  • I used to cram into the Wise Owl (now called My Sons Place) on Wyse Road every Saturday to watch Dutchie. Afterwards we'd go up the road to the Matador and once we got thrown out of there we'd stagger across the road to the House of Mei Mei and load the barf chambers.

    Good times. Poor Dutchie :(

  • My Dutchie story - I met a guy in Dartmouth, NS, once who showed me his new electric guitar (I recall it was a Richenbacker wanna-be). Anyway, I asked him where he had bought it and he said "Oh, I didn't buy it, I won it off Dutchie Mason in a poker game.

he probably wouldn't have remembered my name, but i've had the priviledge to meet the man at least 30 times upstairs above the brunswick house, at albert's hall.

just one of the treats he gave us was, oh about 30 years ago, he brought out this blind 15 year old kid during the second set at albert's hall, and let him play the rest of the show. this blind kid played his guitar on his lap. yes sir it was none other than jeff healey.
