well... i have been able to so it on a trampoline b4 but after an ugly bail i was unable to do it again! then i relearned it but the same week i really failed again (i went down throught the springs in the trampoline!) and after that my body wont do it i only fail because i'm scared of fail or something like that T.T
plz reply to this.anyone who has tips. I can't do a backflip or a frontflip but I think I would be able to if I trie but I just don't know how to over come fear, HELP!
@Taylornewton911 Find a spotter with experience, there's no way of failing then. If u still don't dare or u can't find any spotters here's what I did: do a regular cartwheel, but in a different direction: backwards. If u got that down well enough that you can really go backwards with the cartwheel, start diving into it, when u get that down u might be confident enough to attempt the backspring. If not, then just get comfortable doing the backwards dive cartwheel, and just tuck your legs mid-air
You will land with both your feet and your hands on the ground. And you will notice how easily you rotate when u tuck. Do it a couple of times, start tucking your hands as well and land on your feet only, u'll land your first ugly slanted backflippish spastic move soon enough. Then all u need to do is jump higher, and straight back. By the time you attempt your first real backflip, you'll be more confident, cause you tried all the elements of the backflip before, just not all together.
PS, this is how I did it, I was (really) hesitant and afraid like u but I got over it this way and learned it faster than I had expected. My first backflip attempt was a succesful one ;). 2 Months ago.
BTW, I've had a backflip bail as well by now (I've still only thrown like 20 backflips yet since I got a backinjury and can't do jack for months sometimes) where I landed flat on my face. And it really didn't hurt cause I got used to breaking the fall/ landing on my hands by doing the cartwheels

i am just a starter like you and i am afraid to do it, im gonna start soon, but i think the best way to get over the fear is to put like a matress or two (one on the other), that way u u don't feel at scared to do it knowing u have a soft landing
how you start to training this vault....do you start on grass or what...and what you think when you trying to do it first time...and how you feel while working it.....
It's not a vault it's a flip...and I would suggest to try it somewhere in the gym on mattresses, your fear isn't that big when you know you're going to land on something soft...otherwise you can seriously kill yourself...
It was a great tutorial. but I think it should be alittle slower. it seemed like you were putting a bit to much information at once. like when it would type out descriptions, it would go really fast, break it down a bit more
This video ain't realy conforting for anybody who never did parkour... I've been doing Parkour for 3 years now and I did gymnastic for 11 years... the backflip isn't hard, but you have to have some kind of security at first.
If you fall on your head or neck when practicing a backflip, you should give up parkour, If the technique is executed correctly, theres more chance of landing on your feet then head, You are only upside down for a split second, the chances of landing on your neck is next to no chance, Esp off a wall or rail, Your basically upside down when you start the flip, then the landing is very easy to do.
no, you must practice on something soft first and after some time you will not be scared.. But first, do it with someone keeping his hand on your back, it helps a lot.
(trampoline) start with just doing a backdrop but then when u can do try doing a backflip but get rid of all thoughts in your mind just line up and go please see my backflip tutorial vid =Titus and alecs backflip tutorial.
i remember watching this 2 months back i could not even think about doing backflips outside(without trampoline) but now i can do it flat ground :) but cool tuto dude
lol wen i tried a backflip off ground no experience i hit my neck and kneeded my self into the lip.. it started bleeding but all gud now and iv almost mastered a backflip
nice tut dude other tuts kept confusing me because they all say jump straight up... wen u don't u jump up and a lil back also i learnin it on the floor and i havin a lil trouble rotatin any advice?
if its off something and your just starting out its better to jump back (otherwise u will just go up and land awkward like on the thing you are jumping off). When doing it flat off the ground you should really be aiming to go forwards (that way you wont go anywhere). Rotating is just all about the tuck. Make sure you are tightly closed (without knocking your knee into your face) and your legs kick back fast. Its best to practice any changes into your techniques in a safe environment
basically i was filming this with a friend, and when i freerun i listen to music. But i couldn't hear him wit it in, so i'd put it in just before and after a move
my little fourteen year old sister can do that!!! She learned from you!!! And she's not scared like the rest of you wussy!!! She masterd it the first time. she did off our little shied we have in our backyard. she was't even scared nope i even pushed her!!! so stop being wussys everyone!
freerunning usually consists of more flips(tricking) parkour is more about mastering your enviornment, and it usually has more vaults, but a little of everything
same :D landed on neck/head and back few times. all gud. i just bounced back up. u may feel funny for like 30secs or so. but w.e.! ish fun doing fail flips, cuz eventually ull know what ur doing wrong and soon be able to do backflips on ur own. and if u dunt got da guts. i suggest u try standing backflips 1st. cuz u wont receive so much force pushing down on u when u collapse.
just work on throwing your legs up to your chest so just try jumping strait up and tucking if you still have trouble try jumping and just throwing one knee up (like a high skip)
watch my video..the flips at sea..and tell me if its gonna be easy for me to do a backflip..coz i can do it to the sea..and on a trampolinie..but on concrete..im a bit ....i dont get the appropriate determination =(
love trampoline) ... so in theory i am prepared... just a couple advices if u can pls... thx a lot... oh and btw the "DON'T TRY IT ALONE" kinda scared me ... that means just in case u need for somebody to call 911 huh... =) have a good day... it was too long for 1 comment :P
really it is easy...once you do one or two you'll wonder what you were scared about. You have already hit the problem right away - panic, just don't panic or get scared, think about the motions, if you can backflip correctly on a trampoline find some sand, a slight drop and do it (it may take some time, but just pump yourself up, don't fear, don't panic, and just use your arms, legs, body, everything just like you are on your tramp). Ye, make sure you have someone there...just in case ;)
if i fail (tho even on trampoline when u land on your head its unpleasant )... and i rly want to try it off the trampoline but i think im afraid... i saw people try doing it for the first time and its like they got scared in the middle of it just when they were upside down and landed on theyr neck ... i would like to ask you some good advice i rly want to try it and i know that is best to try flip more than less... i know why is that (i
Hey. Cool u make it sound so easy... When i am on trampoline i do frontflips backflips and even try double backflips ( sometimes i land too ) and its sooooo easy... maybe because i know that it doesent hurt that much
Im just gonna say one thing, its a very VERY bad idea to start out doing backflips like this if you've never tried one before: IF its your first time you should:
1) Try it on a trampoline before attempting it on ground, just the rotation can be VERY scary.
2) Never try it alone, have someone there with you, incase you hurt yourself, even better if he/she knows how to spot.
3) a small level difference in the ground would be to prefer, like 10-20cm when learning, to high will cause confusion
this was a quite old edit, if i make a new one it would say to do on trampoline 1st (although not essencial), i think i said never to do it alone, but if not then yes, don't do it alone, but i disagree with the height thing, about 1 or 2 feet is fine, 10-20cm might be a little low when 1st starting...
Its acually enough with 20cm, ive taught alot of my friends how to do a backflip, and ive tried various of heights, and around 20cm seems the best height, because it helps them get around, since most beginners dont push up enough with their legs.. and yes, you did cover the "not alone" part, missed that :P, and also one more thing, backflipping into sant is a good way to practise, you get rid of some fear and its not as hard if you fail.
Most of my friends got more scared ones they got up on a higher platform, and the 20cm gives them that extra lift they need when they learn, but it doesnt help them so much that they dont use their legs...
GOOD QUESTION..! I CAN DO ONE ON BED LITERALY W/ NO JUMP but it dose kinda bounce you anways u no waht i mean?. BUT IT CREEPS ME OUT THAY PEEPS SAY TO PUL UR HANDS UP.. IF KEEP THEM DOWN THEN TUCK,AM IGONNA HVE A PROBLEM DOING IT ON GROUND IF IDONT LEARN TO PULL THEM UP ABOUT MY HEAD UNTIL THEY LOCK?
yes, the 'peeps' are right, the hands being pulled back adds momentium, and momentium is what you need ALOT of if you want to do a back flip on the ground...
You will be unable to do a backflip standing on the ground with no hand movement at all...but they don't need to lock, watch in my video, they go up with the jump just until they can;t go any ferther...and then come down, creating a block. I would try of a hight to begin with, the bed is deceptive...the springs help
first... backflip. is not parkour, and is not freerunnig.. backflip is, a gymnastic trick, or street stunts... freerunning is parkour and freerunning mix... bye ;)
Did i ever say this was parkour? I even say in the 1st slide, just after the title as point number 1...''This is not parkour, this is freerunning'' and y do you think that it is not freeruning...?...
tou are so stupid I think... I corroborate that wasn't parkour, anf, is no freerunning, is a bad fucking backflip... is very easy do a backflip like that, just try to do backflip in grass, without tall things... and I don`t think is not freerinning... is not!! freerunning is parkour and street stunts mix.. if you don't know... shut up... see my videos and look street stunts
lol man, calm yourself down...and use proper english its 'i think that you are so stupid...''...lol and so...you have a very weak argument, your main reason that it is not freerunning is that it is easy? shh...get some real reasons then talk to me...also i did watch your vids and all your moves are sooo flawed...your backflip is open when it should be tight and tucked, your front flip doesn't use any blocking and your side flips have no vertical movement...streetstunts is parkour...
haha, no i will not shut up, man, you are like all the other eliteists out there, shh your mouth, you know fuck all, and freerunning is streetstunts. Also i do know, i know more than you, i give reasons not elitest statements...
man i'm sorry but be quiet...i watched your video...i have done gymnastics for 11 years, i am a coach, i know when someone is doing things wrong...you are doing all your moves wrong...not just some of them, ALL of them...i don't want to do it with you because your lack of tecnique may rub off on me...
You need to feel it, there is not real right time, but earlyer rather than later, it really depends - try and wait a few moments and then do it (and by moments i mean almost immideatly)
ok this argument should have ended here. in your first comment you say a backflip is part of street stunts. and right here you say freerunning is parkour mixed with street sunts. therefore, a backflip is freerunning. game over. you lose. thanks for playing.
dude, great video! you actually tuck instead of just throwing yourself backwards like all the other fags who think they can freerun! also a really good break down of the move! i would freerun with you anytime!
that was a very good tutorial thanks man...i can do backflips already...im just exploring diferent techniques you did a good job dude...i also found that doing them at the bach off sand dunes helps with the fear as well... :P i havent taken a gymnastics class in my life tho so yea :P
i have done a front flip one, and i did have gymnastic esxperiance, but you don't have it have it. Its possible but takes more guts and it a tad harder
I have well now i know how to do a front flip i land really well but with my knees bent but i can do that on a matt on the grass i'm just scarred on the grass without a mat any pointers on how not to be scarred because I really want to do parkour or free running looks so fun
just have a friend spot you on the back flip on the grass, and have your friend just help you out a lot out first then have him not do it as much each time and you should get it like I did,I have a vid if you want to see mine.
you just have to go for it, if you can land on a mat with your legs bent...try doing it down a hill, so you run up / then flip so you have longer to land \...then when you know what your doing slowly decrease the gradient
don't go to high or jump from high onto concreate becuase i miss placed my hands on a 4 meter jump onto concreate before and ended up breaking my thumb, so do make sure you have mastered your rolling technique so you can do it perfect everytime without thinking before going too high, becuase i tell you now, failing hurts, alot.
You meant that you need to tuck tight, using your arms to hold yourself tight to be succesfull from ground level, like for the dbf if you are doing it from a high level or diving boards ect?
ur video says do it on grass then on concrete but ive been learning to do front flips off a wall onto the beach would i still be able to backflip off tht onto sand if i stood on the wall or is tht nt wise
lol, actually you're ahead you have the motion sorted and you have sand. What you've been doing is a wall flip which is a little different but almost the same. I say give it a go, but its up to you if you can/want to but if you can wall flip you should have the courage and ability
yer, thats fine (although make sure the table is solid and can take the weight of you jumping off), after that move onto sand, then grass and slowly lower the heights you jump off
good vid m8 nd btw to fishfatfishfat i dont think u should have had to land on your neck to learn to backflip, i aint actually learned it 100% yet but wat im doin atm is placing 2 matresses down and land on my knees--wen i think i can land on my feet ill do it lol
Its a good tutorial, but you should never learn backs from height - it teaches you to jump backwards rather than upards. Learn backs on flat ground. This will teach you perfect technique and how to get a high backtuck. Once you have them on flat you will be able to do them from height.
but then ur stuck with the usual problem of that normal ppl cant do standing back tucks...i never have and i've been doing gym 12 years (i problably could but am to scared to find out). Backwards or upwards it still trains the backflipping muscles. You do it from height and then move slowly down as you aptitude and technique get better. However i do see your point and am not sure (apart from just doing it standing which is no easy task). Personally i think from a slight height onto a mat is best
I found it better to learn first on flat. I got an experienced mate to spot me, and developed my backtuck until it was really high - I can flip at around 5 and a half foot now. After this, there is no fear at doing it from height, as you know you will easily make the rotation. Anyway, if you're doing backflip tricks from height these days, it has to be something sick like gainer moves, back twists or back whips and layouts
ok, well u had an exsrienced spotter, some ppl dnt have that. And yer the increase of twists and whips has made the flip from height pointless :p however i still stick by it as a learning method if you don't have a spotter, trampoline or mat
actually i didnt have an experienced spotter, we both spent a few days taking a look at a few videos how to spot etc on youtube and other random internet sources and then just took one of my mats and gave it a try, it really isnt too hard, but yes i see where your coming from about height being useful in the backflip because theres more time to rotate, however the person should only do that if he has overcome his fear of going backwards and is now having a hard time getting enough rotation
its a good idea youtube spotting videos, i never thought of them...but i still have to stick by mid-backflip you don;t want your spotter to do something wrong coz then your really in trouble. If you get a good one like you had, great do it on the ground and learn
it that way, but i can't shake that image of some1 backflipping and there spotter just lets their back collapse. I dunno i had a fear of going backward and i had 2 find increasingly bigger objects 2 feel safe and then just went for it
spotter is the way to go with a gradual decrease in assistance (I found it pretty easy after a few back flips with a spotter and started landing them pretty soon afterwards) just get a friend or two friends and if your that scared your mattress and your set. If your a loner that offcourse could be the only problem
did u ever think u landed on your neck because you didn't have enough time to rotate? Backflips are really easy from height just as long as you kick your legs over...thats all you need however from the ground you need your arms, legs, knees and head in right place so i personally think while theres is a slightly more increased chance of a single accident when its pitted against your 'when i was learning the backflip i landed on my neck a number of times'...it just seems height is better
the main reason why i landed on my neck was because i was jumping backwards and because of my fear of going backwards not because of height, the backflip does not require much height to complete, you just need to jump up at a reasonable height, so technically jumping of the platform is making you more inclined to jump backwards when your on the ground and thus might not allow you to0 make the full rotation
which is why u move down. U don't just backflip off something 4ft high, land it, and then stand on the ground and expect to do it. You slowly move down and adjust your technique. The other thing i dnt like about normal ppl with no gymnastic exsperiance/lots of time spent watching youtubes is that they don't understand the crucial roll of arms and the like you need to do it on the ground. So they compleate it from height get over that fear of backwards things and then can work on the technique.
and to your spotter comment i would question your spotter...a random friend cant spot you very efficiantly. If you can find a trained spotter then great, however we don't all hav access to that. Also spotters can as well as help the back flip hurt it. You get used to them keeping body parts in places you wouldn't keep them, so wen u do it you are more at risk then ever. My oppion is that spoters should always be qualified and or exserianced and then also if you hav a spotter then use a gym
only problem i have to say is that since your jumping of a higher platform the chance for you to get hurt is much greater. As in when i was learning the backflip i landed on my neck a number of times, but since it was ground height didnt hurt too much (mind you it still hurt), from that height man you would seriously fuck you neck up, such as if the person chickened out and tried to look back but was already too far into the rotation. There are much more safer ways in learning the back flip man
thats still not really anything to be proud off...i dnt like the idea that 2 learn to backflip you need 2 land on your neck a few times. If it was knees i'd b happier. But i'm sorry i dnt like the idea of landing on your neck
i find it easier to have someone hold your midsection the first time through. That way, you can get the basic motion down without breaking your neck. After you know what to expect, the rest is easy...great tutorial by the way.
while having a spoter is good, they're not avalible and often lead to a false sense of being able to do it, it can be good, but proably (unless you can find a qualified one) best just to let them watch ready if something goes wrong.
well i can do backflip on trampoline easily i have made my first backflip since i was 8 yrs old. i can do it so that i just stand on trampoline and then jump backflip and i think i would succeed if i jump from the metal edge of the tramp. i think i try it :D
ive never backfliped b4 and im soo pussy to do it, should i still try it... i can't even do it on trampoline...=( but i can frontflip =) =} great vids!
they ought to, the higher you are the more rotation. They should have also practiced the technique on a trampoline or with mats/sand, so they should have the basic movemwnt down. If they wish they could go lower, but waist high or slightly above is where i wouls recomend
thx m8 that was really helpfull im know moving on to bigger and better tricks :):):):):):):):):):):):)

If you fall on your head or neck when practicing a backflip, you should give up parkour, If the technique is executed correctly, theres more chance of landing on your feet then head, You are only upside down for a split second, the chances of landing on your neck is next to no chance, Esp off a wall or rail, Your basically upside down when you start the flip, then the landing is very easy to do.

any advice on how to not be scared er nervous when/before doing it?
acazi11 2 years ago
no, you must practice on something soft first and after some time you will not be scared.. But first, do it with someone keeping his hand on your back, it helps a lot.
siwyy888 2 years ago
(trampoline) start with just doing a backdrop but then when u can do try doing a backflip but get rid of all thoughts in your mind just line up and go please see my backflip tutorial vid =Titus and alecs backflip tutorial.

nice tut dude other tuts kept confusing me because they all say jump straight up... wen u don't u jump up and a lil back also i learnin it on the floor and i havin a lil trouble rotatin any advice?
j4ckyb01 2 years ago
if its off something and your just starting out its better to jump back (otherwise u will just go up and land awkward like on the thing you are jumping off).

Parkour is the same thing as free running you retard. some people call it free running cause it's easier to understand and say.
theannoyingfly 3 years ago
You wana check that on wiki? Or search what is the difference between parkour and freerunning to google?
In case you dont i'll tell you where you went wrong
Parkour - A to B as fast as humanly possible
Freerunning - A to B however you feel like it (emphasis on looking good)
Therefore since a backflip doesn't get you from A to B as fast as possible it is Freerunning.
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
freerunning usually consists of more flips(tricking) parkour is more about mastering your enviornment, and it usually has more vaults, but a little of everything

ninoBK2008 3 years ago
really it is easy...once you do one or two you'll wonder what you were scared about. Ye, make sure you have someone there...just in case ;)

ninoBK2008 3 years ago
Hey. Cool u make it sound so easy... When i am on trampoline i do frontflips backflips and even try double backflips ( sometimes i land too ) and its sooooo easy... maybe because i know that it doesent hurt that much
ninoBK2008 3 years ago
Im just gonna say one thing, its a very VERY bad idea to start out doing backflips like this if you've never tried one before: IF its your first time you should:
1) Try it on a trampoline before attempting it on ground, just the rotation can be VERY scary.
2) Never try it alone, have someone there with you, incase you hurt yourself, even better if he/she knows how to spot.
3) a small level difference in the ground would be to prefer, like 10-20cm when learning, to high will cause confusion
lossev 3 years ago
this was a quite old edit, if i make a new one it would say to do on trampoline 1st (although not essencial), i think i said never to do it alone, but if not then yes, don't do it alone, but i disagree with the height thing, about 1 or 2 feet is fine, 10-20cm might be a little low when 1st starting...
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
Its acually enough with 20cm, ive taught alot of my friends how to do a backflip, and ive tried various of heights, and around 20cm seems the best height, because it helps them get around, since most beginners dont push up enough with their legs.. and yes, you did cover the "not alone" part, missed that :P, and also one more thing, backflipping into sant is a good way to practise, you get rid of some fear and its not as hard if you fail.
lossev 3 years ago
well i suppose 20cm could be ok, i've just always gone with the higher (as long as not 2 high) the more rotation time and ye, sand is good
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
Most of my friends got more scared ones they got up on a higher platform, and the 20cm gives them that extra lift they need when they learn, but it doesnt help them so much that they dont use their legs...
lossev 3 years ago
GOOD QUESTION..! I CAN DO ONE ON BED LITERALY W/ NO JUMP but it dose kinda bounce you anways u no waht i mean?. BUT IT CREEPS ME OUT THAY PEEPS SAY TO PUL UR HANDS UP.. IF KEEP THEM DOWN THEN TUCK,AM IGONNA HVE A PROBLEM DOING IT ON GROUND IF IDONT LEARN TO PULL THEM UP ABOUT MY HEAD UNTIL THEY LOCK?
iwilshooti 3 years ago
yes, the 'peeps' are right, the hands being pulled back adds momentium, and momentium is what you need ALOT of if you want to do a back flip on the ground...
You will be unable to do a backflip standing on the ground with no hand movement at all...but they don't need to lock, watch in my video, they go up with the jump just until they can;t go any ferther...and then come down, creating a block. I would try of a hight to begin with, the bed is deceptive...the springs help
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
first... backflip. is not parkour, and is not freerunnig.. backflip is, a gymnastic trick, or street stunts... freerunning is parkour and freerunning mix... bye ;)
pollo80sate 3 years ago
Did i ever say this was parkour? I even say in the 1st slide, just after the title as point number 1...''This is not parkour, this is freerunning'' and y do you think that it is not freeruning...?...
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
tou are so stupid I think... I corroborate that wasn't parkour, anf, is no freerunning, is a bad fucking backflip... is very easy do a backflip like that, just try to do backflip in grass, without tall things... and I don`t think is not freerinning... is not!! freerunning is parkour and street stunts mix.. if you don't know... shut up... see my videos and look street stunts
pollo80sate 3 years ago
lol man, calm yourself down...and use proper english its 'i think that you are so stupid...''...lol and so...you have a very weak argument, your main reason that it is not freerunning is that it is easy? shh...get some real reasons then talk to me...also i did watch your vids and all your moves are sooo flawed...your backflip is open when it should be tight and tucked, your front flip doesn't use any blocking and your side flips have no vertical movement...streetstunts is parkour...
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
I'm spanish... and. loock videos in youtube.. freerunning is mix, ok? I repeat... If you don't know... SHUT UP ;);)
pollo80sate 3 years ago
haha, no i will not shut up, man, you are like all the other eliteists out there, shh your mouth, you know fuck all, and freerunning is streetstunts. Also i do know, i know more than you, i give reasons not elitest statements...

you are so bad doing street stunts... If you do with me... you're gona see that I know...more than you ;);)
pollo80sate 3 years ago
man i'm sorry but be quiet...i watched your video...i have done gymnastics for 11 years, i am a coach, i know when someone is doing things wrong...you are doing all your moves wrong...not just some of them, ALL of them...i don't want to do it with you because your lack of tecnique may rub off on me...
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
Hi, i have an ask, what is the time to tuck?
faquiado 3 years ago
You need to feel it, there is not real right time, but earlyer rather than later, it really depends - try and wait a few moments and then do it (and by moments i mean almost immideatly)
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
ok this argument should have ended here. in your first comment you say a backflip is part of street stunts. and right here you say freerunning is parkour mixed with street sunts. therefore, a backflip is freerunning. game over. you lose. thanks for playing.
dude, great video! you actually tuck instead of just throwing yourself backwards like all the other fags who think they can freerun! also a really good break down of the move! i would freerun with you anytime!

does touching ur ear help you do the flip? :P
that was a very good tutorial thanks man...i can do backflips already...im just exploring diferent techniques you did a good job dude...i also found that doing them at the bach off sand dunes helps with the fear as well... :P i havent taken a gymnastics class in my life tho so yea :P

i have done a front flip one, and i did have gymnastic esxperiance, but you don't have it have it. Its possible but takes more guts and it a tad harder
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
I have well now i know how to do a front flip i land really well but with my knees bent but i can do that on a matt on the grass i'm just scarred on the grass without a mat any pointers on how not to be scarred because I really want to do parkour or free running looks so fun
canada12354 3 years ago
just have a friend spot you on the back flip on the grass, and have your friend just help you out a lot out first then have him not do it as much each time and you should get it like I did,I have a vid if you want to see mine.
sk8ingforever 3 years ago
you just have to go for it, if you can land on a mat with your legs bent...try doing it down a hill, so you run up / then flip so you have longer to land \...then when you know what your doing slowly decrease the gradient
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
im also new to parkour and i started out jumping off my deck which is abt 10-15ft. and i jump and roll fine but i feel like a noob...any suggestions?
bucknerdaniel16 3 years ago
10-15 is very very high....are you sure you mean that high? that is almost 3 times your height
you should only be practicing this off 2-3 feet high things and lower if possible, and you shouldn't need to roll
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
i over estimated, sry its abt 8 ft...i mean just jumping not doing a backflip.
bucknerdaniel16 3 years ago
you 'feel like a noob' jumping and rolling is what your saying?
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
no i feel like a noob cuz its so low...
bucknerdaniel16 3 years ago
well then, if you think that you can, go higher?
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
don't go to high or jump from high onto concreate becuase i miss placed my hands on a 4 meter jump onto concreate before and ended up breaking my thumb, so do make sure you have mastered your rolling technique so you can do it perfect everytime without thinking before going too high, becuase i tell you now, failing hurts, alot.

lilgriffguy 3 years ago
lol, actually you're ahead you have the motion sorted and you have sand. What you've been doing is a wall flip which is a little different but almost the same. I say give it a go, but its up to you if you can/want to but if you can wall flip you should have the courage and ability

ParkourBlog 3 years ago
Its a good tutorial, but you should never learn backs from height - it teaches you to jump backwards rather than upards. Learn backs on flat ground. This will teach you perfect technique and how to get a high backtuck. Once you have them on flat you will be able to do them from height.
JoePresentsWTF 3 years ago
but then ur stuck with the usual problem of that normal ppl cant do standing back tucks...i never have and i've been doing gym 12 years (i problably could but am to scared to find out). Backwards or upwards it still trains the backflipping muscles. You do it from height and then move slowly down as you aptitude and technique get better. However i do see your point and am not sure (apart from just doing it standing which is no easy task). Personally i think from a slight height onto a mat is best
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
I found it better to learn first on flat. I got an experienced mate to spot me, and developed my backtuck until it was really high - I can flip at around 5 and a half foot now. After this, there is no fear at doing it from height, as you know you will easily make the rotation. Anyway, if you're doing backflip tricks from height these days, it has to be something sick like gainer moves, back twists or back whips and layouts
JoePresentsWTF 3 years ago
ok, well u had an exsrienced spotter, some ppl dnt have that. And yer the increase of twists and whips has made the flip from height pointless :p however i still stick by it as a learning method if you don't have a spotter, trampoline or mat
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
actually i didnt have an experienced spotter, we both spent a few days taking a look at a few videos how to spot etc on youtube and other random internet sources and then just took one of my mats and gave it a try, it really isnt too hard, but yes i see where your coming from about height being useful in the backflip because theres more time to rotate, however the person should only do that if he has overcome his fear of going backwards and is now having a hard time getting enough rotation
fishfatfishfat 3 years ago
its a good idea youtube spotting videos, i never thought of them...but i still have to stick by mid-backflip you don;t want your spotter to do something wrong coz then your really in trouble. If you get a good one like you had, great do it on the ground and learn
it that way, but i can't shake that image of some1 backflipping and there spotter just lets their back collapse. I dunno i had a fear of going backward and i had 2 find increasingly bigger objects 2 feel safe and then just went for it
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
spotter is the way to go with a gradual decrease in assistance (I found it pretty easy after a few back flips with a spotter and started landing them pretty soon afterwards) just get a friend or two friends and if your that scared your mattress and your set. If your a loner that offcourse could be the only problem
fishfatfishfat 3 years ago
did u ever think u landed on your neck because you didn't have enough time to rotate? Backflips are really easy from height just as long as you kick your legs over...thats all you need however from the ground you need your arms, legs, knees and head in right place so i personally think while theres is a slightly more increased chance of a single accident when its pitted against your 'when i was learning the backflip i landed on my neck a number of times'...it just seems height is better
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
the main reason why i landed on my neck was because i was jumping backwards and because of my fear of going backwards not because of height, the backflip does not require much height to complete, you just need to jump up at a reasonable height, so technically jumping of the platform is making you more inclined to jump backwards when your on the ground and thus might not allow you to0 make the full rotation
fishfatfishfat 3 years ago
when your eventually practicing the backflip on the ground
fishfatfishfat 3 years ago
which is why u move down.
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
and to your spotter comment i would question your spotter...a random friend cant spot you very efficiantly.
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
only problem i have to say is that since your jumping of a higher platform the chance for you to get hurt is much greater. As in when i was learning the backflip i landed on my neck a number of times, but since it was ground height didnt hurt too much (mind you it still hurt), from that height man you would seriously fuck you neck up, such as if the person chickened out and tried to look back but was already too far into the rotation. There are much more safer ways in learning the back flip man
fishfatfishfat 3 years ago
Dude, if yoo're landing on your neck, you need a spotter
JoePresentsWTF 3 years ago
lol man read the whole comment then comment, i landed a few times on my neck while learning the backflip
fishfatfishfat 3 years ago
thats still not really anything to be proud off...i dnt like the idea that 2 learn to backflip you need 2 land on your neck a few times. If it was knees i'd b happier. But i'm sorry i dnt like the idea of landing on your neck
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
i find it easier to have someone hold your midsection the first time through. That way, you can get the basic motion down without breaking your neck. After you know what to expect, the rest is easy...great tutorial by the way.
beardingknight 3 years ago
while having a spoter is good, they're not avalible and often lead to a false sense of being able to do it, it can be good, but proably (unless you can find a qualified one) best just to let them watch ready if something goes wrong.
ParkourBlog 3 years ago
well i can do backflip on trampoline easily i have made my first backflip since i was 8 yrs old. i can do it so that i just stand on trampoline and then jump backflip and i think i would succeed if i jump from the metal edge of the tramp. i think i try it :D

Tiki1597 3 years ago
they ought to, the higher you are the more rotation. They should have also practiced the technique on a trampoline or with mats/sand, so they should have the basic movemwnt down. If they wish they could go lower, but waist high or slightly above is where i wouls recomend

what does tuck mean????
Jontelitoo 3 years ago
to 'tuck' is a motion where you bring your knees to your chest to create momentium.
