a member! They are trying to keep it alive but they need your support.

  • A great performer. What a lot of people forget or do not know is the impact Ray Price had on country music in the late 50's even up to today. The "Ray Price beat" introduced in Crazy Arms was used in numerous mega hits. I Fall to Pieces, A White Sport Coat, Hello Walls, City Lights, to name but a few. Not only that but when you see a Ray Price performance you get your what you pay for, someone who appreciates his fans.

  • What a great influence in traditional country music. Many people feel like he may be the best. It would be hard to argue against that thought when he sings like this.

  • My folks were all in to country music.. Singing this song and others.. Cadmium is right about the steel guitar - However, the words to country is important..

  • I saw Ray Price several times in the 60s in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Often he would walk around among the customers when his band took a break. Very friendly guy. He appreciated and respected his audiences. One of the best country singers ever....PERIOD!

  • flashbell, can you find some bobby lord such as you and me against the world ?or loving you fas changed my life?

  • Ray Price and The Big E, it just doesn't get better!!!!

  • I love to play this song on my steel guitar. I make it whine

  • I absolutely am a steel guitar fan, LOVE IT! Alot of today's Country music is "missing that" in the sound of today, I miss the steel guitar sound myself... one of my FAV instruments and there are sure ALOT of VERY talented steel players here on YouTube that I have come across... quite Impressive as a matter of fact...

and Ray has always had a fine "steel guitar" presence in his music, love it! and the man can STILL sing, lol to boot!

  • country music is changing cause of big money but some new artist can play it and sing it i wonder if it is the producers that is doing it to them like jeff bates he can sing it man

  • idat as a kid listening to mom amd pops records man and ole radio shows

  • Oh I KNOW and I Love Jeff Bates, WHAT A VOICE... reminds me SO much of the late, Great Conway Twitty, my fav by Jeff: Long Slow Kisses... well alot of artists never got the recognition they so deserved or do: Keith Whitley, Gene Watson, Vern Gosdin, Tracy Lawrence, Sammy Kershaw, Mark Chesnutt, Collin Raye, Doug Stone, Clinton Gregory, Dale Watson, Junior Brown, Ricky Van Shelton, SO SO MANY others... shame.

Two of the SMARTEST ppl in the business though; REBA and Barbara Mandrell... KUDOS!

  • I know all those names...I can't believe young people love old music!!

  • I'm not that young Kathy, LOL am 45 now... I've been around for a bit... lol

yeah ALOT of GREAT, Talented people out there, OLDSCHOOL and NEWSCHOOL, but nothing like the traditional country or 70's/80's Country in my book... and of course the "pioneers" who started it ALL...

    (:

  • Steel guitar is about 70% of the reason I listen to C&W at all. There's something about it...it's so haunting and mysterious..

  • I TOTALLY agree, although I do love Country music, Period. And I do like some songs that don't incorporate the steel guitar into them, however, I do love the steel and would love to hear "MORE" of it in today's Country music. Also, have you ever checked out: Junior Brown, he plays the "guit steel" and I "think" he invented it, check him out, he is AWESOME! I love his stuff, odd, eclectic, but I love it! He ROCKS!

  • i would love to hear george strait sing this tune he would up beat it a little

  • good idea, I agree...

  • thanks man you can up it a lil ya know what iam talking about

  • what do u mean hon? sorry not following? lol

  • there is a steel guitar player on here singing this song on here good song man honky tonk

  • I've been going to therapy due to shoulder surgery and imagine my surprise when I discovered Ray Price on a machine about 6 feet from me! You never know who you'll see!

  • They don't make music like they used to....This has heart, truth, soul, oh, and talent!!! I love it and I'm only 34...

  • me 2 and im 26

  • awesome..5 stars

  • my grandfather wrote this song =)

  • What is his name?

  • really?

  • @Ben7943 yea my too:)

  • This Song Has Everything, Just Pure Gold.

  • Great job, as usual. I have been a Ray Price fan for over 50 years.

  • my mothers favorite singer. thank you ray (luv you man) & thank you flashbell for sharing :)

  • Ray Price the name tells the story, Great voice, great talent, I give him a 10. he is the best, May God Bless him and all the ones who love his music.

  • April 10th 2009, I just saw my most favorite country singer last night Mr.Ray Price here in Montreal Quebec . Never thought i'd ever get the chance to see the most talented person in country music history. At 83 he can still make hearts melt, his voice has remained the same God bless his heart. Wish i could have got to kiss his cheek for my mama who adored him and passed on his great music to me. Thanks Ray for your music and your wonderful talent.

  • THe problem with today's country is that it's not really country music...SOme of it's OK, but anything made after 88 or 89 is just not country, it's a rock-country hybrid sung by people with southern accents...there's a big difference....

  • I was a DJ from 79 to 86. I believe the change came with Garth Brooks' Thunder Rolls. I miss real country music !

  • No, it was when he began swinging on ropes and said hank Williams Sr was a drunk who could not sing!

  • ..to flashbell; didn't know garth said that. r u sure? where & when?

nothin' seems to surprise me much, anymore...

  • @rundawgrun

The death of real country music happened in the mid 70's...with the Outlaw music

    and the Highway Men

  • @cheecher971 Your exactly right...why not just call themselves rock musicians.

  • @cheecher971 So VERY TRUE,and it is so sad,George Strait is still pretty C

    ountry..

  • @cheecher971 Finally, Finally, finally..... Somebody GETS IT....... That thing you said about rock songs with a southern accent is spot on.... IE... Lady Antibellem PUKE...!!!! I hope this goes to the top of the list, 'cause I got a million things to say about Ray Price. Later.....

  • Ray price at his honky tonk best. The best country singer of all time.

  • The again, there won't ever be another Ray Price.

  • Why can't Country music sound this good anymore? Today's music is nothing but GLITZ and "MONEY"....there is NO HEART in the Music today like there used to be.

  • Comment removed

  • Ray has one of the most wonderful voices I've ever heard. He still sounds as great today as he was the first time I heard him years ago. I don't care for the lyrics (don't want to think about "other woman" but I love the music and his style. Not long ago I saw a video of him with his band with all his fiddle players and the sound with them all is fantastic. My favorite is "For The Good Times". Thanks so much for posting this goodie. - Paula

  • They were the boss, not kids. but I love him for that. Look what lovely memories I have.
