  • fake this is great...funky chilly groovy shit! bravo!

  • @JohnnyTiberin1 - Its called "Pick Hits"

  • Name of the song?

  • +9000

  • I know Sco needed to extend himself, but why did he ever move on and away from this band? Big cred to him for assembling this group for the 4 or 5 years they tore shit up. This song represents so clearl how they ripped it up and spit it out in the 80's. Great band!!

  • yes its cool , cool sound and i like cool jazz

  • We expect Sco to be Sco...but Chambers is amazing....

  • yo this is sooo funky..dennis chambers is great!

  • is this very good!!! outside the house

  • Seen this lineup at Newport Jazz Festival in 86 along w/ Miles Davis! John Scofield is a SICK player!

  • its a 335 jim but not as we know it.

  • perfect!!!

  • its only jhon scofield,,,,,but i like it,,,

  • 0:34

  • I did learned it long time ago, great :)

  • He rocks. He jazzes. Long live Sco!

  • Saw this band at the Colchester Arts Center.....

  • While Sco is the man, Chambers is the most powerful drummer I have heard....

  • absolutely fantastic

  • minkia !

  • what a great song! does anyone knows its name?

  • @CrazyHumano Yep, it's called Pick Hits, from the album of the same name. However, check out the 'Pick Hits Live' album as this is even better. It was recorded in Japan and the Chanbers/Grainger rhythm section is red hot.

  • @zenodotus thanks man, I'll check it out.

  • Wow!!! amazing! Such a cool sound!

  • pretty good fusion goin on here

  • Great Great !! The Perfection of Groove!!!

    cc

  • pretty fly for a white guy... also is anyone else annoyed by the ridiculous sounding electric piano?

  • whats the name of this tune?

  • @zappa3837 -Pick Hits

  • @photorams65 thanks man. I appreciate it

  • big fatt ass hole in the second measure of the bass line.....makin' that shit soooo fonkee...

  • Great song, great performance!

  • @ TadRapidly - I remember going to a fusion night in Toronto year ago, I went to go see a couple of the other acts. Scofeild had just released Blue Matter, I knew who he was but I wasn't going to the show because of him. When the Blue Matter group got up on stage I remember being absolutely floored, along with the rest of the crowd, with Dennis Chambers. Dennis didn't only steal the show, he stole the entire night, it was an unforgettable experience

  • holy jizzboobs...

  • John is amazing!!

  • Play Sco loud over the news - works for me. ...the coolest guy with no hair.

  • GOD take his breakfast with this music

  • @GODCORRUPTED"hell" yeah. Or shoul I say Heaven Yeah?

  • You'll find it on Pick Hits Live, enjoy. The whole album is amazing.

  • wowoowowoow!

PLEASE does this song have a name??

Or is there an ALBUM on which I can find it???

    please help me!

  • wow mann! This is heavy... i love this stuff, drums and bass i's rocking and the chords and solos take me to the deepest part of the divine Universe!

  • the opening groove sounds a lot like mike clark and paul jackson on "actual proof" with herbie hancock

  • 0:35 - 0:43........... i cant understand the music time........ very very hard backbeat

  • woooooow ur man are a great listener ! damn that shows how chambers is great !

  • im a drummer so............ :D

  • ohh ! yeah i understand now ! :D

  • Lol! you cant understand it because thats not what the music sounds like, that was a cut from the original music, what you ear is a piece of two beats one over each other.

  • monsters.....

  • 100%... Amazing songwriting.

  • this even better than te studio version

  • i love how he just floats around the fretboard

  • Perfect Sco.

  • This is awesome. Porn Jazz I call it!!!

  • Yep, songs like this and "The Nag" are orgasmic, no doubt about that...Jimi Hendrix does the same to me (esp. Machine Gun).

  • Ooooooooh!! I just love this band! They really know how to kick arse!

Dennis Chambers must be one of the meanest motherfucker drummers that are out there! I'm glad I don't live next door to him!!

  • @RedHoodie1 Afraid of having to ask him to stop playing? I don't think I'd ever want him to! ;)

  • @RedHoodie1 On the other hand, I might WANT to live next to him...

  • i fucken love this era for Sco. ARGH! ITS TOO AWESOME

  • Does anyone know if that's just really short delay that gives him that sound during his solos or is it a filter? I've been playing around with delay, but i have a feelng its some sort of envelope filter. thanks

  • a slight chorusing...

  • im pretty sure its a chorus?

  • This tune always takes me straight back to my honours year at university, I listened to sco so hard that year but this tune was the one that used to make me feel happiest. Most jazz made me want to study and analyze, but not this, it's just great music. Totally dated in it's sound but so so so good!

I love that sco is made to read the charts of his own tunes for the video too.

  • I want that guitar

  • one of my first VIDEOS [as in VHS].... after this i either have to dust off the video tape & VCR or get modernized and buy the DVD. so good!

    thanks!

  • Scofield is one of the best. His style is so unique and always intresting.

  • Great!!!"Pick Hits" from "Electric Outlet"

  • Ah there's Sco!!

  • bien 10

  • weather channel.

  • i tried to dance to this and I broke 4 bones.

  • Hahaha, so true ;) Honestly Dennis Chambers + John Scofield = Too amazing for mortal ears

  • @TadRapidly hahahahahahahahahahahaha you are kidding me!!! right??

  • @doom666 i saw scofield with chambers years ago and chambers stole the show outright. I think scofield was actually getting pissed.

  • @TadRapidly And I loved every damn one!!!!

  • @TadRapidly Is that saying something about the rhythm or your dancing skills?

  • @NicolasCaes At 48 years old its prolly my frail bones. :o)

  • This Video Turned Me Out I was 14 when saw it. I didnt go outside for months!!!!!

  • This is great stuff. Did Sco ever have hair on top of his head?

  • does anybody know the name of this song...its simply amazing! john scofield band is the best jazz-funk-rock- fusion ever!

  • "pick hits" is the name of the song

  • I thInk its So you Say... IM not 100% sure though.

  • It's definitely Pick Hits.

  • Simply cool.

  • Great tune. I've had this on VHS for years but don't have a VCR anymore lol. I'm so glad to have found it posted here.

  • i've heard the original with steve jordan on drums but dennis plays this song better. no disrespect 2 steve.

  • Yes I had some version and this is almost played the same..but now with vision and indeed great sound.

They're absolute musical predator-monsters, all disguised in another look:)

  • sick shit

  • Maybe it is interesting for those who think this band or John Scofield in particular is just so-so to play the Loud Jazz CD and compare it with this live (well...almost) rendition. You will notice that most of this music is written and -at least in my case- this leaves me with nothing but humble admiration.

  • I agree,it was a figure of speech, but when you see even non-jazz listeners being mesmerized by Mclaughlin or any other annoyingly technical but not so musical player, and yet be bored by Scofield or Marcul Miller, then one starts to wonder, you know...I think there is definitely a rift btw music consumers and show consumers...I wouldn't care less about how fast someone is playing, I always listen to the music...

  • i advise everybody all the retarted comments will b deleted anyway cheers and enjoy

  • I love Scofield, and of course you're entitled to your opinion,it's a matter of taste, but what bugs me about your comment is that you say he's overrated.I hardly know any die-hard Scofield fans (except me and maybe 10 other people) and as for his notoriety...give me a break, compared to someone like John McLaughlin,Scofield is an unknown. He's rather underrated,as far as I'm concerned.

  • And Much more unique, in my opinion.

  • dixxjamm, you and maybe 10 other people are not an indicator of Scolfild's popularity

  • I saw John and Dennis in Santa Barbara years ago. I'm sure Scofield is gettin tired of hearing this but Chambers stole the show! The guy is jaw-dropping measure after measure. (John is good too).

  • super!

  • Gary makes smell farts--it's that funky!
