  • Mavrick! We're in his jetwash!

Goose, calm down, Grumman engineers already have a stall procedure

Mavrick! We're in a Hollywood production!

    Oh shi.....

  • Incredible how many others agree that today's documentaries are watered-down crap.

BBC Horizon was once a fascinating programme - today it is left-wing orientated tutt designed for optimal indoctrination of young minds and stupid (to unthink) people.

    There's very little informative content

    There's very little political balance

There's very little minds being corrupted.

  • sooo, how did the guy die?

  • The mother of all Interceptors there is :D i salute the F14 especailly those of the Jolly rodgers insignia :D :) hardy Harrr harrr FOX ONE!!!!

  • @merangkillbots VF-103 Jolly Rogers most badass Tomcatters ever.

  • @FutureMarine1775USA VF84 Jolly Rogers >>>>>>>> IMO. The best sexiest ever.

  • sorry.. Tom cruise has ruined this plane for me..

  • @knowpassword Okay so a guy ruined a plane for you! MY GOD he never even flew one.

  • So how exactly did Bill Miller die?

  • @b747dude They have to be careful not to actually include real information in these documentaries, otherwise we might learn something...

  • @Theriomalstrom It's the Discovery channel.....entertainment, not a military debriefing. Even this much info is more than most civilians want to know.

  • @TheBearcat222 That's what I meant. Discovery channel is watered-down crap designed to make stupid people think they're smart.

  • 05:58 Why is drag chute deployed in midair?

  • to induce a stall

  • @Paun991 Listen to the documentary?

  • I prefer the MIG 29 ;-)

  • @Harniswood Because the MIG-29 has suuuuch a stellar combat record against western fighters? ;-P

  • @1st503rdSGT ah i see what you did there.

  • @1st503rdSGT Hey, to be fair, you also have to compare the men who fly the planes. When you've got a huge budget, and go around bullying the planet, you get cash to train, and chances to fight.

  • we should have deployed those to vietnam

  • @nosirrom5

We did, but only in the closing days of the war. VF-1 and VF-2 flew some Tomcats in April 1975 as cover for the evac of U.S. forces from Saigon.

  • I don't feel any emotions looking at this vid. I only see our tax dollars wasted by the billions. What good is a world-beating jet when it can't protect our border with Mexico and it can't stop Muslims with exploding underwear over Detroit?

  • @uggati It was designed and built to fight the Cold War not Counter-Insurgency etc. Not exactly a waste of money but it never fought the Soviets like it was supposed too...

  • @TheTeej08 better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.;)

  • @fordfan25Yeah certainly. If the Soviets had invaded then these i think would have lived upto expectations.

  • @uggati

True, but I would rather have billions of tax dollar spent on a world-beating jet that cannot stop an exploding terrorist than billions spent to bail out Citigroup, AIG, Merral-Lynch.

  • the F-14 Tomcat was very reminiscient of world war 2's Grumman F-4F Wild Cat & F=8F Hell Cat.

  • only in name....so were other planes reffering to winds

  • The Navy will come to rue the passing of the long line of Grumman "Cats." Each was outstanding in its own way, from the F-6-F to the F-14

  • @CRsBeem i agree 100% but hay on the bright side the navy now has the super hornet ..... ;/

  • @fordfan25 that is not a bright side that is more of a sad day

  • @TheScrumpty sorry i was being sarcastic. Not that i think the SH is a complet POS. it does its job. but i think i modernized "super" tomcat would have done the job better. the only thing i can think of as a plus on the Sh is unless the did some major revamps to the TC the SH would prob have a better rcs. But who knows gruman may have pulled off some thing to reduce the tomcats RCS. Of course the SH is hardly stealth tech,am i right?

  • @ThunderHenshin32 in a way i think your right. big heavy and effective. very grummanish ;)
