  • damn this was beatiful idd

  • Beautiful (:

  • well done man very beautiful

  • it looks kinda like a brass colored clarinet but sounds sooooo much better

  • @trujilbt *facepalm....a brass clarinet? really? sopranos are soooo much sexier than clarinets, no offense to any clarinet players out there of course

  • @kilroywashere68 facepalm? do you watch the ShayTards lol, any way i would have to agree with you the clarinet section in my band sounds much like squidward, and is also my least favorite instrument

  • @trujilbt i wouldn't go so far as to say it's my least favorite instrument, because it can be really quite beautiful, but the soprano sax is hands down the sexiest instrument out there

  • I LOVE THIS!!!

  • I love a soaring soprano sax!

  • Beautiful sound.

  • What was the note at 3: 05 ?

  • awful ! smooth jazz... Couldn't hear for just 30 seconds... If u like soprano sax, check out Steve Lacy, Trane, Wayne Shorter or Dave Liebman...

  • @freddiefreejazzify That's people of the past... You can't hear them in person anymore... Besides they are the greatest jazz players in the history of jazz.... There are plenty of good players (Such as the one in this video) in modern world, but no one today is as good as people you mentioned. That doesn't make ALL the modern jazz musicsians bad. If you deny what I said above, then you are also admitting that you are an awful jazz musician because you live in this world in this era.

  • @boffyrox02 .. You make me laugh...Lieb and Shorter are musicians of the past??? You must be kidding... They're still alive! And if Steve Lacy is a musician of the past (he died seven years ago) his music was much in advance of his time.... What he played is over way more interesting than most today's musicians... Check out The Window (with Jean Jacques Avenel and Oliver Johnson) or his duets with Mal Waldron... John Surman, Steve Wilson and Chris Potter are also wonderful soprano sax players...

  • @freddiefreejazzify Evan Parker and Louis Sclavis as well....

  • @boffyrox02 Besides, it's not a question of being good or bad... It's a question of what they are telling us... Have a nice day.

  • check out my sax cover of moves like jagger!

  • I'm playing it in alto sax with 5 sharps in B major, so the music original tone is in D major. What is the best for alto and soprano?

  • Comment removed

  • superbe

  • I remember once we were playing this and it was before i had my soprano so they asked me to do the solo on the bari sax and i did alot better then i thought i would and i saw the look on my band directors face and he started crying and i noticed by the end the majority of the audience was crying and i was like am i really that good...and now i'm a sax major and a director myself that day changed my life forever now i revolve around the beautiful art of music.

  • very pretty but i want some dirty jazz

  • God, it's so sexy. I love soprano sax.

  • Prabems ! Tocou com a Alma pois vida na melodia otima interpletação !

    Uma Aula de Sopro.

  • This was absolutely awesome.

  • Wow!!! I love the sound of the sax and don't mind looking at Patrick either....

  • this was my on-hold music and it was so nice for a change i looked it up :D

  • why is it that anyone who plays soprano sax plays the same music as kenny g

  • I play this solo on alto saxophone. I really like to play it. But sounds great on soprano too! I'm gonna try it (I play both alto and soprano, and also tenor in a few weeks)

  • I love the sound of the soprano saxophone !!

  • seven people dont know what love is...

  • i would've liked a seat. standing and blowing is hard to do at the same time. your mom.

  • Can I ask you that selmer you use?

  • amazing !! very talented ...i play the sax myself i would do anything to get the notes on this version .....!!!

  • check out some of my origianls on my acount

  • i play the oboe and im gonna learn to play soprano sax , is this a good transition? im still gonna play oboe though and saprano sax

  • Do you have any cd's out for purchase? Excellent talent and sound! What is the model of your soprano saxaphone? I'm searching for a good soprano sax.

  • I always like coming back to listen to this, it's really good music! I love the tone of your sax.

  • Very Good tonal signature or "timbre" as we speak at Brazil. Congratulations to You and excuse if I´m using wrong words.

  • Wat geweldig mooi!!

  • Muy linda version. el soprano genera mucho sentimiento!!! la voy a estudiar para tocarla con el mio, Gracias.

  • i love this instrument

  • Something Holland should be proud of!

  • Does any1 know what key this song starts in b4 key changes?

  • E flat. there is no key change. theme and solo both in E flat.

    (F for soprano saxophone)

  • @haribootje if im not wrong the key is F(with B flat) the original one is on E(F,C,G,D Sharps)

  • I've run across that francois louis ligature in a catalog and wondered if it was any good. I'm tempted to try it now. There are just so many variables that affect the tone on a sax.

  • Hulde Patrick!!

  • Simply amazing. I've played alto for awhile and picked up soprano about a year ago. it's so hard!! Great tone, so good.

  • Amazing!!!! sweet timbre! P.S: Albert Einstein in the Keyboard? rsrs...

  • toca muito,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • sweet....smooth! hairy booty?? LOL!

  • Really Amazing..!!

    You Do It Patrick

  • May I know what is your setup for the soprano sax? The mouthpiece and lig...by the way, you sound great on it.

  • i'm playing a yanagisawa S9930 sterling silver soprano with a selmer 'f' mouthpiece. i'm using the francois louis ultimate ligature with rico jazz select 3M reeds.

  • What is the model of selmer 'f' mouthpiece you use?

    Great Sound!!

  • thnx! selmer 'f' is the model (SA serie)...

  • Thanks for your reply but I've never seen selmer mouthpiece in 'f' model.

Today, Selmer soprano hard rubber mouthpiece in market is S80, S90, Super Session and Luter (very rare).

So I think 'f' is tip openning size not model.

About SA, Do you mean Super Action? It is sax model not mouthpiece model.

I apologise you, if I'm wrong.

I really want to know about your piece because I'm looking for Sound like you from my Yani s992.

    Thanks

  • you are right!

the type is S80 and the tipsize is 'f'

ligature is Francois Louis ultimate, and i use rico jazz select reeds (3medium)

  • Thanks, Patrick!!

  • Great sound :D

  • great song wow good job man sound great....

  • I play this on Soprano and it always brings tears to the audience - I even made my teachers cry at a school concert :)

  • vere Emozioni!

  • Felicitaciones Patrick Curfs!!!!! exelente sonido excellent sonud!!!!!

  • ohhh, i see the key,, its like on what i do on alto sax,, love it,, i will download this video,, whoa... :D

    have to buy soprano sax,,

    next month,,.

  • I love this track. It works so well on Sop. This guy has a beautiful tone!!! Love it! I will be uploading my own version of this soon. Look out for it.

  • so take a look at me now

cause there just an empty space

    and crying back to me

    agaisnt all odds

  • Yamaha makes an excellent soprano sax. It responds well and sounds terrific.

  • This is such a great track for soprano sax. I'm going to record it on my sop. Look out for a video response.

  • I'm a clarinet player and I just inherited a soprano sax, i think it's a beatuiful instrument and it will be nice to play a more unusal instrument. I hope I can do it justice.

  • Is it hard to play a soprano sax?

I used to play the trumpet back in highschool. Sax looks like a nice hobby to pick up. Sounds so sexy!

  • yeah,,sound sexy,,

its not if your track is on sax.. :D

  • well played great job

  • Okay it won't let me post the link but it basically says 'New Melodic Straight soprano saxophone' and what i wanted to know is if all soprano saxes are 'melodic' or not.

This probably isn't a very good quality sax but hopefully it would do for a beginner like myself.

  • I was looking at this possibly to buy (see link in below comment) and was wondering if anyone could tell me if 'melodic' meant the sax was different from the type normally used. Sorry to be constantly pesturing you all. Thanks.

  • I'm sorry to sound sort of 'stupid' but could anyone tell me if there's any difference except appearence between a straight and curved soprano sax. I am considering taking it up because it is the most beautiful sounding instrument in my opinion and i was wondering which type (straight or curved) would i be best to buy.

    Thanks.

  • In my opinion the straight works and sounds better. Make sure you talk to a sax professional before you buy. These are VERY finicky instruments and just because it is new from a company doesn't mean it will work well. Good Luck!

  • Thanks very much for the info. The only problem is that i don't think i'll be talkign to a professional any time soon because i don't know anyone who actually plays it and i will probably be getting it in a week or two. If anyone has any experience or thinks they could help me, please do. It would be a great help.

    Thanks.

  • the biggest advantage of a straight soprano is the pitch. curved sopranos, especially the cheaper ones, are mostly more out of tune than straight sopranos. And are therefore more difficult to pitch. The sound is almost the same for the audience. For the player the sound seems different, but that is because the is coming to you from a diffent angle. succes with your new soprano. gr Patrick Curfs

  • Thank you soo much. I think i'm going to get a straight one because of what you said mainly but also because for some reason i just seem to want a straight one more lol.

I am really excited now because i keep watching videos and just thinking 'maybe i could be that good some day' and who knows, maybe i will haha

    Thanks again, RMcG

  • I suppose you mean the Alto Sax with the curved one, and this Soprano Sax with the straight one. Of course there's a huge difference. The sound of a Soprano is much higher in sound, and in my opinion much more beautiful. I play the Alto Saxophone. I've played Soprano Sax once, and it's much harder to play. To have a beautiful sound, it takes years.

  • And by the way, if you buy a saxophone, you'd better buy a Selmer: it's more expensive, but the sound is a thousand times better.

  • selmer is not better than any other brand. Why is selmer a top brand? its because they have very many legendary vintage horns from way back when but they are losing their market. why? because their horns costs double their worth. selmer is part of the 'big four' (selmer, yamaha, yanagisawa, keilwerth) but is not better than any other. depends on the player. usually USA vintage horns are the best for the best price like conn and martin. their cheap just cause they are USA even tho they are better

  • i don't really agree with this. selmer saxophones have a very high quality. the thing is that the extra quality of these saxophones can be found in very small details which are out of reach of the average amateur player. any pro player will acknowledge this. so, to the most amateur players it won't make a difference if they play a middle-class yamaha or a selmer, because they don't have the skills to use the extra quality of the selmer.

  • ahhhh good answer!!! I have a Selmer Sax, and yes it's a very good sax indeed!! but also depend on the player, the mouthpiece, the reeds, and of course the experience is so vital!!!! and the talent as well

  • I have to agree completely. I play Tenor Sax, and, as a more experienced player, I immediately noticed the difference when I finally bought a professional model. The sound quality was much better. It was also much easier to play, especially in piano and pianissimo.

  • i understand the value of a PRO sax but not a selmer specifically. selmer is a louis vuitton and brands like conn are the gucci. they are both of the same quality, its just up to preference. but so many wealthy beginners choose selmer, why? its the name. they were legends with the mark 6. i dont even consider them close to yanagisawa in current saxes. they have lost their soul. selmer isnt worth the cost. period. cheapest is a cigar cutter at $2300 >than the most expensive conn

  • No i mean a straight soprano and a curved soprano. I was asking what the difference was. Thanks for replying anyway though. Its always good to know that the people of youtube care.

  • if you need any advice about different brands and types of sopranos, just let me know. i would advice you to look for a yamaha or yanagisawa soprano. these are cheaper than selmer, easier to play and of a very high constant quality. especially yanagisawa makes very good sopranos. on this movie i'm playing a sterling silver yanagisawa. succes

  • yanagisawa has by far the best sopranos period. no arguement

  • Unfortunately my budget is quite low so I have been looking at a Kohlert 470 which is priced at $399. The customer reviews on the website seem very positive but on other websites, people have given it negative feedback. I dont want to rush into buying one and then regret it so i'm trying to get as many viewpoints as i can. If anyone has any experience with this model or any advice at all, that'd be fantastic. Thanks for all the help and advice you've given me so far, it's really helped, RMcG

  • they are essentially the same. they curved feels a little better because it have an easier to hold shape since you dont use a neck strap on either. the curved has more of an edgy sound. the straight is better for classical and soothing pieces like this one

  • I just bought a selmer soprano (80 SII). It's a gorgeous instrument. I used to play alto years back, but wanted to try soprano now. I tried a yangisawa, but the selmer felt much more solid imo. Tone is so individual it's useless to argue. Try it, play it, buy it if you like it. It's pointless to argue here.. I like the setup in this video btw.. :D

  • you get used to playing it. not that hard. just hard at the start because it requires for control and detail in the embrochure

  • amazingly performed!!

such a great talent u have, made me cry while listening! best cover of the song so far.

  • Sonzeira.

  • that guy seems almost die playing! 'couse he is without brief!!!

And he seems make so much pression on mouthpiece!! his face is telling it to me!

I play soprano sax too! and I don't need to make that "face" to play! but...

We are just concerning about the music, not the beauty of player!

but he maked an excelent job! It I can't disagree!

Sorry about the poor english!!! I'm learning it yet!

    Thanks"

  • 4 stars!

  • Dear Raphasax, I can't agree with you. To mee it seems that Patric Curf plays in a relaxed way. I have seen Patrick playing many times in his (former?) role as the lead-sax player in the orchestra of the neth. airforce. But, you're a saxplayer yourself, I'm just a happy listener. All the best.

  • The tone is thin sounding, but it may just be the sound of the video. I do love the song though, and I adore playing soprano. It's too bad I don't get to do it often.

  • very good

  • Beautiful, excellent, so expressive, dear est Patrick.

    I loved it.

    Favourited it.

Rated it. All the stars from heaven.

    Greetings, to all,

    Antoinette

  • my only advice... go wireless! you'll love the freedom that the wireless mic will give you to engage with your audience more. other than that, great job!

  • I want to learn how to play the sax just for this song alone!!

  • i love the sound of a soprano sax

    but prefer alto and tennor

    i play alto
