not bad with the modeling and the mapping, but the facial animation seems VERY stiff... i would suggest pulling more of the surrounding verticies to simulate the face stretching as you move the mouth
Thanks, as Ive said before to others it was a modelling assignment the the facial animation was done in a few hours just to prove that the face would deform properly :)
really? thats cool i also have 3d studio max (2009) well it says "9" so im guessing it means 2009 lol, but i wish i could practice on there, unfortunetly i only have a pentium 3 processor so it dosnt work correctly, but my brothers comming over today to help me put in a pentium 4, and another motherbboard, oh and some ram too, so when i get it up and running ill send you some of my work if you want, it wont take long cuz im a quick learner at this stuff, but dude, nice vid
i think the textures were perfect.. but you need to work more on your morph targets expecially the O shape of the mouth it's bit too stretched around the mouth looks bit weird... rest are good.. good job
90% of the production time was spent on modelling and texture. The Morph targets were done in 3-4 hour and are qute weak, we just to prove the edge loops were in the right places to properly deform the model for animation so I didnt waste too much time on it.
Yeap your correct they shouldnt move, however the teeth are linked to the bones of the head with an IK Solver which was the only way to keep them in the correct position. Sadly this meant they moved along with the mouth movements.
ah, I see.. I nkow I'll learn more about that stuff later on, I resently am only learning about reactors for gravity and stuff, I don't know how to assign bones and stuff yet though.. but ya, models fantastic though.. its really well done!
I'm afraid there is no 1 tutorial that will show you everything about animation in 3D Studio Max. Its a very advanced subject one that takes years of experience and testing, this type of 'animation' that I did with the face is known as 'morph target' animation where you create multiple copys of the model and use a morph modifier to morph the different facial animations onto the face.
Thanks I appreciate your comments :) I plan to do some more work over summer to improve my skills in specific areas. I will probably upload the results.
@Insideviewanimator You're an idiot. :)

Does the terrible music help you be creative? Cause when I hear it it makes me want to damage my computer or get away from it .
surfmcgoogler 2 years ago
To be honest if all people can comment about is the music that youtube made me audioswap... what the fuck is the point in commenting?
Constructive critism I welcome but comments like 'music sucks'... isnt really needed.
Sabaoth11 2 years ago 7
true, but it's in his freedom, as it is in yours to turn of the audio and limit yourself to watch the images only...

I use 3D Studio Max, version 7 was used to create this head. I have now upgraded to 3D Studio Max 2009.

Thanks and just for your information 3ds 9 is actually one version below 2009. So you may want to upgrade :)

how much is it to upgrade, and where can i upgrade it?, thanks

You go to Autodesk's website and pay £3000+ for it. :)
Alternatively you could go to University like my self and get a student license.

um, I'm rather new to animating, but should'nt you follow the given rules, for example, it looks like its teeth are moving, 'not static'.
