i use infernape and the move close combat for almost all of the galactic polemon and its onehit ko and golbet it takes 2 flame wheels.. ive always beat galactic with ease this way,

Both the purugly and skuntank ganged up on you. One scenario I noticed was when your scizor was attacked with a hypnosis by the purungly, then it was hit with a flamethrower straight from the skunktank's tail(which was pretty horrible).You probably could have taken both out with a thunder from your starmie in the beginning.
